obv not.....were complaining bc their out of div games are pathetic.
the teams you listed are not pathetic.
But that was my point, that if the Patriots were playing other, better stronger div teams, some would complain about the conference games. It was hyperbole for effect.

Most to all of the recent complaints about the Pats have been spot on.
People don't make stuff up about the Pats, most fans are just vocal about it. (just comes with being so successful {and getting caught cheating})
Pats schedule comically easy? YES
Is it the Pats' fault? NOPE.

True. We already know the extent of the Pats cheating since 2000. Unless there is concrete evidence proving Belicheat's cheating ways is more than what has already been discovered, nothing will happen.
The Pats legacy has already been relatively tarnished, the only thing (god help NE fans if Walsh actually has something) that could and will completely destroy the first dynasty of the century is if Walsh actually has evidence to back up all his talk.

Their schedule is comically week. If the Jets play like I think they can, and the Bills turn out to be good the Pats playoff chances do not look good.
Brady is the single most important player to his team in the NFL.

I did say that. It's 2 different things. Ben could have done close to what Brady did, but Brady would have got killed trying to do what Ben did. I'll never win that argument.
What I'm saying is the Cowboys, Steelers, and Colts can all beat you with their running game, but the Pats cannot, which makes Brady the most important player to his team.

Its probably been mentioned but maybe this is the new brady for bledsoe moment.
DMBDan27
09-08-2008, 12:14 AM
I agree with you jordonh, to a point. It COULD be. But at the same time, Tom Brady was in no way shape or form in his "Bledsoe years." Granted Bledsoe after leaving New England put up some decent numbers after, Tom is by far a better quarterback right now than Bledsoe was when he was injured. (I know no one is arguing that.)
All we can hope is that Cassel gets that spirit going or we get a decent Vet to take over. I'll tell ya after that 51 yard pass to Moss, I saw some "Brady spunk" in him.

He looked MISERABLE in preseason and was getting trashed locally.
rickyh24
09-08-2008, 05:57 PM
I don't thinks its confidence but I'm not going to sit here and say the team sucks as a whole now. They had to be a little distracted last game. Randy Moss said himself he could not concentrate and all he could do was look at the tunnel and hope Brady was coming out. Next week they will bet down to business once reality has set in.
Trippin4136
09-08-2008, 05:58 PM
Oh ok. Yea, no way they now suck as a whole. There's too much talent left at the skill positions, but that can be negated to a large degree by a shitty QB.
It's going to be an interesting year, but IMO, they've got to sign a veteran somewhere, somehow.
rickyh24
09-08-2008, 06:00 PM
I think so too. I have no problem giving Cassel a shot but I say bring on Cullpepper or Rattay. Fuck Simms. The running game also needs to step it up to open up the passing game for Cassel.

So since Brady is down, do you think Laurence Maroney's fantasy value will go up, since they may choose to use a back that can pound it and put in a decent amount of carries?
Cuz my patience with him splitting carries won't last long, and I wanna get rid of both him and Sammy Morris in the one league I have them in for somebody more consistent.

There has got to be someone in your league you can pick up that has more value then Sam Morris.

I'd say the value of both running backs will go up. It does little to restrain either one.

There has got to be someone in your league you can pick up that has more value then Sam Morris.
You have to handcuff him if you have Maroney.
Just look at this week.
Morris- 10 carries, 53 yards 1 TD.
Maroney- 10 carries, 51 yards, 0 TD.
This week Morris was actually more valuable than Maroney because he got the TD. I think he had like 12 points, while Maroney only had 5.
Its a damn shame, because Maroney is very talented and obviously the better overall back, they just don't use him.
And because of the sharing they do it makes both of them only marginally valuable.
But I have Chris Johnson in the leauge I have both of them in, so I will give him a start next week and hopefully he will be awesome again and for the rest of the year, and maybe I can get some value for those two.
rickyh24

I think Maroney will end up with more TD's before its over. I'm still waiting to see how Lamont Jordan figures into this too now.

I don't any of us think we are getting the second coming of Tom Brady with Cassel. He didn't look good at all in the preseason but how often was the first team out on the field with him? Not that often. He didn't have Moss and Welker downfield. He didn't have the best o-line the Patriots have blocking for him either. He was handing the ball off to LaMont Jordan many times too. He looked good getting thrown into the game on Sunday. I have to have some confidence in Cassel going into this week knowing he is the starter. He will get to practice all week with the first team, knowing he is starting the ball game.
In Bill we trust. He knows what he is doing.

With Brady as his starting quarterback, Belichick is 87-24 as a head coach during the regular season, 14-3 during the postseason. He is 3-1 in Super Bowls. Without Brady, Belichick's career regular season record is a mere 41-57 and he is 1-1 in postseason play

Moss has matured as a human being over the past three years. Just like TO. These guys came from rags and were thrust into the spotlight on the highest possible level. They proved their greatness, went through growing pains and now are model teammates and players. I want my children to look up to them. It drives me nuts for people to write these guys off because they had a few less-than-stellar moments.
Moss will have another HUGE year. The Pats are still one of the most talented teams in the league and will not lose more than 5 games this year. Mark it down.

He made Dante the qb he looked to be. The Oakland scheme was bullshit. Something like 80 targets for the greatest receiver in the game at the time...that's awful. He seems very team oriented in his old age and only 24 of his 116 yards came from Brady in the win against KC.
I don't think Cassel is a bad qb.

While I'll agree that Daunte was never a great QB, he threw a fantastic deep ball in Minnesota. And that's the key to Randy Moss being the most productive receiver in football. Tom Brady does as well, and well, look at what happened last year. The QBs Moss worked with in Oakland didn't. I don't think it's a coincidence Moss stopped putting forth full effort once he was playing with QBs who didn't help him do what he does best.
I don't think we know enough aout Cassel to determine how things will go. If Cassel doesn't get Moss the ball down field or if the Pats decide to focus on the run more, who knows what will happen.

I didn't see a single deep pass to Moss last year where he didn't have to adjust, usually a lot. Brady doesn't throw that great of a deep ball. The system in Oakland had more to do with Moss being disgruntled than the qb. Either way. We'll see.

I don't see many deep balls with a bunch of air under them where the receiver doesn't have to adjust. The thing that Brady did well was put the ball in a position where if anyone was going to come down with the ball, Moss was the only one it was going to be. And we'll just have to agree to disagree about Oakland.

But moss was disgruntled because Oakland is/was mainly a running team, and the QB can't throw for shit. How many plays were there where Randy was just all by himself down field or in the end zone?
If I was the best wide out in the league and I was on a team like Oakland, I would have been so annoyed.:shrug

The official word is out.
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and torn medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee, NFL sources confirmed to the Boston Globe today. Brady will likely undergo surgery in approximately one month and face 6-9 months of recovery and rehabilitation, barring any complications.

25 seconds left and we have no Time outs? Oh shit, I think we'll do a huddle. Fuck, it's over?
i agree with you, and you're right, that was pathetic. i cant stand mcnabb, or the eagles. in fact, i hate them more than the patriots.

I'm confused about the pass intereference call. This is from an earlier play.
So, say both guys are going for the ball and the Defense guy ends up plowing into the offense guy, but he's playing to get the ball. How is that PI? I thought PI was when you're practically face masking and not even looking at the ball...

Yeah, the one that was like on the 0.5 yard line. I don't get how that was PI. The NE dude was just going for the ball; I thought PI was when you practically tackle a guy before the ball even gets to you, thus preventing you from getting a complete pass????

I just went back and re-watched it (DVR FTW) and Hobbs barely looked back and that was after he had his arm all over the San Diego receiver. Then Hobbs just took him down. It was clearly pass interference.

i believe it was called becuase he prevented the recievers hand from going for the ball.

Okay. I only saw it from my bathroom door (I was brushing my teefs) and I didn't know if I missed something or couldn't see clearly.

nah, they would make you a DE or OLB, but only put in you in when you play the patriots, you would sack him each time.

depending on the formation.

Yeah, like Alex said, DE/DT, depending on the play. I think he's second string behind Mr. 76 or whatever that guy's name is. I email him once in a while so he can tell me how much he hates Merriman.
"Asshole buys baby gap shit so he looks more roided than we all know he is! Are you allowed to tackle your own teammate or is that bad form?"

Have you ever seen the clip where MJD totally blows up Merriman on a block near the goal line?
Its awesome.
Little 5"6' MJD just annihilates Merriman.
So Merriman's like a huge asshole or what?

I haven't!! Can I search for it on youtube or something? MJD rocks. :)
Well, Jacques says that Merriman is just ALWAYS intense. He's one of those guys who is always revved up and ready to kick some ass, even at practice. Everyone can appreciate it, but some of the guys on the team who are more of the silent heros (like the D-line) get a little annoyed.
Jacques says things like, "you don't see any of us having a huge party when we make a good block or put pressure on the QB. Why? Because that's our job. We might give high fives or congratulate each other, but I'm not going to do some dance because I block a pass. Whenever Shawn makes a tackle, you'd think the guy single-handedly won the Super Bowl. Yeah, that's great and all, but that's your job. Do it, and be humble about it".

Yeah it makes sense. I can see how that would get old real quick.
And yeah, you should be able to find it pretty easily on youtube.
I found it when I was watching Reggie Bush get nailed by that guy from the Eagles a couple years ago in the playoffs.
And it was linked to it. Its a pretty awesome hit too.
I'd just type in his name or type MJD blocks Sean Merriman.

Yeah. I mean, I'm intense sometimes, but that kind of intese can be tiring, just by talking to someone like that.
I'll search for it tomorrow at work. :) My laptop is barely able to handle one window with just ants, nevermind a couple AND youtube!
I love great NFL blocks/hits. I found one where Polumalu (spelling) was taken down BY HIS HAIR by some Cardinals guy. That was the pretty entertaining. I'd think that'd happen much more often than it does!

Is it illegal to do that to somebody with long hair? You'd think it would be, but I don't know that there's a rule against the pulling of long hair.

Yeah, he's how you say... a huge bag of douche.
And no, it's not illegal. It's actually totally fine; the NFL sees long ass hair as part of the uniform, so if you get pulled down by your nappy-ass samoan weave, that's your own damn fault. I think if you just youtube search something like "Polamalu pulled down by hair", it'll come up. It's pretty spectacular.:thumbsup
