I root for a team that has basically been absolutely awful for the better part of the last 20 years; I'd never be caught dead saying I don't want them to make the playoffs, no matter how poor they were playing at the time. Right I really don't want them to make the playoffs :lol That comment is meant to show that even if they get in they are not going to do anything unless the D can come up with a big stop when it matters. If this team doesn't use both of their first rounders at the draft on the defensive side of the ball I give up. There's just not enough high end talent on the defense right now.
dmbbearcat

I don't think they have a lot of high end talent around Brady either. I think they need a deep threat who can stretch the field like Moss could.

But do you really know what you are getting? Ocho Cinco and Haynesworth have both underperformed... (Yes I know they are trades not free agency, but you get the point)
I don't think the offense is a problem for the Pats though, they are pretty much as good as it gets offensively. Their defense really is probably one of the worst defenses I have ever seen though.

A speed receiver is different that a guy like Ochocinco. You just need him to be able to keep the safeties honest. Chad is not that type of receiver.

That's true. I think Marques Colston is set to be a free agent next year... He might be a good idea for the Pats, solid number 2. I still dont think they should stress over it though, the offense is great, the defense is the worst in football.

if the Cowboys didn't shoot themselves in the foot 3 weeks ago the Pats would be 4-4...I know what I say in this thread is not going to get any credit but don't you think its time for them to bring in a "randy moss" type WR teams know what to expect when playing the Patriots now. Last three games they have scored 20, 17 and 20 points which Brady has had 6TDs and 4INTs and the running game has not been there. As bad as the defense has been the offense has not played up to par as well.

all i'm saying is things could be a lot worse and could get a lot worse. They had to bring in more backups on defense today because of injuries and next week they have the Jets in New York which has not exactly been an easy task for the Patriots the past few years...and a Jets team that just had a pretty convincing win against a team that beat the patriots

Read what I was saying before your post. I agree the team needs a deep threat but that's not the reason why they're losing games right now.
i didn't see that before i posted and you're right its not why they are losing games but once a teams defense takes away the middle of the field they gain the upper hand and its not like you have to respect the play action and again the hardly use Ridley that kid should be getting 10-12 touches a game

Not too many are garbage yards. The ones against the dolphins are. But other than that most have been pretty legit. The pats pass defense is ranked right where they should be.

McCourty has been nothing short of awful this year. But I actually thought he played one of his better games of the year last year. On a few plays he had great coverage for about 5-6 seconds but the lack of pass rush allowed the receivers to have time to get open. There's only 2-3 corners in the league that can consistently lock down a WR for that long.

Cruz was abusing, Manningham was abusing, even Ramses fucking Barden got open. I said it in the NFL thread, but when you guys signed Ihedigbo, I was more worried than when you signed Ellis. Digs had been solid for us for three years and I thought for sure he would have his breakout year with you guys (or at least get noticed). they stopped blitzing. they were playing up on the receivers and blitzing the whole first half. they played scared again when it counted the most. brady had 3 turnovers i think and that can't happen when we have a defense in this stage of development. the offense is talented enough to fix, hopefully it's sooner than later

The first three weeks of the season Brady was playing out of his mind it was ridiculous the stats he was putting up. The last few weeks it looks like he is forcing a lot more passes to do anything to keep the defense off the field, which is causing more mistakes. Since the 4th/2 game you can tell BB does not trust his defense (ie last weeks onsides kick) but why are they not doing anything to fix it. I think he is still doing a great job as a coach but as the GM not so much. Clearly they have been hitting on their offense picks but their defense picks have been trending down or not even getting on the field. They have zero depth.

To an extent I agree. But there's a ton of guys they've taken in the first 2-3 rounds that contributed little to nothing. Merriweather, Butler, Cunningham, Brace, Wheatley. In the first 2-3 rounds you have to expect those guys to be contributors at some point and all those guys were drafted within the last 4 years and are already cut.

Feel like its going to get harder not easier. Outside of Welker and the two TEs what other elite younger wide receivers do they have? It seems like the offensive line has gotten worse as the season goes on. Still, the offense is not going to keep them from winning a championship. The defense has to be addressed if they want to get out of round one of the postseason.
i didnt see anything wrong with the O-line yesterday. brady threw the ball 49x and was only on the ground 3x against a team that was rushing him with 4 good passrushers the whole game

I actually didn't see any of yesterday's game, so I'll take your word for it.

Maybe he should stop tweeting and focus on not being called for Pass Interference, practically giving the Giants the game.

it was brown, but i agree.

he wasn't one of the two? Damn, I was more annoyed than I thought.
Edit: Just saw your edit. Two big gains that the Giants had were because of PI called against the Patriots. Take those away, and, well...yeah.

meh...imo take those away and Eli prob still drives the ball downfield. the defense was playing scared and stopped blitzing.

We need to knock off this zone bullshit. I hate it. Pick a guy, and stick with him. When they start spreading out, they get picked apart like some kind of JV team. It's awful. No one should be converting on a 3rd and 17 situation against us. Fucking rookies.
Edit: Also, stop going for the TD every GD time. You go for the first down in that final scoring drive by Brady, and you eat another minute off the clock. If the Giants were going to get the ball back, put THEM in the 16 second situation. :BANG

i dont like the amount of time they left on the clock either, but TD's aren't guaranteed, so scoring was the priority over clock management. how many times have you seen a team try to be too cute and end up turning the ball over or getting stopped?

With the way that drive went, when it's 1st and 10 on the 15, just keep marching it down. It's the Giants, the TD at that point was pretty much guaranteed. That's twice they've lost now because of shitty clock management.
Though, on the other side, the D should have been able to stop the Manning sister.

not even close... they had to get in on 4th down as it is. you just have to focus on scoring a TD there.

The same fans he's bitching about you probably think he's good because he has 5 picks. :lol

Man, picks are such a misleading stat. Ty Law led the league when he was with the Jets. Ty Law also sucked when he was with the Jets. The more you get targeted, the more picks you're going to have. QBs target shitty defensive backs. I think Cromartie had like 4 picks through the first 4 weeks of this season... case and point :lol
