I feel bad for my brother. He's such a diehard Dolphins fan and they've absolutely blown leads like this all season.
pathetic
12-24-2011, 03:25 PM
They really are. How many times have we seen this this year?
Too many slow starts. Even the giants and pitt games could've been wins if we did anything in the first half.

He barely even touched him.

Usually if the QB slides and a defensive guy goes in for a hit, it's a flag. Plus these refs have been flag happy against the Pats. Just wondering why it's not working the other way around.

so Brady needs like 220 yards against Buffalo to pass Marino and go to 2nd place behind Brees? Is that right?

Brady is 187 behind Marino's record. Brees is right now 31 behind the record.

Yeah I agree. Keller will definitley be free too. Should probably just put him on lol jets.
dduncan6er
12-27-2011, 07:20 PM
Keller is actually one of the few Jets I like. Just goes out there every week and gets the job done. It's a shame he doesn't have a better QB throwing him the ball because he could put up very good numbers.

I feel like he has dealt with this issue or one like it most of the season. he seems to be starting off cold in the first half of most games and second half really turning it up.

What do you think? I think it's nice to play in Foxboro, but they haven't exactly been awful on the road either. Granted it wasn't the playoffs, but still.
Maybe a compromise would be to play him one half, go run heavy and only throw/expose him to blitzes when necessary? Idk. If that's the case, I need a new FF QB. :lol

i'm on the fence. if it stays this bad i dont know how he doesnt get seriously injured if he's hit hard on the left shoulder...
i think you have to play him though...hopefully you go up 2-3 TD's early and can rest brady the 4th quarter. baltimore is 8-0 at home and pitt only has 1 loss. you can't hand them homefield advantage.

I think it's safe to say that Belichick is the best in the nfl at getting his team to adjust in games.
People say he's not a defensive genius. Look at what he's working with. After that horrible first he put McCourty and Chung as safety, Arrington and Molden at corner and edelman at Slot corner and the bills were shut out.
Road to the Superbowl goes through NE. Another 13 win season and #1 seed. Such an amazing run by coach and Brady.

A couple interesting pieces from the Patriots blog over on ESPN. Here's a link to a table with expiring contracts. It'll be interesting to see who they bring back/let go. http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-england-patriots/post/_/id/4713995/patriots-roster-by-contract-length-5
At a quick glance, I could see them cutting loose Branch (but there's no one to replace him), Ellis, Jones, Guyton, Faulk, etc. Who else do you think might be gone? I think they'll keep BGE around, even though they need to de-clutter the backfield and start going with Ridley on a regular basis. BGE will still be helpful.
Secondly, here's a rundown of their tentative draft picks. Any theories as to how they'll draft?
First round (Saints selection, 29th)
First round (own selection, 30th/31st*)
Second round (Raiders selection, 17th**)
Second round (own selection)
Third round (own selection)
Fourth round (own selection)

I hope Pittsburgh comes to Baltimore and Cincy goes to NE in the second week of the playoffs. Then Pittsburgh comes to New England in a re-match where New England fucks some shit up. NE/Green Bay SB would be great.

The problem is that the secondary does kinda suck monkey balls. The in game changes they've made the last two weeks (and before then) have been absolutely great, but I'm still worried about them going up against a Rodgers or Brees led offense for 60 minutes. Granted at that point they'd be in the SB, and both those teams also have porous defenses which gives us a chance, but still. I think the biggest challenge would be the Ravens or a healthy Steelers team. Both can run the ball, eat up time, keep Brady on the bench and pressure the QB.

i agree with this. pats have the most takeaways on defense in the AFC and their redzone D is above average. the reason i'm sick of hearing about the pats shitty secondary is because green bay and NOLA's Defense are just as bad. they might have more playmakers, but the stats dont lie. i dont feel like either of those teams have an advantage over the pats becauase of defense..

that's the thing though. the media is acting like the pats won't make the superbowl/win a playoff game with this Defense. the packers and saints have the same issues and for some reason they are locks for the NFC championship.
the pats are an elite team because of their offense and the fact that they have the most takeaways on defense. bend not break is what we've heard the past few years and it's still the same

I like McCourty back there as well. Maybe it'll give him a confidence boost that'll carry over. But if they match him up against a big, physical receiver, I'm really worried. I also liked Edelman playing the slot receiver/over the middle. That seemed to work well.

Just my opinion, but what worries me I guess is that we don't have the real big deep threats that GB or NO has with Colston, Jennings and the like. If a team like Pittsburgh (or whoever) can come in and play that tight bump coverage at the line and throw off the timing of our smaller receivers, there's nothing downfield. We've seen the deep pass to Ocho on a few occasions, but it's not a reliable threat. In NO or GB, if you press those guys at the line, Colston, Meachem, Jennings or whoever will burn you deep down the side.
Just my opinion/take on it.

Right, and that works for us. I absolutely love those guys and how the offense is built. But even in NO, you have Graham (who's a great player), but you also have X amount of WRs who can really burn you deep, so it stretches the field and opens it up. If you go back to the Cowboys, Steelers and Giants games, they all pressed us hard at the line and it created real issues with timing, pressure on Brady, etc.

they have the same holes as the pats and saints on D. dont try and make it look colorful, but you're right about the pats not beating a team that had a winning record.
they still beat the broncos in denver which was probably the best win of the season against that defense, and we beat Miami last week who's probably a better team than 3 playoff teams (denver, cinci, and houston)

yup, hopefully the pats can adjust this time around. they had the giants beat until eli lead that unbelieveable drive at the end of the game and that TE (i forget his name) made an amazing catch. and we def didnt get enough possessions against the steelers. imo the steelers are not as strong as they were when they beat us. no mendenhall and a gimpy ben might not be enough to get it done (also, i think they have their hands full on sat against denver without mendenhall and ryan clark)

Oh yeah I think the Steelers are very beatable (a tough game regardless) with their injuries right now, I was just mentioning how they played us. I was at the Giants game and Pats shot themselves in the foot in the first half by not capitalizing/scoring. our rushing d isn't that bad, however our pass d... let me get one thing straight. the patriots defense PRACTICES agains tom brady, wes welker, gronk, hernandez, branch, and ochocinco.

the pats defense gameplans for what they are going to see that week.
for instance, when they were gameplanning for Tebow, Julian Edelman took snaps against the Defense for the week. The patriots defense will never see the type of offense they have on another team. even if they play the saints/packers, those offenses are completely different.

thats what i love so much abuot him..the fact that he is a DBAG. why else would John Henry rush the studio when his team owns weei..because of Felger
and the Bruins thing was great..the montage of Mazz saying that they will win the stanley cup from like October of that year was great when Felger saying he was crazy.
pathetic

if WEEI was saying dumb untrue stuff about the front office i'm sure Henry would rush in there too.
I love watching michael holley make felger look dumb weekly on CSN

i just like that he is not afraid to stir the pot or speak out about a Boston team.

the pats defense gameplans for what they are going to see that week.
for instance, when they were gameplanning for Tebow, Julian Edelman took snaps against the Defense for the week. The patriots defense will never see the type of offense they have on another team. even if they play the saints/packers, those offenses are completely different.
i undertstand that, but the coverage and gaps they leave is just unacceptable...

The video of his argument with Brady will be played about 1,000 times before the start of next season so analysts can talk about how he's a tough coach.

no surprise there...but when do you think he will start? National Signing day is Feb 1st and Penn State has a lot of work to do i'd assume.

he's going through interviews with the media today, i believe. imo he won't be able to handle both positions if PSU is demanding he starts right away.

I'm very surprised he took the job, I thought he was merely meeting with them to see what they had to offer. I'd like to think he planned to hold out for an NFL HC spot.
Seems like a backwards step to me, especially given all the stuff going on there.
