but in all seriousness, baltimore had a tough time winning on the road this season. their defense is older and slower and i dont think they can cover all the options the pats have to throw to. there's no way those LB's can stick with hernandez/gronk and if they sit back in zone Brady will pick them apart. i dont think flacco has the offensive firepower to keep up with this offense either.
Its what happens when Ray Rice plays on a field not specially built for him, like M&T Bank Stadium is.

They have a type of turf, but it's a special kind that's specifically designed for Ray Rice. M&T has Sportexe synthetic turf, where Gillette has FieldTurf Duraspine PRO, or what is commonly used at most stadiums. Its why they were 8-0 at home, but 4-4 on the road.

From a very quick google search:
This SportExe field, which features 1billion blades of green synthetic fibers with a base of sand and granular rubber, is essentially the same as the highly rated one that has been in place for seven years. The older turf had begun to lose its softness, which led to the team's installing its first new field since it changed from grass in 2003."

So 3 players on this Pats D played in the Pats/Ravens game 2 years ago. 3 players from the Ravens D are still on the Ravens. I think its safe to say these are two totally different teams. Oh also Welker, Gronk and Hernandez were not on the field. Go up early on Flacco and this game is probably over quick. He is not a good QB.

No prob. Saying it's specifically designed for him is a little obnoxious, but it was changed after he was in the league. I honestly think Bisciotti just wanted a more durable field. The one that was in the stadium during the first season was replaced twice I thought prior to 2003.

People Sharpe has commented on:
WR Desean Jackson : "Watching D. Jack of eagles his play is horrible he dropped 2 tds and several other catches, plus he's chicken and wants no part of contact.eew,"[14]
WR Plaxico Burress: "Plexiglas"
WR Chad Ochocinco: "ocho no-show" instead of "ocho cinco"
WR Freddie Mitchell: "If I had his hands, I'd cut 'em off"
RB Corey Dillon, "the biggest robbery since the Louisiana Purchase" (Subway Postgame Show, 2005-01-16, AFC divisional game IND 3 - NE 20)
QB Jake Plummer: "They're about to take out the 'SN' in Snake and put an 'F' in front of it." (from Movin' the Chains)
QB Kyle Boller: "You do have your teammates behind you: your fullback and your halfback, and that’s only because they have to be."[15]
QB Kyle Boller: "I've got a better chance of winning the Kentucky Derby on the back of a donkey than they have of winning the Super Bowl with Kyle Boller."
Head Coach Tom Coughlin: "I would rather die in an abandoned building alone, and my family not know what happened, than play for Coughlin."
LB London Fletcher-Baker: "LondonFletcher-Baker.com; he's logged in."
Jacksonville Jaguars' strategy in a divisional playoff game against the New England Patriots: "Nothing cheap, nothing deep." (January 12, 2008)
CB Ray Buchanan, who wore a dog collar to Media Day and guaranteed an Atlanta victory in Super Bowl XXXIII (which Atlanta lost): "Had anybody heard of Ray Buchanan before he got to Atlanta?"
After Buchanan's assertion that Sharpe looked like a horse: "I've never called anybody ugly. Do I think people are ugly? Yeah, I think he's ugly, but I've never said that...Is he my friend? No. Did I ever view him as a friend? No. Do I view him as an acquaintance? No. Do I like him? No. If I see him in a snowstorm, his truck is broke down, mine is going perfectly, would I pick him up? No."
QB Steve DeBerg: "DeBerg is old enough to be my father, and he's still in the league. How old is DeBerg, 105?"
TE O.J. Santiago: "Santiago? Who, Benito?"
FS Eugene Robinson: "He can't out-talk me or cover me. He went to Colgate, but I'm smarter than he is. I might bump into him. I know he's not going to be covering me one-on-one. We know that's not going to happen, don't we?"
About the four people he'd invite to a dinner party: "Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Michael Jordan and Halle Berry. I'd talk to Gates, Buffett and Jordan first, and then me and Halle would go get another table in the back that's candlelit. And I'd let them discuss whatever they want to discuss."
Doubters of the Baltimore Ravens' chances to defeat the Oakland Raiders in the 2000 AFC Championship Game: "I want to ask America: What does crow taste like? Because y'all are eating it."[16]
"I won't talk about someone's mother. I won't talk about their girlfriend or their wife, but if you have a deformity, I would talk about that."
About growing up in Georgia and hating the Atlanta Falcons: "I've pretty much been in Atlanta my whole life, and I never liked the Falcons. What was there to like about them? They lost all the time. If you had a pair of cleats on and you were in Fulton County, they'd put you in the ballgame, they were so bad. For $20, you could sit in the luxury box with the owner."
About the Indianapolis Colts Defense winning the Super Bowl: "I have a better chance of hitting a home run grand slam in Yankee's Stadium with a toothpick."
On Chicago Bears QB Rex Grossman's first-half performance in Super Bowl XLI: "Rex Grossman is exactly who I thought he was...inconsistent!" This was a spoof of then-Arizona Cardinals coach Denny Green, who had famously growled, "The Bears are who we thought they were!" following Arizona's infamous Monday Night Football loss to the Bears earlier that season.
On New England Patriots strategy after a Deltha O'Neal punt-return touchdown on Monday Night Football on November 3, 2003: "They can't run the ball! All they're gonna do is play-action, they can't run the ball."
During a 34 - 8 rout vs. the Patriots on November 17, 1996: "I'll Call the President. President, we need the National Guard! We need as many men as you can spare! Because we are killing the Patriots! So call the dogs off! Send the National Guard, please!"[17]

Its funny how everyone here is mentioning how baltimore isn't good on the road, but no one brought up the fact that the pats lost both games to playoff caliber teams... pitt and giants, giants at home
regular season means nothing... anything in the past means nothing. the only thing that matters to win this game is the following
home field advantage
brady needs to be accurate
defense needs to play the way they did on Saturday
if this is done (almost) flawlessly, then there is no way in hell that Flacco will be able to go toe to toe in a TD shootout with Brady. If Brady has a bad day or if our D really drops the ball, it can be anyone's game.

You honestly can say that the denver bronco's are a playoff caliber team? Really? Think about that... Denver was a given win... If they played against the Giants, Packers, 49ers, Ravens, or Saints, they would have been destroyed just like what the Pats did to them. Yes, they were in the playoffs, yes, they beat Pittsburgh with a lot of injuries... i think we can all agree that they were way out of their league coming to New England. A playoff "caliber" team doesn't buckle the way they did on Saturday.
Point taken rather than taking my posts literally word for word? Baltimore is a true test, they know how to play us, given they haven't played us this year.

i will give the pats as much credit as anyone else. they called the right plays, the defense stepped up, and we were relentless all game long.
that is a "playoff caliber win" ... yea, could have denver beat us? yes. Did i know 100% that the pats were going to win? no... but after the game, Denver showed their true colors, they didn't belong in NE. A playoff caliber team makes the neccesary adjustments to stop the beating that they are getting. Look at what happened week 17. 21-0... we made the necessary adjustments to come back and win. I'm not taking any credit away from the Pats... we did phenomenal and I hope it continues this week, but you bet your ass if Baltimore finds themselves doen 21-0, they will do something different to stop us

obviously. i'm not making that argument. but trying to bash on baltimore sports talk radio, come on. lets be honest- most sports talk radio callers aren't very good no matter what market. most of them are people with an outside opinion or just want to hear themselves talk or whatever. that's all i was saying.

The key to winning this game is our defense being able to stop Ray Rice. If we can limit him then I think we win by 14+. If he's allowed to run all over us it's going to be close or even embarrassing. Compared to the first time we played Denver our defense really stepped up, especially against the run. And I think everyone can agree that running the ball was Denver's greatest strength--very good RB and one of the better rushing QB's this season. If our defense can play like that then I think we'll be able to keep Rice's numbers down.

That sounds about right to me. I'm kinda surprised I haven't heard one sports commentator call it for the Pats though. Everyone seems to think the Ravens are the favorite based on our defensive rank and Ray Rice being the difference maker. They say the main reason Baltimore had a bad game last week was because of the Texans defense and that they will play a lot better against us. Whatever

i think houston D is underrated and played great against baltimore. they just happened to be playing against a rookie QB that was on the road and turned the ball over a couple times. like duncan mentioned too, jacoby jones gave up the ball on his own 5... if the pats don't make those mistakes and brady is clean in the pocket, i dont see any team beating us

Their defense is good... do you remember how helpless we looked against the giants and the steelers? I'm not expecting that to happen, but you can't rule it out.
Our offense is human... if baltimore plays well against us, which they usually do, we will find some struggles through the day.

but this is a completely different offense than when we played the ravens in 09 and giants in 07...
against the ravens in 09 the pats lost Welker the week before...he was pretty much the offense in 09...oh, and we added two TE's (their names seem to slip my mind...meh i guess it's not relevant)
no LB in football can cover welker/gronk/hernandez...not even close. the only way to do that is by playing zone and hoping brady doesnt pick it apart...like ricky said, there's no covering all those guys...maybe you can for a quarter or a half, but eventually they'll be open and for big plays

I completely agree with this. I would honestly say this offense is better than the the 07's. We have the the best TE in football and our second TE is easily in the top 5. When an offense has a good TE is creates nightmares for any defense--we've got two. Oh ya, and Wes Welker is a pretty decent receiver. I think his numbers were pretty good this year compared to other receivers.

I mean, and I'm not using this as an example or anything, Kyle Boller almost beat the Pats the year they went undefeated to the SB, and the Ravens were coming off of a horrible 5 game losing streak. The Ravens showed alot of heart out of nowhere for that game, so that pretty much sums up that this sport is really week to week.
I'm just excited for another opportunity to go to the Super Bowl

10 yr anniversary for the tuck rule game today. Such a great moment.
True story. I was at the game and remember it well. I had just started dating my wife (took her of course) and it was a Saturday night game. Tickets had been re-released that Thursday morning before the game and somehow I got two in the 300 section. We were dressed in layers and layers of clothing. I actually a wore ski mask (the goggle kind) as the snow was that ridiculous.
We stood for pretty much the whole game. The aluminum benches were covered in snow. At half time I went down to grab beers and it was hysterical seeing everyone dressed like they were ice-fishing in Alaska and thank goodness I only peed once.
When I saw "the pass" I knew instantly it was going to be ruled an incomplete pass. But the funny thing was, is that while the refs were reviewing the call, I could see from my Bob Eucker seats hundreds of fans going through the turnstyle and leaving the arena. As soon as they officially ruled it was not a fumble and it was an incomplete pass, not only did the fans go bananas in the stadium, but you should have seen the hundreds of people turning around outside the stadium and running back in. It literally was like two events going on simultaneously and I could see them both happen from my birds-eye-view seats. It was the last game at the old Foxboro Stadium (Shaefer/Sullivan, etc.) and the last with the aluminum benches. We had gone to the game the week before vs. Miami thinking that that could be the last game as I don't think the playoff schedule had been set, and seeing some Pats players after the game and go to mid-field on the Pats logo and salute the fans was incredible.
I had been going to that stadium since I was a little boy with my dad--probably since 1979, 1980 (yes, I am older then most of you). I suffered through the Toilet Bowls with the Baltimore Colts for many years. To be on the cusp of a 4th Super Bowl after dealing with drunk idiots for all those years with 12,000 other fans (they didn't draw that well back in the early 80's) is very special.
Another true story: My dad was a season-ticket holder for many years until selling them. The day he got married, he took my mom to a Patriots game and then came back to the ceremony afterwards when the game was over. Absolute true story and my mom hasn't let him live that down even today.

It's very possible. I just remember they had these outside turnstyles by the guard rail that were kind of in a random place and fans did a 180 and pushed through back. Whether they made it all the way back in is another story but the mass exodus out within minutes turned completely into a master cluster. Simply incredible.

I think the Pats will be playing with a lot of confidence this weekend and will be operating like a well-oiled machine. One thing I haven't heard much about is how if they can run quick plays on offense without the huddle, the Ravens D will most likely get gassed quicker then other D's (in theory). Make them burn their timeouts and just beat them to the punch.
