On the replay you could see him with possession still standing completely upright, then when you look at the wider view replay, when he's upright, he's past the 1st down marker. Bad spot. Of course going for it was idiotic...

Ok. Not really. It was a toss-up at best. It's hard to not give him the first down there. I would've. But at the same time, there was nothing conclusive. He bobbled it initially and when he had control it looked like he was on top of the line. But I don't think it was terribly conclusive. I think it was probably a bad call on the field but what can you do? It's a judgment call and it's Belichick's fault for going for it and not having any TO's left.

I'll take what is a dumb post for 500 Alex.

What's dumb about this post?

The game was sloppy on both sides, both teams made more than enough mistakes to lose the game. Before Belichick and the Pats O lost their brains in the last two minutes with their timeout mistakes and the call to for it on 4th down, the story of the game would be the Colts miscues (turnovers, dropped passes, horrible special teams coverage) and how they doomed the Colts. But now, the Pats make some questionable moves and it's inconceivable that that Colts won the game outright, it's only because NE gave the game away.

Oh, and the refs blew the game too, on the call that NO ONE EXCEPT for a few dull Pats fans are disputing the validity of the call. If only NBC would have showed it for 4-5 times with a perfect description of why the call was made the way it was. And oh yeah, don't forget that pretty much everyone else (including unbiased fans) think the right call was made.

Sorry, it's a tough loss. Try not crying so much next time.

You're really going to try and tell yourself this game won't matter come the end of the year? You're either very dense, or you don't believe that the Pats would have won enough games to keep up with the Colts anyway. You seriously don't think the fact that the Colts now 1) have a three game lead for homefield advantage on anyone in the AFC 2) tiebreaker against the Pats and 3) in all likelihood will be able to rest their key players the last 2-3 weeks of the season and enter the playoffs as healthy as possible, none of that will matter?

It is inconceivable. The Colts did not win this game, the Pats gave it away, I think even Colts fans would admit this.

And if this wasn't the end of the 4th quarter of a close game, Faulk gets that call and no one even raises an eyebrow to it. You see those plays 4 or 5 times a game and the receiver usually gets the benefit of the doubt and ends up getting a good spot.

But as I said, I really don't see how any of us have really been "the worst losers".

We were up by 17 points. We wasted 2 times outs in the 2nd half, and went for it on our own 27 yard line with 2 minutes to go and a 6 point lead. Why does Indy deserve credit?

If we punted, and Manning made a classic 2 minute drill comeback to win the game, then yes I would give the Colts credit. But we gave them the ball at our own 27 yard line.

Show me a Colts fan that's saying that. I think most Colts fan that have watched them play all year would say something similar to what I would say. It's pretty amazing that the Colts could play so sloppy, and at times pisspoor on defense, and still win the game. NE didn't lay down and give the Colts 21 points in the 4th quarter...I think the Colts had at least a little bit to do with that.

Did the Pats make some poor decisions? of course. Did they play their best game? Nope. But the same applies to the Colts, and the Colts won.

I've never seen the Colts drop as many passes as tonight. That has everything to do with 'hands' and very little to do with who's playing defense. Poor offensive work tonight. Until the end that is.

It doesn't matter the circumstance, even starting the drive on the doorstep with ample time, the Colts still had to play the whole game to get in that situation, and still had to come through and play to score. In other words, the game wasn't given away, as the Patriots d still had a chance to end the game.

Trust against Peyton Manning? I mean Cmon. He thought his team could get two yards on a play that was obviously drawn up to accomplish that.

If Belichick has the '01, '03 or '04 defense, I absolutely believe he punts it. He doesn't have that faith in his defense, nor should he, and that is what the biggest take away should be from tonight's game.

I agree with that somewhat. I think it has a lot to do with the opposing QB though too. If this was the same situation against any other team they punt.
