View Full Version : Kerry, more and more pathetic every day

Ok, a couple weeks ago I posted about a radio add I heard pandering to black people. It said among other things "George Bush has a history of discouraging the black community from voting"
Today in the mail I got an interesting flier. It is 8.5'' x 11'', folded over.
5x8 of it is a huge picture of a man that looks a lot like Dr. Dre. He is a 30 something black male, 200+ lbs, two gold hoop earings, very angry expression, and ragged/gangster clothes. Every other person on the flier other than Kerry and Edwards is black.
In big bold letters it says: "It's time for US to use the power of OUR vote." On the other side it says "After 4 years of Republican Rule: Too many of US don't have health insurance, don't have a job, don't graduate high school." In smaller font, printed like a letter it says:
Dear Friend,
We elected a Democratic President four years ago, but George W. Bush and his team of lawyers and allies on the Supreme Court TOOK IT AWAY FROM US.
We can't let them do it again.
.....Almost twice as many African Americans in Florida are out of a job compared to the state's average.... only 46% of our African American youth in graduate from high school...etc. etc.
We've got the power-now we must use it!
I suppose it is implied that it is Bush's fault that 54% of black highschool students drop out. I guess it must be Bush's fault that twice as many African Americans in Florida are out of a job compared to the state's average.
I find it extremely pathetic that the advertisement campaign specifically targets blacks and specifically tells them Bush incourages them NOT to vote, that a conspiracy led by Bush took away their vote since they "elected a democratic president four years ago," and Bush's lawyers "took it away from us." Furthermore, Bush made 54% of black students dropout of highschool, and Bush put the disproportionate amount of blacks out of work.
Isn't it insulting to think black people are unintelligent enough to believe this?
The only things that it says about Kerry on the flier is a three step plan:
1.Create Better Jobs by increasing minimum wage (even though that will already be decided before Kerry takes office)
2.Invest in Schools
3.Reduce health care costs.
Apparently it's that easy.
Vote for Kerry because Bush etc. etc. etc., also Bush etc. etc. etc., also Bush caused bla bla bla bla. (by the way, Kerry has a 3 step plan)

And I thought it was pretty offensive to get a GWB mailing that said Kerry has promised to get UN approval before ever taking the US to war. That statement is just as false as the mailing you got.
Newsflash! Both sides are pulling a lot of despicable shit. Does your commentary do anything but encourage it?

This happens EVERY time. Like John Stewart said, minority pandering time is around the corner. It's called campaigning in a battle ground state. They point out all of the bad in their opponent in relation to a certain group. This is nothing new, get over it...

There were the fliers from the RNC saying Kerry and his liberals would ban the bible in WV and Arkansas.
There's a thread on it around here somewhere.
Same principle. It is scare tactics by both sides, but we should be equal time in our disgust.

Democrats care very much about voter fraud and are doing everything they can to make it as easy as possible. Imagine saying with a straight face that you'd be intimidated by being asked to produce identification at a polling station. I guess these people are so intimidated that they don't rent movies at Blockbuster, fly, rent hotel rooms, or any of the other thousand things that require ID. Shameless.

I wouldn't say I am "following" the election, atleast not compared to many people here. But this is the first time I have ever recieved a flier with blatant conspiracy theories, and accusations of racism against an incumbent president.

its not a stealing issue. its a clearly breaking the law issue. and i never said bush has. he is smarter than that, or his people are smarter than that i should say. but many jackasses working for the republican interest are/were outta control in their actions.
EDIT: bush did not steal the election, he just lost it.

couple of quick things:
1st, both sides are throwing out silly campaigns like this. It would be unfair to all the stupid Republican ads to single out only the Dems on this.
2nd, there was MASSIVE voter fraud in Miami-Dade Co. The polling places were still open at 9 pm (2 hrs after they should've been closed). They stopped counting after the 5th time! It's amazing how many people mess that up. Gore only one 13 of the 60+ counties in 2000. Until people started interpeting abstract art as votes, the spread was around 1500.

and that means it must have been a conspiracy: "We elected a Democratic President four years ago, but George W. Bush and his team of lawyers and allies on the Supreme Court took it from us..."
so...they stopped counting ballots that were not properly marked (if I remember right it was punctured chads, and indented chads, as well as hanging), lets just assume if they hadn't stopped the votes would have all been for Gore, and that George W. Bush's team of lawyers and allies on the Supreme Court forced them to stop counting, because of course they had this knowledge in advance somehow, and therefore "George W. Bush and his team of lawyers and allies on the Supreme Court took it from us."

before you even get to that question you need to acknowledge that we are talking about a FRACTION of people, in one county, in one state out of 50; even if you do assume that all those people voted a certain way, which isn't a safe bet by any means.

lets just assume your right, even though you have no way of knowing whether it was done by "some group" or by the Kerry campaign. all that changes is this: take out the name "Kerry" from the title, insert the name "democratic party"

First, 527 groups are by law not affiliated with the Kerry campaign or the DNC.
Second, if you're so anxious to prove to everybody that it's either the campaign or the DNC, why don't you just tell us what's printed on the bottom of your flyer?

Probably because he realizes how stupid it was to even make such a thread. This has nothing to do with the Democratic party, so there is no use in trying to make it look like it is.

ok, I will. it says "paid for by the florida democratic party www.fladems.com"
I am aware that that means Kerry is not directly responsible for the content of the flier. The thread title should say "democratic party" instead of "Kerry". what I was getting at was the level that Kerry supporters are willing to sink to.
It is on the same level as the swift boat ads in that it was sponsored by a supporter and not directly by the man himself, which many people in this thread have already pointed out, and I didn't argue with them.
It is not, however, on the level with the swift boat ads in the CONTENT, which was my whole point. The content of the swift boat ads was that men who had been in vietnam, who had served their country, risked their life etc. etc. had a negative opinion of Kerry based on things that he actually said. The content of this ad is that Bush is racist, that he has specifically discourages certain races from voting, that he specifically oppressed blacks in florida by "taking away" their vote, that the fact that 54% of black highschool students dropout is directly linked to this administration.
If someone would like to point to a republican add that accuses Kerry of racism or something similar, I am all ears.
If you would like to say that the florida democratic party has "nothing to do with the democratic party", you are wrong
If you would like to point out that Kerry did not fund the ad, feel free, but the point has already been made.
If you would like to compare it to an ad with some wolves in it, or an add that was clearly the work of veterans who had a problem with specific statements kerry made, I think we all know that isn't comparing apples to apples.
