ASHBURN, Va. - This election season, Washington Redskins cornerback Fred Smoot has a predicament: For Kerry to win, the Redskins have to lose on Sunday — at least according to a bizarre statistical correlation that's been accurate for seven decades.
"We've got to win this game no doubt, but I'm hoping John Kerry (news - web sites) can kind of reverse the curse," Smoot said. "I'm wishing him luck, man. This is the millennium for all trends to be broken."
Since the Redskins became the Redskins in 1933, the result of the team's final home game before the presidential election has correctly predicted the White House winner. If the Redskins win, the incumbent party wins. If they lose, the incumbent party is ousted.

interesting..
The "actual" predictor which has been applied to every election since the Civil War has indicated Kerry. However, it is a purely economic and world-based predictor and doesn't take into account the candidates themselves.

As a Bush supporter I really don't like the idea of relying on the Redskins, but at least it isn't my Bills.

And which predictor is this?
Ray Fair's model has Bush winning by a good amount.

You can debate whether it matters in this election cycle, but I'd certainly like to see this model that's predicted "every election since the Civil War".

The skins scored a TD that would have let the extra point make them up 21-20. BUT an illegal motion was called that no one on ESPN or any sports network for that matter can see. At that point an interception was thrown and GB went down to score another TD. BS but oh well, shit happens.
Shit sux though... lately a lot have refs have been getting fined for mis calls so im sure this will end in that.
