Just out of curiousity. I know a LOT of Dems (mostly women) that Hillary would be the last person on Earth theyd vote for.
So IF Bush wins... and IF Hillary ran in '08... would she get your vote or what?
Let's say if it was a Rudy Giuliani vs. Hillary in '08.

I agree
too many people in her own party hate her, I bet she couldn't get half the votes of people registered as democrats

I don't know they all love Bill so much that she'd get all the votes just so he would be in the White House again... Now getting a number of Bush voters and Republicans to vote for her is a whole other story.

Hillary has done nothing for New York, she used her celebrity to get office. ( not that Arnold has done the same thing) I have no problem voting for a woman, but I would prefer a capable one.

I think Rudy would get a lot of the dem. votes because of how he feels with gay marriage and pro choice and all that. But at the same time would lose rep. votes? Who knows itd be interesting.

If Hillary ran against Rudy, how would he lose Republican votes? Hillary is more hated than Bill on the Republican side.

Because at some point we need to fucking move past 9-11 and get on with our lives. The heroes on that day were normal people like you and me, not some dumbass politician - unfortunately they are the ones getting (and claiming) all the credit. Disappointing, yet typical.

I think the only republican pair that i would have a chance of voting for would be McCain/Powell. I think they would do a heck of a job. But they would still have to be alot better than the Democratic ticket if i were to vote for them.

Powell/McCain maybe. I'm actually ambivalent about who wins the election. I agree with Bush's aggressive approach toward terrorism and taxcuts, but he's been very disappointing on controlling our borders and spending. Bad things are going to happen in the next 4 years regardless of who is President, so it wouldn't bother me a bit to see Kerry get tagged with it. If Kerry wins, Hillary's political career is over. Republicans will still control both Houses of Congress and would likely be reticent to waste money on Kerry's programs (as they did with Clinton) and he'd likely veto their spending plans, which could, hopefully, reduce overall spending. We'll see. I'll vote for Bush but certainly won't cry in my beer if Kerry wins.

at least you're realistic and honest to yourself about it. some conservatives won't even admit that bush doesn't align with them on certain issues, like spending, because they are too wrapped up in ideology.

They, like I, actually agree with him on issues that we consider a higher priority. NO Conservatives are happy about the drunken-sailor spending spree that the Federal Government is on (not all the fault of the current Congress or President). I thought his "support" (tepid as it was) for the "Assault Weapons Ban" was a prime example of political cowardice. But I'm certainly not going to vote for someone that I disagree with on nearly every issue over someone that I agree with on most, but not all, issues.

Right on. That's exactly how I feel about him, as do most ppl I know that are voting for Bush. I'm not happy with the huge deficits and expansion of government. I did a side by side comparison of the two candidates on some major issues and there are at least 3 Bush policies I don't agree with, but to me the war on terror and Iraq are much more important than any of these other issues.

Rudy won't get enough support from conservatives. I hate to say it, but the way he is supporting the President I think McCain will be the next Rep. candidate. Every time they show him campaigning for Bush it looks like he's just been hit in the nuts he hates it so much. He's playing the game and I'm sure he expects his prize.

Rudy is lucky that he is presented well. He has a nice facade to hide behind. Did you hear what he said yesterday about our troops. He said that its the troops fault that the weapons are missing in Iraq. It has nothing to do with them. It's this administration. Imagine he ran. That would very much get thrown in his face. Kerry is considered anti troops and hes a VET! Then you national people have no idea what crazy schemes Rudy created in NYC. He used to use hitman like strategies to avoid talking to his own elected officials. Thats just the start of it. Except for cleaning up 42nd Street and being there on 9/11 he's a nut case that has no idea how to run a national govt.

Rudy was an awesome mayor, but he was hated by many in NYC up until 9/11. Then all of a sudden everyone forgot about that and he became a permanent hero to New Yorkers.
And he decreased crime. That was his biggest accomplishment.
