View Full Version : I have come to the conclusion that...

...people have simply lost their minds.
I saw on CNBS tonight video clips of people going onto other people's property and stealing "Bush/Cheney" signs. Apparently some home owner got tired of replacing his sign, and set up a night vision video camera. I don't know how many people he caught, but the news showed about 8 or so, and it was obviously the same yard.
Another man did the same thing, except he was in his car in the driveway holding the video camera, and when the guy drove off he followed him and called the police
in the same news segment they interviewed a man who rigged his sign with exposed wire and hooked it up to electrical current, to shock anyone who touched his sign. He said it had been stolen 3 times.
A man in his early twenties is in jail for threatening to kill his girlfriend if she voted for Kerry.
They also showed video footage shot from the inside of a car, driven by a woman and with another woman riding shotgun and shooting the video. They were on there way to a Bush/Cheney rally, and Kerry supporters mobbed their car. They literally couldn't go forward because people where standing infront of their car, one hand on the hood and another holding a Kerry sign, they appeared to be chanting something
The last clip they showed was a 40 or 50 year old man, holding a Kerry sign. He appears to be holding it for some camera or something that isn't in view of the footage. A younger man, probably about 25 or 30 walks up beside him with a Bush sign. The older man continues to smile and wave at the camera until he looks and sees the other man's sign says Bush, then he turns a socks the guy directly in the face, without saying a word and without any warning.
I am aware that most of these examples show Kerry people flipping out of Bush people, which is unintentional, those are just the clips CNBC showed.
have people gone fucking nuts, or is it just me?

Peole are nuts. And it's not only with this election. I'm starting to give up on the world...How depressing is that...:( But...people are insane, and there's nothing I can do.
That stuff seems like something a little kid would do. And these are the people voting...

On the way home today I saw a similar incident. An older couple had Bush/Cheney signs and was handing out flyers to those that wanted them. A guy in his twenties goes up to the woman and asks for a flyer, takes two steps towards the man, rips up the flyers and throws the pieces in the older guys face.
I just don't understand what is up. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. It is so stupid to treat one another in such a disrespectful way over a difference of opinion.

I absolutely agree with you guys... I really don't understand all the hate. I can certainly understand why people are passionate about it all, but all of this nonsense with people storming campaign headquarters, stealing signs, vandelizing a person's car because of their bumper sticker, and so on... I think we've all seen the same mentality on these boards in the form of name calling and just general rudeness. It's absolutely uncalled for and does nothing for your cause or beliefs. Grow up and argue your point like an adult. Or just disagree and move on. It's very frustrating. Since when were we all not entitled to a difference opinion??

My friend has had his stickers ripped off his car a couple of times. Pretty sad.

look to CO. great state. but i believe the republican candiate for something like school board was caught stealing his oppostiions signs and knocked himself out cold stealing one and then the cops found his mini van full of the oppoents signs. so it goes both ways as much as you would like to vilainize the liberals.

Has anyone thought of the possibility of the U.S. having a civil war over this election? I doubt it would go that far, but I wouldn't rule out riots.

Who here has said it doesn't go both ways?? Seriously, no one was making that insinuation. All anyone has said is that people need to stop acting worse than children and be more tolerant of other's views.

the only examples clemson gave were that of dems stealing repubs signs and whatnot so i can see where mwjorgans is coming from. its better to give examples of both sides otherwise you show to people to be exclusive to one side or imply that one side is perfect.

He also commented that he is aware of how one-sided the examples are, but that he was only going by the CBS piece... insinuating to me at least that he realizes that it goes both ways. But really what's the point in arguing? I am well aware it goes both ways and it seems to me that most ppl posting in this thread are also aware so I'll end it there.

im not sure that vilainize is a word, put if you think I am trying to make liberals into villains (notice the two L's), then you might want the take another look at what you quoted:
"I am aware that most of these examples show Kerry people flipping out of Bush people, which is unintentional, those are just the clips CNBC showed."
