Do you have to burn dvd -RW onto another dvd -RW or should it work on -/+ r dvds?

I haven't had any problems going from +r to -r or the reverse, but I understand that -r holds a little more data, so as long as it all fits on a +r you should be fine.

No. That's just a rewritable version of the same type. -RW = -R
