It's in 4/4 fairly straight forward. The first section is what makes it. It's all about the groove, Youv'e really got to feel it to make it work (it's only 3 chords!). I'd suggest playing along with recordings. I really like the groove they put down in LS .
Try drumming along with Carter on the table, then listen to and play some of the bass line. (This is where all that groove magic happens). Then play along with Dave.
Now you'll have an awareness for what's happening in the rhythm section and you'll be able to hook in the guitar part (sorry, I'm assuming your a guitarist). Dave likes to subtlely play around the beat once a jam gets going (this part makes it breath).

Hope this helps.

Merry Xmas (the politically incorrect statement of the season)

you should watch the ultrasound thingy for BTCS, they have Dave playing that exact part you're referring to.

Do you play the guitar or drums? Well if you play the guitar I think I can help you out. You pretty much play the first 4 chords with the same strumming pattern for each chord. Play along with the BTCS version. You'll play that first part twice. The second part is a little tricky to know when to change your chords. The best I can tell you is to get the switches down first, then try to play along with the recording to get the timing down. The third part is very short and its pretty easy. I hope that helps :)

I made a litte recording for you. The first part runs up to the 0:19 mark, the second goes to 0:37. Hope this helps:

thanks for all the suggestions. i have the ultrasound, so ill check that out. ive been playing guitar for about 4 months now. ive been able to pick up most of crash, the stone, and one sweet world, but just having trouble getting that rythm down in pnp.

the recording is awesome, thanks. ill try playing along with that.

also for any other beginning guitarists, guitarnoise.com is a good website. they list a lot of beginner songs along with the mp3s. they have intermediate stuff too.
