Hey everybody, my name is Peggy Labor and I've just got to get my story heard. My story is unfortunately, sad... but it must be told. My boyfriend, Joshua Scurlock, passed away on November 13, 2004. He drowned in a rip tide off of Satellite Beach, Florida. He was my soul mate. We were two 19 year old kids looking for a new life in Florida. We moved down there in September. Josh was going to go to Full Sail, a music trade school. He was amazing. He played acoustic guitar and recorded tons of music. He was the love of my life and my life hasn't been the same since he's been gone. So, in memory of him... I plan to do something big. Something to let him live on through all people. I need help in getting his music out. I don't want to make any money, I don't want to be famous, I just want him heard. So if you can help me in any way... mainly giving me information about how to get his stuff copyrighted so nobody takes his music. Or if you can lead me in the right direction to get his music heard, it would be greatly appreciated.
If you'd like to help, just e-mail me at mtlabor@aol.com
Or simply reply to this thread.
And if you'd like to hear some of his brilliant music, I'd be happy to share it.

Peggy Labor

you dont seem to be really involved in the board here, so ill just let you know that you might want to post in only one of these sub-forums. you didnt know, but they dont like you doing that. i think theyll let you slide, because of the extreme circumstances. really hope you get through this though, but i dont know any way to help. sorry

edit: hopefully i dont sound insensitive by replying as i did. sorry if i came off that way

www.copyright.gov

Has all the forms you need to copyright something.
That sucks about the riptide. It's too late now, but remember to swim parallel to shore.

Regardless of his intentions, it is still amazing that people on these boards just cannot resist correcting someone else.

:thumbsup

it seems like some people are just dicks to be dicks around here. like someone said, the www.copyright.gov site should have most of what you need to know.

sorry about your loss

you people are really ignorant. she's asking for your help and you're bickering like stupid bitches. ANYWAY peggy, try Pat M like I said in the other post. also, someone said this which i thought you might wanna look into:

if you post his music up on a site it is copyrited. you can mail the lyrics to yourself with josh as the return addresser and do not open the envelope. this will protect the lyrics.

there are many sites to upload his music. I suggest putting the site in your signature.

I'm sorry to hear about this. the pain and hurt most likely is unbearable. death is so very hard. warm thoughts to you during this time.

much love and in spirit,

again, i'm not too sure on how this would work but it seems very conveniant. also, i wanted to ask if you just had the songs on paper OR recordings of the songs. if you had recordings i would make some backups just in case or even go as far to take them to a bank and seal them there. a friend of mine and myself are in the process of building a recording studio and i myself have been learning the ropes of recording software and such. if you were to have recordings i'm sure someone could work with them and enhance them. if you have some recordings i would love to hear them. you can send them to alphatabs@yahoo.com. i'm truly sorry about your circumstances and would love to help out in anyway possible, even if it's only a little! :) Dustin

EDIT: OH YEAH! Post your question in this thread:
