Dark Match: Zack Ryder beat Drew McIntyre. Ryder got a nice pop. Apparently he's a full-fledged babyface now. About a five-minute match. Drew dominated, but Ryder came back and hit the Rough Ryder for the win.

Yeah, but I'm at least interested to see where this goes. Hopefully it's more akin to the Summer Of Punk from 2005. I think worst case scenario is he loses on July 17th and that's it. But even then it's not that bad, considering some time off would be ideal. Recharge himself.

I honestly think it's a storyline. He has probably agreed to a new contract with a lighter work schedule and they are just playing off the heat the contract situation has already recieved.
I could see it like this, Punk wins in his home town and says he is going out as the champ then the GM buzz's and says something to the effect that if he leaves the company then the title would be given back to Cena and that he needs to hand the belt over to Cena. Punk then decides that he will remain champ just to keep it from Cena and then each week Punk "crashes" RAW with no fear of being fired since he was going to leave anyway.

There's a lot of different directions they could go with this. Which is again why I think the lamest one would be to have him lose to Cena and that's it. Heck, beating Cena and losing to a MITB cash-in would be better. But with a potential Summer Of Punk rehash, or ideas like your's, there's a lot to work with. Maybe he wins and works through August when his contract was rumored to be up, or September likewise, defending his title until he loses it. Makes me curious to see how SummerSlam would work out if Punk is there on July 18th.
I could see ADR winning MITB and cashing in at SS after Punk loses to Cena. Not the first time Cena would have a 15 minute title reign. :thumbsdow

All NewZ sites are hit and miss. I used to check them back in the day. Sometimes its just flat out bull. Sometimes is partial truthes. Sometimes it's spot on. It depends on the contributor and the type of information.

I think it's no coincidence whatsoever TNA has dropped off immensely over the last literally year and a half. TNA in it's early days blows today's crap off the planet. The X Division was truly great at one point. I remember watching rando links guys would post and PM around an old forum back in like 2003-2006. Of just good TNA matches. I miss it.

I completely agree. I liked TNA because they were something different from WWE. I liked the 6 sided ring. I liked the X division and all the acrobatic matches. I even thought the Main Event Mafia wasn't the worst thing. Now it is just a mess with all these WWE rejects running around.
Companies should just understand that they can honestly never compete with the WWE and strive to bring an alternative to the table for people over the age of 12.

It's odd, because I really didn't like the 6-sided ring. I think they could have had a strong happy medium with a 4-sided ring yet X Division focal point. But with the talents they've brought in over the last couple years, that alone is a huge hindrance to the product itself.
There's a reason most of these guys and girls are in TNA. The ones that "shouldn't" have rare instances, such as Daniels being 40 years old, and Frankie Kazarian actually working with WWE, but requesting a release when they were ending the Cruiserweight division. Which is a crime because Kazarian can be so much more than a high flyer or spot guy, so I consider them both (WWE and Kaz) somewhat "wrong".
How Hogan, Flair, Foley, Sting, Anderson, RVD, Hardy, Abyss, Bubba Ray Dudley, and apparently now Gunner can be pushed over guys like Alex Shelley, Robert Roode, FK, Daniels, James Storm, is beyond me. It completely alienates their original fanbase for Hulk and/or WCW fanboys.
EDIT - I agree with your post, by the way. Didn't mean to just rant like that.

Some people just don't get it. I'll say this.. Bully Ray is probably the best heel in either company right now. He's doing some great work on the mic right now. He may not be able to put on 5-star matches, but he's someone that people would pay to see get his ass beat in the main event of a PPV. It wouldn't shock me if they put the title on him at some point.
The Bound For Glory series is going to elevate someone that isn't Hulk Hogan or a WCW fanboy favorite. The fact that guys like Roode and Storm are participating as singles stars seems to me that they are being "pushed," to a degree. They could've easily put in guys like Matt Hardy, Jeff Jarrett, and Abyss.
When Daniels was on top, TNA did its lowest buyrates (according to the same people who others on here think provide accurate numbers all of the time).

I understand what you are saying about TNA. They aren't perfect, but with some of the choices they have made they are setting themselves up for failure. Bringing in the people who brought down something as big as the WCW is just plain stupid.
If I were TNA I would have stayed the way I was and carved out a comfortable niche with all the more hardcore wresting fans and just been content to stay there for now. You can't judge their performance by the same characteristics of the WWE like buyrates. If your weekly shows are a consistent 1.0 and you can live without getting the 3 or 4's of the WWE then that is fine. You keep your loyal fans. Then if the WWE continues to alienate some older fans with the PG cartoony things like Cena then they can go out and find you. If done right, over time you can develop into a solid alternative to the WWE.
Right now I don't see much long term planning with either company. The difference is TNA doesn't have the brand loyalty to keep being kinda schizo with their product.

I disagree with the last part. If WWE didn't choose it's current path and direction, would keeping guys like Hardy and Anderson and Hardy etc have given people like Sheamus, Barrett, Del Rio, and Rhodes the opportunity and platforms they've had? To a certain extent you're right. I always saw the WWE more interested in the entertainment side of things. They kept things simple in the old days with superhero Hogan against the latest bad guy the Vince found and pushed.
I always preferred the old NWA/WCW way of spending more of their focus on the wrestling side. When Vince was losing the Monday Nights Wars he decided to fight fire with fire, and luckily he had the people to pull it off (ironically most of them WCW rejects like Steve Austin, Mick Foley and HHH). Once the war was over I think Vince wanted to start taking the company back into the PG area because that is what he was comfortable with, and with no competition he could with no repercussions.
Now though all the Attitude Era guys are just about gone and he needed to find a new direction. I like many of the younger guys out there, and I think he may be doing the right thing in trying to lock in the kids today for the benefit of tomorrow. I just think people want to see things as great as they were in the late 90's but we will never see that again.

This is just my opinion after being back into wrestling for the past few months, but Jinder Mahal is a better heel than Bully Ray. That kinda puts it into perspective.

WWE posted another update on the voting errors that were made during Monday's "Power to the People" edition of Raw. They noted that Sin Cara actually earned 90 percent of the vote and should have faced Evan Bourne, but the error resulted in Mason Ryan facing Bourne instead.
The story also notes that voters wanted Vickie Guerrero banned from ringside when Dolph Ziggler defended the U.S. Title against Kofi Kingston. Due to the error, the company went with a best of three falls match.

The fact that you don't know who Jinder Mahal is makes it ten times more obvious as to why you think Bully Ray is the best heel in wrestling. The Miz puts Bully Ray to shame and as much as I dislike Alberto Del Rio, he pisses on Bully Ray on the mic.

Well there's the $5 ones that are like foam with plastic on them. You can find at any toy store or WalMart or whatever. Obviously not what you have in mind. I think there used to be one type of replica belts and one type of authentic belts, one of which was more expensive than the other. Kind of like how professional sports jerseys are made. Maybe WWE stopped and/or changed and now all the belts are just replicas for kids and replicas for adults, adults being like 200-300+. I'm probably completely wrong so just ignore this hahaha.
For example, Zack's Internet Championship seems more legit than a plastic toy store belt, but it's not a IC Title replica. So I don't know how it works. Must be a kids replica?
JacobLovesYou
06-21-2011, 11:20 PM

So I finally youtubed the raw main event and man was it underwhelming. I like that Miz and Christian got revenge for CP losses but if it was anyone on the heel side that hit their finisher in the middle of the ring after being eliminated it would have been instaDQ but not for Super Cena/Orton. Such a lame ending.
Also Orton has such a heel look and he should be the heel not Christian. Also it was killing me hearing Book say how Christian had his shot and it's over. Such a waste if Christian doesn't get a decent title run soon

I love you K3nWo but honestly Miz and Del Rio are a million times better than the Bully. I was so down on WWE for a long time, but they have a bunch of guys (Miz, Del Rio, WWWYKI, Punk, Riley, Dolph, Morrison, Truth, etc...) that could carry this company for a long time. Not seeing that with TNA right now, despite the fact that I love that TNA is 14 and hate that WWE is PG. But Raw is just a better show than Impact right now.
P.S. I still absolutely love Hogan and watch TNA because of him.
Right now, Bully Ray is cutting better promos than anyone in either company. I just think a lot of "fans" get too enamored with the one-liners some of these entertainment stars use.

How the fuck is a 60-second backstage promo considered "hanging with Austin"? I said earlier that I was willing to give CM Punk the benefit of the doubt. I'm not going to argue just for the sake of arguing.

They can shoot every episode in the same place, I don't give a shit. The product is shit. The booking is ridiculous. Of course the program has to improve, but showing a replay is still a good idea. For WWE its not cause they don't want to jeopardize ad revenue, but the loyal K3n's of the world are still going to tune in on Thurs, so Tues should work to try and reach more viewers.

TNA matches are sloppy and unexciting (of course they're unexciting when you don't like the product), but WWE's aren't? I'll put Styles/Bully Ray from Slammiversary up against any WWE match from this year. Of course it's easy to not be sloppy and unexciting when they use the same four fucking moves every match. No psychology? Do you watch the PPVs? I guess I'm going to have to come out and explain things to you guys during the shows. The characters don't make people care? Yeah.. there's so many interesting characters on WWE right now that PPV buyrates and tv show ratings are going through the roof.
The last two three-hour Raws were terrible. WWE is going through the motions right now. You can't say that about TNA.

The E has some sloppy workers, and I call them out for it CONSTANTLY. Mostly from Kofi (who ironically IS a young over guy.) Yes, I do watch the PPVs, and most of the shows that I can see. Psychology is more than JUST the story line, it's doing things during the matches that makes sense. All of the TNA guys, save for Kurt and a couple others, have ALWAYS been shit psychology guys. RVD in particular. I just watched an E match he was in yesterday, and today...holy fuck was he bad. NOTHING he did made sense. Never took advantage of an injury. Never sold an injury throughout a match, etc.
If you're going to use that for the E, the TV ratings and PPV buys and such, turn that back on TNA as proof of JUST HOW BAD THEY ARE. No one buys their shit, no one watches their shit. If we're just going off of what you're saying, WWE tv is at least 3 times better than TNA tv. PPV buy rates I'm not really privy to, but obviously WWE smokes TNA in that department as well.
They weren't terrible, and the last one wasn't NEARLY as bad as everyone thought it would be. The Dolph v Kofi match was really good until the finish. The dance competition was good old fashioned stupid humor. The ME was a wasted opportunity, and even THAT set things up for the next month. Plus, the Punk, Del Rio, Rey match was GREAT. Better than anything I've seen from TNA that I've seen on TV. (I'm going to watch their lone 5 star match tomorrow.)
The announcers are WORLDS better than TNA. The feuds are all strong right now, with a Punk v Cena feud that might last the summer. There's a lot of intrigue on Raw right now, and Smackdown! is just BRILLIANT at the moment.

NOTHING he did made sense. Never took advantage of an injury. Never sold an injury throughout a match, etc.
There's actually not alot of people that try to sell injuries anymore. Morrison is one of the few I can remember that did it more than others. Orton too if you can include him falling down during his punt attempt a few months ago.
Most of the time though, you'll see a guy get a part obliterated, then disregard it at the end of the match to come away with a victory. No Sell Cena is great for doing this.
They should go back to backstage assaults (actual visible ones, not Truths segment Monday. Besides, running an equipment cart over a guys head and getting no lasting injuries is one of the most outrageously unsellable things I can think of).
Like when The Rock beat the hell out of Foley's leg before their Last Man Standing match. It was believable, and you wondered how much of an advantage The Rock would have from such an attack.
The announcers are WORLDS better than TNA. The feuds are all strong right now, with a Punk v Cena feud that might last the summer. There's a lot of intrigue on Raw right now, and Smackdown! is just BRILLIANT at the moment.
Gotta disagree there. While Tenay and Tazz might not be the best combo, Cole for majority of this year has made their tandem horrible. Booker doesn't provide much insight outside of lulz when he botches his commentating. Even Cole and Lawler totally making up out of the blue makes no sense and makes things even stupider.
BotheDMBFan
06-23-2011, 11:12 AM
Cole has been fantastic this year. Booker usually provides good insight, and ofcourse some of those lulz (Some intentional, some unintentional.) TNA announcers are seriously just a step above the ROH announcer(s) (When they rock two, it's even worse).
JacobLovesYou
06-23-2011, 11:16 AM
i think cole has been golden the past few weeks. his commentating was really awkward after the rushed lawler make up, but now he's fit into the role of a normal heel commentator. the shit that bugs me is when does excited play by play for the faces. RAW should be lawler, matthews, and cole. SD's commentating lineup is perfect because a taped show works better for booker right now.
