Just goes to show you how much of a genius Vince still is. Punk probably did go up to him and express all of his problems with how they are using him and stuff and Vince may have agreed and said lets play on this and really get it going. I may have to order MITB.

kittensXLI
06-27-2011, 11:23 PM
I think you can stretch it farther than that. Punk just owned it. The more this goes the more I think there is no script or storyline and Vince is allowing Punk to let loose since he knows he is gone. Also did they blank out douche bags?

I'm sure Vince was behind that, but it was still refreshing to hear someone talk like that.

Yeah. No way it wasn't a work.
Agreed with all of you guys. It's not going on TV without clearance from Vince. Unreal promo, but definitely had some sort of skeleton script.

I mean, the reason I started watching again a few months back was because of all the rumblings surrounding Punk's contract situation. I've always liked him and figured that if this was his swan song with the WWE, I'd tune in to watch it. Everything he said tonight rang so true and partially explains why I gave up on the WWE in the first place.

That said, I have also grown fond of ADR since I tuned back in and continue to support Randy Orton despite the Viper gimmick having long outstayed its welcome. I guess Miz is enjoyable enough, but I will never be able to fully embrace given how much of a Real World fan I used to be. :lol

Bully Campaign? This was a work of course and if you remember 12 years ago Vince let Jeff Jarrett "shoot" on a live Raw. Remember? Remember when Heyman cut the promo on Vince and threw his hat at him? Been there, done that. Good promo by CM Punk and he'll win Best on Interviews with the 2011 WON Awards w/that promo alone. What happens at the next stock brokers meeting when Steph and HHH take minutes and the marks in the audience ask if that was real?

I feel like Alberto Del Rio is definitely one of the guys longtime fans or older aged fans appreciate. His gimmick, promos, technical in-ring talent, etc. are all very good. Obviously being PG, it's harder to market that, which in return makes it tougher for ADR in my opinion. But he's someone more for "us" than kids, and he's dang good. So happy you've started warming up to him. :thumbsup

I agree with you completely about Orton too. Not a fan of the Viper whatsoever.

Big Miz fan over here.

I'll be pretty mad if ADR doesn't win MITB.
I don't think it's a secret they've been kicking around ADR/Cena for SummerSlam. So if it takes MITB to do it, so be it. But ADR getting back to the main event is something I for one look forward to no matter how it happens.

I think it's gotta be between him and Riley at this point. I'm leaning towards Riley winning, because I don't think ADR needs it, even though I'd rather see ADR win.
I agree, ADR doesn't seem to need MITB. I don't think The Miz "needs" it either, but as far as storylines go, I thought it made sense for him to win it. Some outlandish and unrealistic dream scenario of mine is for Miz to win MITB, but save his cash-in for WM28. Announce ahead of time he's cashing in that night, like during the build-up to it. Even if Cena loses the title between now and then, he'll assumingly get it back. So Miz announcing his cash-in near the PPV and when Cena is champion, Rock could put Miz over huge, and for the title. Then prolong Rock/Cena until the next PPV if not SummerSlam 2012. But again, just a massive dream scenario.

Why is he wearing an Austin shirt?
Punk is straight edge, and obviously Austin is a beer swilling redneck. They've had an on-going yet playful "feud" primarily outside WWE programming about Punk being "better than" Austin and playing into their lifestyles. It was eventually teased on Raw two weeks ago in a brief backstage altercation between them. Just pulling at the heartstrings of people with a dream match of Punk/Austin on their wishlists.

haven't decided yet whether or not i want look at the spoilers for next week...
I hate that next week isn't live. The live atmosphere is just so noticably different for me. I think Smackdown would be a lot different, at least in perception, if it was live too. I never really read spoilers, but this week is going to be tough. So pumped to see where this goes.

Bo and I a week or so ago kicked around (lame/dream) ideas of what would or could happen. It wouldn't be surprising, to us at least, that he's already re-signed or in the process of re-signing. But the main thing being he's taking time off before actually coming back. I think it could be a test as well, at least with marketing. Maybe they're going to see how well this storyline goes over before giving him a final new offer. See how the ratings do, the buys do, and maybe merchandise as well. It's all got to be leverage.

Or he'll straight up be done. lol. I love that we really have no idea what's going to happen. Makes this all so much more awesome to see unfold. I'm very excited for whatever happens, even if he's finished. I think he should take some time off regardless, but being on fire now how can you?

my idea for punk:

it includes a few minor spoilers from thing that're happening at the taping so i'll spoil it

at the end of next weeks/tonights taping, vince comes out and tells Cena that he can't allow punk to fight at MITB after what he said. HHH's music hits and he talks about the future and his own part in it. cena asks vince to let HHH decide punk's fate. it takes H a minute, but he says punk gets to fight.

then, at MITB, when cena looks to be in control of the match, HHH comes out and hits cena with the sledgehammer and punk wins. to end the PPV, HHH cuts a promo saying that the company is in new hands and that together, punk and him are going to change the WWE.

complete pipe dream, but would be sooooooo bad ass

@ KMHeiman

There was certainly much more that could have been done, especially in regards to Punk himself. What I like about it is that Cena's persona actually gains a little substance, which in turn benefits the WWE as a whole and gives Punk a little more clout (especially with those fans who think he is joking when he says he is the best the WWE has to offer). Absent Punk signing an undisclosed contract extension though, they couldn't really afford to let this thing run its course. The PPV is only 3 weeks away and there has to be some sort of buildup, absent the suspension being real.

@ clayj41

The only thing I really hate is the whole Cena fired angle. We ALL know that the WWE isn't actually going to fire Cena, and this leaves me to believe that CM Punk literally has no chance of winning anymore. Because up until now, I actually thought he did. Cena will win, Punk will leave, and that'll be the end of it. I really thought they could have done so much more with this angle, but maybe they still will. At this point, I'd be shocked if Punk didn't sign a new contract already (he'll probably take a few months off and then come back), but it'll still be interesting to see how this pans out.

I hate the new stipulation. Because we all know there is 0% chance Cena is going anywhere and we are questioning Punk's status. Makes us feel like we know the outcome of the match. Doesn't mean they can't have Cena lose and then reinstated, but c'mon, they could have come up with something better than that.

http://www.wrestlezone.com/news/article/exclusive-backstage-reaction-to-cm-punks-raw-promo-131989

While some people backstage knew it was coming, CM Punk's shoot promo on Monday Night Raw certainly had everyone buzzing. When Punk started talking about being "a Paul Heyman guy," and referenced controversial, past WWE names like Brock Lesnar, many wrestlers watching on the monitor were said to be "simply and solidly stunned" according to one WWE Superstar we spoke with, and several others were trying to find out Talent Exec John Laurinaitis' reaction as well.

While no one believes Punk went into business for himself, the majority of the Raw locker room was said to be "in shock" (according to one source in production) over how strong the shoot promo was, and the delivery.

We will have tons more on this breaking story as it continues to develop. After reading the results from next week it obviously wasn't a shoot, and it never was a shoot. since his mic would have been cut off immediately.

So apparently people want to see an ROH stable? Punk, Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson), Kings Of Wrestling (Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli, assuming they sign[ed] contracts), Evan Bourne (Matt Sydal), Matt Stryker, and from FCW Seth Rollins (Tyler Black).

Talk about completely unrealistic nonsense. Although 6 of those 7 guys are awesome. That's a bigger pipedream than the "TNA should get Paul Heyman" stuff.

Is Danielson unhappy with where he is too? I really like the feud he has going on with Cody, it's been one of the really bright spots on Smackdown for awhile now. If he just gets a little bit better on the stick, he could be a huge face in my opinion. He's definitely got the ring skills.

Some more Dolph :

Michelle McCool recently revealed that your match at this year’s WrestleMania was cut short about 17 1/2 minutes. We didn’t get to see much from you in the match, so just as we’ve asked her, we’re going to ask you: were there any cool spots or surprises planned that you didn’t get to do?
“It was WrestleMania, so of course I had some tricks up my sleeve! I live for the spotlight and on the biggest stage of them all? Two of the brightest up-and-comers in this business, Morrison and myself, were looking to steal the show! We didn’t get the chance, so you better believe that we are drooling at that opportunity for next time! Ziggler vs. Morrison at WrestleMania would be near impossible to top, mark my words! Oh, also? Snooki was totally flirting with me so much, that she almost didn’t slap me.”

What is your biggest pet-peeve?
“Biggest pet peeve: snootiness! People often forget where they come from, or that they used to borrow money for food or gas, whatever! No matter how rich or cool or famous you are, you are not better than anyone else.”

$100: is that still a lot of money to you?
“100 dollars is still a lot of money! I just love that I don’t have to borrow it in order to spend it. I remember I wanted to take this girl on a date in college and I simply couldn’t, I had just enough for a case of NATURAL Light and could never afford dinner for two, even at The Olive Garden! I eventually had to tell her, and she thought it was cute, so win-win, right? haha (and she ended up buying me several dinners) thanks, Jac!”

Give us one ambition that is on your bucket list.
“I don’t do bucket list stuff, but I have done so many amazing things because of the company I work for, that to this day, it just blows my mind, and I’m only just getting started! But I could honestly see myself taking over for Hugh Hefner or maybe even Vince McMahon one day (my two favorite loves, sports entertainment and… um… the “magazine business” hahaha)”

When you arrive at TV and you learn that you’ll either be backstage with Vickie Guerrero watching a match for a few split seconds, or hashing out potential offers with The Miz, or even doing commentary, how does that affect your mojo? You’re not booked in a match, so what keeps you motivated and hopeful for the next show?
“Again, I’m a wrestling and sports entertainment fan, so I love to watch a live show and watch my friend’s matches, or just walk up into gorilla and yell about Zack Ryder being on the screen for a few seconds! I love doing what I do so much, that it does affect me when I don’t get to perform for the live audience, but… it is a television show. We all have different parts to help make it work, but don’t think that I wont make up for it at our live events! That’s where there is more fan interaction and EVERYONE is there to have a great experience!”

Realistically though, with Punk openly disparaging the company and essentially saying fuck you I'm out The Rock isn't wrong in calling him out.

Strongly disagree with that. Rock's widely known to put people over - Goldberg at Backlash, Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, Jericho and Angle have each pinned The Rock at multiple PPVs, losing to Austin the first two WMs they fought, The freaking Hurricane on Raw. He's not some non-pinnable, always wins guy. Cena's going to go over too. I find it hard to believe if Punk/Rock had a one-off match, that Rock would win.

Before Punk's promo Monday I'd agree. But I don't see why they'd do that if he was openly saying he was leaving.

I like that Rock is a beatable guy too, but it would seem like everyone would if that happened. Punk beat Rock and left, and Rock made his grand return to the ring to lose to a guy leaving the company.

Unless I just totally misinterpreted the post and there's a totally different Punk scenario and he was actually content and happy with WWE.

I think I assumed you were talking about Rock/Punk at WM...?

Actually, I don't know. Rock/Punk at any PPV in a one-off match would see Punk winning, in my opinion. Doesn't matter if it's WM or not.

I guess I mean for the post in relation to pretty much any situation, with the one exception being Punk leaves/Rock returns. With Rock not returning full-time anyway that situation seemed pointless to factor. Was your post about Punk/Rock at MITB instead of Punk/Cena?

Crush086

I was talking WM. That's what I thought the topic was since Rock was mentioned. But given Punk's departure imminent I don't see how he'd stay with a company he hated all the way to WM.

If Punk was staying I'd imagine Rock would put him over no problem, but current circumstances I wouldn't see that happening.

I'd rather Vince not come back as the main villian; too much of a rehash of the Austin era. I think it'd be cool if they could work this into a Cena heel turn.

Anyways, I think Vince wants one more lap around the track as a regular on-screen guy. This would be perfect for him, Punker gets his love. I think (hope) this leads to Punk v Austin at WM.

I'd like it. Love Vince on camera. And they can easily do it where it is more Punk vs. Cena than Vince vs. Cena. But if Punk sticks around or even if he returns after a couple of months and continues his major attitude he can become an Austin-like face. No way a crowd can boo a guy like that.

BotheDMBFan
06-30-2011, 09:21 AM
Punk is a significantly better heel than he is a face. I can see him hating on heel Vince and STILL getting the heel heat over Vince. I'm really curious to see what happens.

hbktonyb
06-30-2011, 09:30 AM
I agree, he is an incredible heel. But with him, I could really see fans cheering the hell out of him. But they have to keep him like Austin was...act like a heel even though you are a face.

McMahon/Punk vs HHH/Cena

I know HHH/McMahon was done over and over again with DX, But this could be a lot different. Do it as Business Man HHH who now goes by Hunter and sides with Cena, and says that Cena is way more marketable than Punk. Vince THEN sides with Punk only to spite his Son-in-Law. This would get the kiddies really hating on punk because Vince really knows how to pander to the crowd. It could also possibly get Cena some cool factor with the older crowd because Haitch is endorsing him, even though he is fighting for what is 'right'.

There are so many ways they could go with this thing. It is truly one of the best storylines to come out of WWE in a long time.

All i keep imagining is the top of the 9 pm hour Vinces music hits and he gives a 5 minute promo that is just getting the crowd so fired up and boo's are raining down upon him. Then in mid sentence, as he is dogging Cena, BAM HHH's music hits and the crowd erupts, Hunter comes down to the ring in a suit, and starts defending Cena and tells vince that he has lost it, and that it is time for him to step aside and let him (hunter) take things over.

Vince is appalled at the idea, and furthermore is disgusted that Hunter would side with Cena. Vince freaks out and tries to slap Haitch who then knocks him down and rips off his shirt and points towards the entrance ramp telling him to leave. Vince leaves the ring pissed.

Later in the night we see Vince entering CM Punks locker room.

At the top of the 10pm hour Cena comes out and cuts the standard Cena promo with Haitch at his side.

CM Punk interrupts and cuts from the top of the ramp. He panders to the crowd's boo's and eventually introduces his new business partner, Vince McMahon.

Vince is still the owner of the company and says that tonights main event will be CM Punk vs HHH with Vince as the special guest ref and Cena is banned from ringside.

how is that for heeling it up and making compelling TV?

You'll have to quote to read this...

It wouldn't make sense on the marketability front, because Vince already has said that Punk isn't marketable, and that he doesn't deserve any of it. Spite is one thing, but there's gotta be more to it than that.

Which would be lame and shitty. I really don't think this needs HHH until Punk and Vince get a CLEAR advantage over Cena. That said, none of this crap will happen and Punk will leave and then get a job working at Haagen Dazs.

Gunner pinned World Champion Sting a few weeks ago.

Then he wasn't on the last PPV TNA just had.

Then Gunner pinned new World Champion Mr. Anderson the next week on Impact.

Then he wasn't on the following Impact after that (last week).

So really, none of the "booking" makes any sense whatsoever.
