WWE is still looking to launch its own cable network, probably sometime in 2011.
to quote The Miz: REALLY?? REALLY???
Vince wants a WWE cable network? what in the blue hell are they going fill it with? they only put out 8 hours of programming a week with Raw, Smackdown, NXT, & Superstars. I mean if they want to go ahead and show old pay per views and such i am all for it. Kinda like a WWE 24/7. But i doubt vince is cool enough to do that.
AndySlash
04-12-2010, 10:57 PM
Vince would be "cool enough" to do that. There's a lot more money to be made with a cable channel than what they currently have for getting their product on TV. They're sitting on a goldmine of tape libraries. Even if they show eight hours a week of new material, they would be making advertising revenue on the remaining 160 hours in the week from old programming, which costs absolutely nothing to produce.
Even getting a channel on a cable provider's "sports package" would be a huge revenue stream with low operating costs for them, and better than the current 24/7 subscription model. Over time all of their main shows could migrate to the channel, and they wouldn't have to deal with any other network bullshit. It's a no brainer for Vince to try and get one.

Crush086

Raw's ending was so stupid. I knew Cena would come out the moment Swagger did. Also, what looked like Swagger being too antsy to hit his finisher looked goofy. At least hit Orton in the back a time or two and then hit the move. It looked so dumb with Orton hoisting himself up and looking helpless.
TNA had a pretty solid show though. And Lethal Lockdown will undoubtedly be better than Extreme Rules (which will hardly be extreme).

I just have a feeling WWE would lose a lot of viewers if they went to a Sports package. However, I am all for it, if it's in HD. And there is TONS upon TONS upon TONS of footage. Think about it, there is 881 Raw, and 555 Smackdown episodes. That is insane! Not to mention all the over stuff they have produced like ECW, Velocity, Sunday Night Heat, etc.

True, and I thought about that, but think about this way. TNA is basically WCW: Retirement Home. What would the incentive be to show WCW shows? I say nothing. Why show matches of wrestlers that your "competing against"? Of course I am talking about the here and now. The Bulldogs were before my time, but looking at just title records, they only had one reign. Granted it was for 294 days, I'm just not too familiar with them. Maybe replace the Dudley Boys with them.
The Hardy Boys, despite having six reigns, only had the belts for 150 combined days. Not taking titles into consideration, I still feel they were kind of overrated. The whole being brothers thing must not have reeled me in enough.
The Steiners seemed more WCW to me, but then again I guess the Dudley Boys could be argued as more ECW, so I don't know.

The Midnight Rockers was an awesome Tag Team.
How is it that Demolition were mentioned before the Rockers? Hands down my favorite tag team. I wish Marty would have laid off the nose candy enough to have a decent career. Vince gave him (and still does!) plenty of chances because he knows the potential he had.
The Rockers were the best. Remember though when Marty started the New Rockers with Al Snow? haha..that was terrible

WWE RAW did a 3.2 rating last night.
TNA Impact did a 0.8 rating, with TNA Reaction doing an 0.3.
Eric Bishoff will do anything to try to get better ratings. He moves the timeslot, creates new shows, anything except trying to create a more quality product to put on TV. Eric may be smart but his Ego will always kill him in the end. WWE never really seems to even think about ratings.

why care about ratings when they sell thousands of of merchandise items each night at events that creates huge revenue.

I guess you didn't watch Impact last night. Show was solid.
Why would WWE care about the ratings? They've been on Monday nights since 1993. TNA hasn't even been on Monday nights for six months. Again.. it's going to take some time.
0.8 isn't bad for a taped show and Raw did the same as last week. I'm not too disappointed.

WWE today announced the move of Smackdown to Syfy, moving to 8-10 p.m. on Fridays starting 10/1. It also noted the cancellation of NXT, meaning Smackdown will be the only wrestling show on the network.
The Friday programming that had been on Syfy is being moved to Tuesdays as part of the schedule change in the fall.

Yes, Earthquake John Tenta is dead. He died from bladder cancer some years ago. Typhoon (also known as Tugboat) when on to become the Shockmaster who had one of the most hilarious wrestling gaffes I've ever seen on TV. But yeah, I think the Earthquakes finishing move was one of the most devastating finishing moves ever. Yokozuna's was crazy too (and he is also dead).
I was just watching an old Summerslam, Warrior and Rude in a cage. I totally forgot how Rude would get into the ring before a match and say "cut the music. What I'd like right now is for all you fat, out of shape, philadelphia sweathogs to be keep your mouths closed while I take my robe off and show all the ladies what a real sexy man looks like".

Even though both The Miz and Matt Hardy twittered about the Raw crew would be traveling almost 24 hours straight to make Leivin from Strasbourg today, the trip is actually only 330 miles. Miz later twittered it was a six hour bus ride. Getting to Belfast tomorrow is going to be hell, though.
They probably have to take a bus to Calais, a ferry to Dover or a sub-alantic train, and then get from the Southeast to Northwest, so this sounds like a minimum of 13 hours of travel.
Smackdown has a 470 mile trip from Hannover to Zurich today, then 180 miles to Innsbruck on Saturday. If things don't clear up, and the hope is that they will by then, getting to Istanbul from Innsbruck on Sunday is going to be almost impossible without flying.
If the volcano keeps sputtering ashes, getting the Raw crew out of Belfast to New York is going to be touch-and-go. They may have to shuttle them back to the European mainland and fly them to New York from there. Anyway, unless the volcano lets up, they are in for one of those trips they can tell their grandkids about but is no fun while it's going on.

Jeff Hardy suffered minor burns on his face when James Storm threw the fireball at him at last Tuesday's TNA Impact taping (the segment aired on Monday's Impact). A TNA source notes that the company had a stunt expert work with Storm and Hardy throughout the day of the taping.
However, it actually took Storm three attempts to blow the fireball at Hardy, so there was heavy editing done to the scene that aired on Impact. The substance that Storm was spitting got on Hardy's face during the second attempt, so when Storm blew the actual fireball the third time it ignited the substance and caused the burning.

The Raw crew is set to finish its tour tonight in Belfast and then fly back to New York for Raw at the Izod Center. Whether, due to most airports in Europe being grounded, that will be possible has become a big question. The Miz just twittered saying it isn't looking good. Belfast was considered the best place to get out of, based on wind activity in Northern Europe.
The plan was for the crew to charter a flight from Belfast after today's show, but the airports in Northern Ireland have been shut down.
The Smackdown crew is in even worse shape. They have been on a bus trying to get to a place in Europe to fly back home. Chris Jericho twittered that it has been 36 hours since any of them have seen a bed and with no end in sight, joking that these past few days have taken years off his career, and he's looking at doing his retirement match on Monday night against MacGruber. He said the bus was about to break down. They were en route to Spain, but the airport they were looking at taking off from is apparently closed.
No specific decison has been made regarding the taping of Monday and Tuesday's show (scheduled for the Mohegan Sun Casino) at this point.

With the Smackdown crew finally landing in the United States very early on Sunday morning, Matt Hardy and Chris Jericho have tweeted their journey.
Here's what Matt Hardy (http://twitter.com/matthardybrand) wrote:
"Here's the deal-Wake up at 6 am Fri morn, prep, travel, & catch a train at 11 am (5 hrs) Uncomfortable train ride from Hannover, Germany to Zurich, Switzerland that took 7 hrs (12 hrs) Go directly to venue & perform which was 5 hrs (17) Get on a bus for 6 hrs (23) Break, eat, & get the ONLY bus that would take us to Madrid, Spain (24 hrs) spent 18 torturous hours on that bus (42 hrs) to barely make our flight to the States which took almost 10 hrs (52 hrs) Clear customs, get to hotel and a bed took about 2 hrs (54 hrs total) Top that travel story guys!"
And here's what Chris Jericho (http://twitter.com/IAMJERICHO) tweeted:
"Been 36 hours since I've seen a bed. No end in sight either.... This trip is taking years off my career. I'm having my retirement match on Monday against Macgruber.. Our bus is about to break down. More redlights on the dash than a Christmas tree and the driver is on the phone while reading the manual.. The driver just crossed himself....lol! I'll just use the same predictions that I used for another board I'm on, instead of writing this all out twice...
Man, man, man... I have some really tough choices to make here this time around.
A.J. Styles (I could very well be wrong about this one. I think if this match goes on last -- which it probably will -- The Pope has a good chance of winning, thanks in part to Samoa Joe.)
Doug Williams (No reason for Williams to drop the title here.)
Velvet Sky and Madison Rayne (Love turns on Tara and rejoins the Beautiful People.)
Team Flair (As I said above in another post, this heel faction has a chance to be big. I think this is what has been missing in professional wrestling in a while. Knowing Russo, a swerve or two will take place. I see Jarrett turning on Team Hogan to join Team Flair. Jarrett just doesn't make a good face, in my opinion. The problem with this pick and the A.J. Styles pick is that I don't see TNA ending the PPV with two heel victories.)
Mr. Anderson (I thought about this for a while. With Angle taking a month off after the PPV, there are two possible endings. Either Angle wins and Anderson beats the living hell out of him afterwards. Or, Anderson wins and beats the living hell out of Angle afterwards. I don't like having Anderson lose here.)
Eric Young (This is another tough decision. I really don't know which way TNA is going to go here.)
Scott Hall and Sean Waltman (Had I picked Nash, I would've gone with Team 3D.)
Motor City Machineguns (After getting smashed on Impact by Morgan (mostly) and Amazing Red, the MCMGs come back strong in the PPV.)
James Storm (The heels pick up the advantage in the cage.)

Maybe with X-Pac no showing... they changed the finish to the Nash/Young match so that Nash could do two matches tonight.

If Rayne or Sky pin Angelina Love, they win the women's title. If Love or Tara pin one of the Beautiful People, then they win the tag titles. If Tara gets pinned, no titles change.

That sounds like it could've altered my pick, however, I can't tell any of the girls apart anyway, so it doesn't matter. Waste of PPV time regardless.

Well, I only have a few more 1997 episodes left to watch; and my 1999 torrent stopped :(... Do you have any links to 1998 I guess?
yeah i can search around for which one i used. how far along into 1999 were you before it stopped?

Kazarian wins the title. Solid match there.
At least the arena/setup and everything come across nice on TV (well.. my computer).

That is obviously being stricken from the pick'em right? I think FK is the shoe-in winner without the actual champion in the match.

That would be the case. Do you think I should leave on Nash/Hall vs. Team 3D?

I guess it's only fair to DQ altered post- event started matches. I think Nash replacing X-Pac isn't as much of a factor as other changes tonight, but might as well keep it consistently enforced.

I agree. The standard ramp+ring combination looks too good to not keep, and the rest of the set looks nice also.

I disagree. There's waaay too much time left on this PPV, and they're already probably going to load it with filler anyway. Lengthen the matches instead of adding more segments and video highlights. Sure, it's easier said than done, but that's just my fan perspective coming out.

I really only see three matches on the entire card worth counting at this point. I guess 4, assuming the Nash/Young wasn't altered because of X-Pac.
Is the no-show real or planned?

Everything is bad in every way imaginable. I see literally zero benefits from this PPV happening. In fact, TNA would have been better off not having a PPV this month than producing his trash.

So Angle twice decides to prolong the match instead of winning, and now throws the key out of the cage. I'll give them credit, at least it's a bit more interesting now.
