Yes, really. It's possible that this was a one-off and he'll go back on hiatus to rehab the shoulder, which wasn't fully rehabbed before the match, and will never be 100% again. In that case, the angle is entirely possible.

This. Re-read what I wrote. The six-man match is necessary to allow for proper heat to build again for the main event. This allows the crowd to cool down a bit; it's all ebb and flow.

I'm not sure how that could be designed to get Cena over. It's like HHH/Steph wants to turn Cena by doing stuff like this, Cena shows he's ready to by playing to the crowd (like Monday night, very heel thing for Cena to do), but Vince just can't bring himself to okay it.

Stuff like that video just reinforce my thoughts.

I don't think there's been a WM that ended with the heel winning the main event. And Edge had a successful defense.

I can't see Cena not winning. But if you want to get Miz over for good, tonight's the night to do it. He can drop the title to anyone tomorrow.

This. Chimmel was great back in the day, but now he doesn't carry the same energy as he used to, and every time he tries, he ends up cracking his voice. Ex: every time he announces Edge.

Anyway Roberts is good.
He's okay, but there are some nuances I just don't care for. I think I'm too partial to Fink's voice, especially for main events.
But I do agree with this. He's already there to announce the HOF class. Why not let him announce the main event?

In Roberts' defense, his time is now. Fink is always at wrestling events; he works for the company backstage. He can *always* come announce. But his time has come and gone. Announcing the main event, as much as I'd like, is a sign that your current commentator isn't up to snuff. They obviously feel that he is (and he IS good...I'm just partial to Fink), so Fink out there for the main event is pointless, and an insult to the guy you already have.

Cena is seriously such a trash worker. He simply cannot wrestle. He looks like shit.

Part of me thinks that this is because of the formula he's had to work for so long. He plays face-in-peril very well. The Rock went through this, too...his moveset became predictable when he was a face, because he played FIP so well, and sold everything beautifully, that he mainly only had time for his signature moves.

Cena, upon a time, was pretty good, and could tell a good story in the ring. But he's been a face for so long, he's stale...in and out of the ring.

JR and King were like so run down. It was weird. But I don't have many complaints at all. Most of the matches were really good if not great. Haitch put on the performance of a lifetime. I think tonight was all in all a great PPV and a very good WM at that. VERY good.

There might not have been the WM-caliber match or whatever, but nearly every match was good, minus the 8-man squash.

There were 3 great matches. HHH v Taker especially.

I'm surprised they've booked both Cena and Rock has heels lately, at least in their actions. I like it, because it equalizes them a bit.

I'll be curious to see what happens with the crowd if Cena continues to own Rock in promos. I'm a huge Rock fan (there may not be a bigger Rock mark than me...it still pisses me off that I lived in the same condo building as him in 2002, but my ex-wife got to meet him, while I was stuck meeting Urkel), but he's relying too much on his old stuff (and it seems like he's bothered by the PG stuff), while Cena handed him his ass on Monday. I'm greatly entertained by it all...but I'm curious to see what happens now.

Sucks for the WWE young talent. Sheamus and Daniel Bryan can't even make the actual PPV. The Corre, who holds the tag titles and IC belt, got squashed.

But hey.. in the end, The Rock looked great. Better hope he stays around full time.

I'd probably give the show a 6.5/10, maybe 7/10. Undertaker/Haitch bumped it up quite a bit.

I don't think Rock would've bothered with Miz tonight if they weren't setting up that showdown. I really think Rock/Cena will be for the title at SS, with Rock being champ. That feud doesn't need the title, so I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't. But it seems like Rock/Miz/Cena coming up is likely, then moving to Rock/Cena.

After that, I have no idea. I didn't watch much before Rock came back, though I've read a bunch of recaps and stuff. Still, I'm not sure how things would settle.

Rock/Miz would be fantastic. Rock isn't in in-ring shape yet, though. And I don't see the point of Miz dropping the belt to him, when as you said, Rock/Cena doesn't need a title. But Rock/Miz for the next month or two would be awesome.

After the way he was booked tonight, he *has* to be back. There's no way they'd do tonight if there wasn't Rock/Cena in the works for either a June PPV or SummerSlam.

I still maintain that Rock/Miz/Cena is now the central feud; either Rock will take the title in a three-way match and set up SummerSlam Rock/Cena for the title, or (and this would be smarter), they'd give the rub to Miz, and feud without the belt. It'd be the most efficient...no need to tie up the belt with those two. Miz needs the belt more.

I'd love for the GM to be anonymous for quite some time; really, who needs a GM with a face? This GM appears to be pretty unbiased, and can go heel and face pretty easily. An actual GM comes with a predisposition, and the fans have to take a side with him/her.

I don't know. I think you could give him the Jericho rub; he beat Rock/Austin in one night...and picked up considerable heat as a result. Jericho had more heat than Miz has had at any point, but I'm seeing more people get into the Miz lately. In the ratings breakdowns, Miz finally gained viewers in more than one segment lately.

I think a three-way angle like that can be booked where Miz comes out looking stronger, but Rock/Cena doesn't lose a thing. If they're smart, they'll go for it. It's on their laps now, and the feud doesn't need the belt to be strong. But they can't risk turning Miz into Sheamus, or Jack Swagger; Miz has worked his ass off as a face of the company, taking a page from Cena's book. I don't see the WWE letting him go by the wayside now.

Of course, but who could blame them? Cena hasn't lost clean in years, and Rock is Rock. This is the fault of the WWE, and has been for a long time.

Tonight, for better or worse, was the proper booking, in my mind. It does bury Miz, but I think they recognize they can quickly regain that heat. Where it goes from here, though, will dictate the next year of the company.

I'd give Miz the rub from Rock, and just have him tear through the title for the next year. If Cena doesn't face UT next year, he could always beat Miz this winter or next spring for the strap. Miz dropping the title to someone like Orton would be atrociously bad.

Great WM overall. The one problem i have with it is the Rock. The way he buried Miz after his win was just bullshit. If Miz was going to win he should have gotten over and The Rock took that from him. And for what?? So we can contiue to hear Rocks gimmick lines over and over again??

Im not a huge HHH fan but he finally learned how to not only wreslte but also have that storytelling that HBK was so great with. That final moment when Taker got up right before HHH did the Tombstone on him and that shot over to Taker....watch it again he has the same look and stance that Flair did right before HBK ended his career and when Taker kicked out...that was storytelling

4.0. A lot of people tune in to find out what happened and plus you have the HOF and TE ushering it in and out.

Dude, getting beat up by The Rock after you retain your title at a PPV is clearly equivalent to the likes of Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, Ric Flair, Mick Foley, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, RVD, Bubba Ray Dudley, and Jeff Jarrett all being pushed over you. Get with it.

It is....unless Rock actually sticks around and puts Miz over later. Otherwise who gives a shit

This is my segment by segment, match by match review

Rock's opening promo 5/5

Wrestlemania 27 Opening Video/Pyro 5/5

Alberto Del Rio vs Edge 4/5
Although it was a quick match (for a title) it was an awesome opener and set the tone. The post match dismantling of the car was awesome too. Really drove home the Anti-Hero angle that Edge likes to portray.

Rey Mysterio vs Cody Rhodes 4.3/5
I was Rhodes ignorant before this match, and I must say I am not now. He has quite the ability. Rey really stepped up his game too.

Snoop Segment 1/5
God awful in everyway. Only positive was Rowdy Roddy Piper.

8 man Tag 2/5
Completely buried the Corre, who have the Tag Titles and the Intercontinental Title, really dumb in my opinion

Rock/Eve/Mae/Austin segment 4/5
The Austin/Rock staredown was pretty awesome.

Orton vs CM Punk 4.4/5
Not nearly as good as HHH/Taker but better than Rhodes/Rey.

Mean Gene/Rock/PeeWee Herman Segment 3/5
Mildly entertaining. Nothing more nothing less.

Hall Of Fame Inductees 5/5
Awesome to see all these guys minus Drew Carey.

King vs Cole 3/5
A lot better than what I was expecting, but it went about 5 minutes too long.

Triple H vs The Undertaker 5/5
This match absolutely destroyed every pre-conceived idea I had going into it. It was one of the best matches of HHH’s career and certainly top 10 for Undertaker. The buildup for the match was rushed and not good, but they delivered just like they did at X-Seven. HHH proved that he is one of the best ring generals of the last 20 years. He carried the match to a MOTY candidate. I may buy the WM 27 DVD just for this match. IMO this match should have been the Main Event. Undertaker did the best sell job of his career.

Taker’s best WM Matches
1. HBK 1
2. HHH 2
3. HBK 2
4. HHH 1

6 person mixed tag match 2/5
It did its job to give the crowd a chance to unwind after the HHH/Taker match

Cena vs The Miz 3/5
This match had the ability to be really really good, but it just fell flat. Ref should have gotten knocked out, then rock runs out and delivers a Rock Bottom to cena, then wakes up the ref and tell him to count. But instead they did a really lame count out. After the HHH/Taker match the count-out after the bump to the outside came off weak.

Overall I give it a 3.7/5
If the main event would have been better I would have given it a 4 but it lacked so I knocked off the .3

opening promo - 2/10 = Rather pointless. Danielson/Sheamus could've excited the crowd more than this segment did.
video/pyro - 5/10 = Whatever, it's just pyro.
ADR/Edge - 8/10 = Very good match, okay post-match. Didn't like the outcome, but I guess it means the feud continues. So not too bad. Brodus Clay is an abortion.
Mysterio/Rhodes - 8.5/10 = MOTN aside from H/UT. Rhodes was fantastic and carried a great match.
Snoop Dogg segment - 1/10 = 100% waste of time. 0 entertainment provided also.
8-Man Tag - 1/10 = Atrocity. Complete bust.
Rock segment 2 - 5/10 = Probably better than a 5 actually. Rock didn't over-act, which was great. Mae was classic and fitting, Eve was okay, Austin was vintage. Good spot.
Orton/Punk - 7.5/10 = Very good, could've been better if they didn't cut parts for time constraints. Orton bores me, and Punk should've gotten the rub, but the match was good.
Rock segment 3 - 0/10 = Complete bust. Waste of time. 0 entertainment provided.
HOF segment 3/10 = Whatever, it's the HOF. Nothing more or less.
King/Cole - 6/10 = Better than ever imaginable. Went on too long, but wasn't THAT bad.
H/Undertaker - 9/10 = H had one of the best matches of his career. Seriously.
6-Person Tag - 6/10 = Better than imagined, but short, and a dumb celeb spot. Oh, and dumb usage of both Morrison and Ziggler. Whatever.
Cena/Miz - 7/10 = Miz carried Cena. Cena still can't have a good WM match, minus the one w/ HBK. Cena also looked real out of it. Countout was dumb, but they were trying something different than the typical ref spot. Miz retained, that's all that matters. Also got a Rock Bottom and People's Elbow out of it. I'm happy across the board.

Overall, probably 7/10, at least from a matches-only standpoint. H/UT was WM-caliber, couple great matches, a few good matches, and just one true bomb. Best WM since WM19, no question. Very good PPV in general too.

John Cena will be the face of the company regardless. A win, loss, countout, DQ, whatever. Come tomorrow, when his music hits, the children and women will still be cheering for him.

Miz kept his title. From what I hear he put up a hell of a match against Cena, and even kicked out of the AA, which is quite the rare feat. Regardless of what happened after the match, he was put over quite well considering he's still champ.

The Rock returned was partly nostalgic, but also to satisfy some of the older crowd who actually know who is/was. Having him do anything but come out on top at the show he guest hosted would have been wrong.

And besides, Rock and Cena will both be there tonight, so now maybe we get to see a Cena/Rock storyline.

This times 1,000,000. I don't get why people don't understand this. Cena is at the point where he can't be buried, and Miz became the second heel in WWE history to win a final championship match at Mania.

I don't think he looks weaker at all. He got beat up by a WWE legend after retaining the title against WWE's biggest star. How does this "bury" him?

I can't remember a single offensive move he got in on Cena. Miz can't beat anyone on his own, at all. The fact that he needed Rock to help him win makes him look worse.

Well he fought Cena to a draw. Better than most heel's fate at 'Mania. Other than Haitch in 2000 (who got buried by the Rock after the match), every other heel lost. He had a bunch of offensive moves on Cena.

Miz, IMO, comes out 1,000,000X stronger than he was.

No, Cena beat him into a draw. There's a huge difference. Cena fought, Miz got a red-ass beat down.

Now, I'll say again that I didn't see the match, but seeing how Miz's persona is, it'd be great for him to come out tonight and talk about how he defied all odds, Cena and The Rock couldn't beat him, and he's better than them both etc. etc.

And let's be honest, John Cena is not the guy you want to go against for a 5 star match lol

I guess the ADR/Edge match would be right behind that.

I think it was pretty clear he was going to kick Cena's ass and Miz's ass regardless.
