American Baby time signature

I know the whole song is pretty much 4/4, but once we get into the jam at the 3:50 mark I swear they change to a different time signature. If you continue counting in 4/4 through the jam, it eventually gets off. I'm having a tough time figuring it out :violent . I'm thinking maybe they throw in a 5/8 or 7/8. Maybe I'm wrong, but if anyone can help me out, let me know. Thanks

it actually does stay in 4/4. carter plays against it so well you get lost counting. you get lost around 4:02 if you dont concentrate. count with the bass line, and youll end up back on track at the end.
