it seems that whatever strings I put on my guuitar they all turn my fingers black with the grease (I think thats what it is) I have used other guitars with similar strings but they dont seem to do this only mine...This stuff is unlimited...what do I do to get rid of it...i have tried to wipe it off with a towel for a while but the grease (?) seems to keep coming back...what is going on!

that's weird. Maybe you have a dirty fretboard. I recommend cleaning it. They sell cleaners for guitars. I myself use lemon oil which some ppl disagree with becuase of it's power. Either way, it'll cost you a couple of bucks tops. :thumbsup

that was happening to me too, well the black part. the first guy was right ... all i had to do was take off my strings, get some cleaner and totally clean your fret board, and while your at it, clean the whole guitar cause you want it clean anyways jsut in case. also, get NEW good strings that will last awhile and not turn black right away from use right away ( alot of cheap strings get black very fast).

you also want to make sure that your hands are somewhat clean everytime you play. if you continuously play with dirty hands and fingers, that grime will build up and make everything gross/greasy ... whatever. good luck :thumbsup

Actually, wash your hands before you play. It sounds like your fingers are rather acidic, which can often transfer the metal to your fingertips. If you wash up well beforehand, you can cut down on the acids.

Also, Martin strings are complete pieces of shit. You may need a coated string.

its definitley not my hands, I just rub a towel on it and its just a whole black line when I slide it

even if your hands feel dry/clean they're not. there's a lot of buildup on them throughout the day
