A critique: There's a strange background noise going on. In the beginning verse there are some timing issues between guitar and vocals. The guitar sounds good, but maybe you could play with more percussion and dynamics. I think the guitar would sound better if you turned up the bass end and really let those low notes ring. The vocals are also good, but like you mentioned, they're not "crying freedom." This song could use a little more zing in the vocals.

Overall, it's well done. Get rid of the background noise and it'll be much better.

dan had some problem with the static. he couldnt get rid of it, wish he could. as for bass, my pickup has high feedback so i got a feedback buster in there, kills most of my deep bass
