I think it is kind of lame that the next clip is the Intro, but I really like this. It really sounds like machine guns in the beginning. :thumbsup

turn the volume up ... its best loud like the man said

dreamgirl is a turd, and im not a big american baby fan, but every clip since has me really positive about this album ...

also, i saved links to the other clips and they all still work excepts old dirt hill ... anyone have a link to that clip that works?

good stuff...nice drum work by Carter, nice filtered violin, nice keys-- I would see it more as an outro, but...I guess it'd transition smoothly into AB

JonahB41
04-25-2005, 05:47 PM
awesome. can people see how this album is starting to piece together? its so composite, the first few seconds come right out of the vibe of stand up and american baby is going to be so much better with this leading into it. you start out with a nice, warm and mellow dreamgirl into the smooth, cool summer day old dirt hill, then stand up perfectly into this into ab. and we know that wake up goes into out of my hands. im even more excited now.

My guess is this will be played mostly as a live into to American Baby, but they can be flexible with it like PNP and play it into some other stuff :thumbsup

I love it.

AB has the potential to be pretty epic live. The intro -> AB -> jam.

Hey all, this is one tight clip. Definitely stoked about this one! Question could this be the Carter,Mark jam we heard in one of the early clips, maybe a little more evolved with Boyd, Dave etc. adding elements?

this would turn american baby into a monster live...o god hope they can play this live... and yeh thats a violin in the background

i also think this clip is the first taste of the jamming on the album, like that stand up jam is sick..die trying has a sick jam....the recurrign theme on this albukm will be songs that arn't as lyrically involved and that will end in jams

Honestly, I've only been kind of half sold on the preview songs thus far, because they were pretty chilled out songs but they lacked the kind of raw energy DMB used to have. That said, I challenge you to find me a 40 second clip from BTCS that matches the intensity of what we just heard. I'm not saying the album as a whole will necessarily be a landmark, but to tell you the truth I think that was 40 seconds of better sound than I've ever heard DMB put out on a studio album.

My face has been literally rocked off.

The clip sounds like the begining of the track. If the bombs are just the noise in the begining and then fade out into that jam, it's really, really well done. They had a lot of room to make this cheesy and stupid, but it sounds REALLY cool so far. Can't wait to hear this one :thumbsup .

This was done so perfectly by the Warehouse....look back at discussions about this album and the other clips even from just this morning....there were so many people bashing it...now they've released INTRO and people are pumped up again....i think it was very wisely chosen for the next clip...and i have to agree with Jimendus..saying it will put some people at ease..cuz it will...i was gettin a little nervous listenin to sum of the other clips...smooth rider specifically...cool funk and all, just not what i was expecting..and this INTRO is practically the same length as that, so i know this one will get me goin again! also, INTRO live, this summer, is gonna be jammed out like crazy, and hearing this segue into AB is gonna be fantastic... do ya think Dave is gonna sit at the keys for this live???

Honestly, I've only been kind of half sold on the preview songs thus far, because they were pretty chilled out songs but they lacked the kind of raw energy DMB used to have. That said, I challenge you to find me a 40 second clip from BTCS that matches the intensity of what we just heard. I'm not saying the album as a whole will necessarily be a landmark, but to tell you the truth I think that was 40 seconds of better sound than I've ever heard DMB put out on a studio album.

My face has been literally rocked off.

First, yes this is clip is sooo promising. I've been listening for two hours now. A little while back, before the tracklisting was officially released, many song titles were thrown around (including Trouble With You and What She Said). Trouble With You, we all know, is on the B-SIDE of Stand Up...but listening to this Intro clip over and over again, I keep thinking he's saying "What she said...a hundred times. She said...a thousand times." Anyone else think this is how the probable title popped up? It's 2 minutes...maybe there was a What She Said, longer than 2 minutes..cut to this...anyone? anything?

I still don't think so. Those parts are all great pieces of music, but a 40-50 second clip from the end of Spoon wouldn't impress me as much as this without the context of the song as a whole. Spoon is a masterpiece lyrically and musically, but I don't think that end music would really grab me as much without the buildup. I love Last Stop as well, and maybe the first 40-50 seconds of the Last Stop would do it, but then again Carter isn't going nearly as nuts during that time. As a whole, the song is amazing, but I don't think any 40-50 seconds of it beat the energy of this clip, and at best they equal it. Proudest Monkey I have to flatly disagree with, it's a nice song but extraordinarily simple musically. I will admit the end of Rapunzel and the beginning of the Last Stop might equal this clip, but guys, that's DAMN good. We're talking about the best musical segments off of the band's crowning album.
