Do you think the reception would be so warm? ..... I think so, but maybe not quite as warm as it is now.

I dont exactly consider this a "warm" reception

I haven't given it any "reception" It still hasn't arrived yet.

agreed, it hasn't been such a "warm" reception, i think that the reception would be "warmer" if there was no Everday actually.

I think it would have been lukewarm at least, but then when Everyday came out later it would have gotten flamed.

Well, back when the original six clips were hacked/got out, whatever, I read a lot of people saying they really didnt like them. Though I do agree with road designer in that there really hasnt been a reception yet.

i think that if there was no everyday, we would not be quite as afraid of a pop-sounding album. however, even though this one is sure to have a bit of pop-influence, i think we will be warmer to it than everyday just because in comparison, it will not be quite as pop.
hope that makes sense

the damn thing isn't even out yet and you all are discussing the reception!!! WHAT RECEPTION?!?!

I think just based on the clips I've heard so far, I like the general feel of it much better than Everyday. Even the lyrics alone from the clips are better than most Everyday lyrics. Can't wait to hear the whole thing though!

it's not a warm reception so far, but i'm in love with everything i've heard, and i really didnt like everyday. i think i was more excited for everyday cuz it was the first album released since i had started listening to dmb, and i thought it was gonna be like btcs, only somehow better. i didnt hate everyday at first, but it's definitely not that good.
that being said, i felt everyday was a letdown. i had gotten all excited, teased with tLWS, and then it wasnt good even on its own merits. for this album, i was not expecting much after BS and ED, but i was again teased with the summer songs. but then i was let down with the summer songs not being there, a "rap producer" and all that, so i was really not expecting much. then the clips started coming out, and i'm thinking this is what everyday should've been. there's definitely some BTCS elements, but in a whole new direction (and one that is cool, not crappy).
i'm not sure if i answered your question

OK going to say what i think they did with this album. i think that the Dave Matthews Band were trying out new things and maybe they are not getting the reception that they want but i think they are out there trying new things and i thinnk it is a good thing, i am liking what i hear so far on the clips and american baby.

i'll show you mine if you show...nevermind
i've got nothing but warmth for this, and the same for my 2 most obsessed dmb fan friends

I think people are more skeptical now. Had there been no Everyday, some ants wouldn't be looking for reasons not to like it.

i think everyday has just braced us for this change of sound.
in any comparison ive read from someone who has the album, its always 'well, at least its better than everyday.'

Listen up, this is the way it happened:
Everyday was for Dave (pre Some Devil, remember that)
Busted Stuff was for the fans
Stand Up is for the band.
That simple.

if you dont like the album when it comes out, just know it WAS good for the band... thats at least one optimistic that that is almost guaranteed to come out of this album.
on a side note, i think in a couple years this album will be a lot of fans favorite DMB album

i can't imagine that, considering i haven't heard one of them, and creative process tends to be cumulative instead of singular.

I'm reserving judgement until i actually hear the album. let's put reception this way: when i first heard AB and the clips that leakes, i was not impressed; with these new clips (AB Intro and following), i have gone ahead and ordered the album.

In general, we haven't heard the album yet--no reception yet in my humble opinion. We as ants, aren't even at the wedding yet. I think we met the other family and are on the way the chapel. May 10th we tie the knot.

After I actually gave Everyday a chance...I think its actually pretty good album...yeah its more rockish, big deal. Theres still some great songs on there, Fool to Think, So right, and dare i say it..The Space Between, (yes, I do like it)
I'm thinking Stand Up is gonna be a lot different though, simply because the whole band was involved with the album making process, and I can't wait for it, some stuff I have heard sounds amazing and some stuff may have to grow on me but its still DMB

the album is out fully now.... ummm... i dont think everyday has a bearing at all on the reception of Stand Up... but the thing that does is time... the longer between two rockin albums... the more sweet it will be.. yes, everyday happened to fall in between but that is a irrelevant detail. it was just too long since BTCS!

that would be really weird actually.. and that aint the herb talking... how often do bands move from the pop-rocky sound of Everyday to the unique sound of RTT??? that would be weird to see a band develop like that...

if the songs were allowed to spread out this would have been a five star album....:freak
