for anyone who is not listening.. it's really really good.. stand up is jamming might die trying jamming.. smooth rider is short but sweet.. nice lyrics.. it's all been great.. very creative and layered.. leroi is definitely present on several tracks.. i think everyone should be very happy on may 10.. cause I am.. it's really good so far and it's in shitty quality
ethaxton
05-03-2005, 01:13 PM
So I think IMO AB intro clip > whole thing, and sounds like its something that may not get played live

It doesn't work for Mac's, I looked and they said that it is not available for mac's. Just another reason why I hate these crappy mac's, I'm sitting at school, pretending to teach, wanting to listen to these clips and I can't. F-ing mac's

For the AB intro, most of it is what we heard in the clip. Before the clip part of the song, it's just mostly bombs dropping, and the music fades just like in the clip, and then Boyd has a little violin part that leads into AB.

Well the clips do not do these songs justice ... and this certainly isn't Everyday -- it's what Everyday should have been if Ballard didn't stifle the band.

Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
Don't let the headless CGI dancer on the cover fool you. While Stand Up has a more organic feel than 2001's radio-ready Everday, it is hardly an invocation for carefree days spent twirling on the grass. Instead it is a call to arms that carries over much of the insurrectionary spirit the Dave Matthews Band brought to 2004's Vote For Change Tour. Matthews, sounding rawer than ever, swerves between optimism ("To change the world you only start with one step," he sings on "You Might Die Trying") and angst ("See the man with the bomb in his hand/Everybody wake up," goes "Everybody Wake Up [Our Finest Hour Arrives]"), while producer Mark Baston, best known for his small-time work with big-name pop acts like Beyonce and 50 cent, responds by putting the marching band rhythms of Carter Beauford in the front and galvanizing the music with a crisp R&B edge, most evident in the totally--okay, partially--crunk "Stolen Away On 55th & 3rd." --Aidin Vaziri

Not a big fan of the hip hop feel to some of the tracks, nor the extensive use of percussion machines that are not Carter's extremeties and a drum kit.

My album review.. overall great music with great energy.. the only thing that hurts many of the tracks is the repetitive nature of the tracks.. as for the highlights dreamgirl was a big surprise after teh back to the ocean lyric.. stand up is really grooving as dave said on teh interview.. hunger is pretty damn good with dirty lyrics like "spread your legs I want to make you go" or something like that.. the weakest tracks are AB and ODH.. it seems as though it has a great flow to it.. wish old dirt hill could have gotten switched earlier in the track listings.. oh well. hello again is great and you might die trying and out of my hands offer some excellent dave... My conclusions about the chaos on teh boards concerning this album.. 1.) the reviewers are way too hard on these guys 2.) this is not everday..
Before I get back to my finals prep I thought I would rank my favorite albums after this little leak...
