When a song forces me to jump up and down at a show, it's amazing. Bayou is one of the greats that does it.

When they played this one at Bonnaroo Dave put on this cute little hat and I think he even had a cane or something as a prop, and TOTALLY got into it. He was strutting around the stage, and giving that coy look to the audience, I about died. Then he did that eyebrow thing, oh wait, wrong thread. Seriously though, Bayou ROCKS live.:hump (sorry, I really love the humpy-guy)

I'll say that when I first heard Louisiana Bayou after buying Stand Up, that I wasn't crazy about it. But after I heard it live at the DMB show I went to this summer.. I'm in love with it now! :thumbsup

This is about the only song that just might break my All Time DMB Top Ten out of the Songs from Stand Up.

Thought I would add this here instead of starting a new thread. I was watching the Chicago/New Orleans game and just now when they went to commercial the station played Bayou. How cool is that? :thumbsup

Louisiana Bayou is overrated. I don't see what people like about this song. What I hear is boring, formulaic, music and the jam really isn't all that great.

I can't believe this thread has had 3300 hits, but only 27 replies!

My Contribution:

Bayous is one of my favorites off the album, and probably my second favorite live. It is just so full of energy and power--and even more so with Robert Randolph. My favorite part on the album is the funky acoustic beginning, then the electric overdub. So in conclusion: LONG LOVE THE BAYOU!!

Well if you're being serious and not just antagonistic then I'll answer. I like the song for alot of reasons. Its sound is out of the norm of most DMB songs, and certainly most songs from anyone else. When it plays, I simply cannot sit/stand still no matter where I am. After seeing it live, I love how into the song the guys get. It's one of those contageous things. They start rocking back and forth and you find yourself doing the same thing. It's just a fun song for me. I like the way Dave sings parts of it and his little noises he makes in it, just like in many other songs. Sometimes you just like a song because you like it. Most of my favorite Dave/DMB songs are slower songs like Some Devil, Typical, Seek Up..... and although they all jam in their own way (some even better in some ways) none of them inspire me to dance in the middle of my living room like a fool. Bayou does that. How could I not love it?
