I'm very curious to see how a basic Yes or No poll about the album goes . . . "Yes, I like it" vs. "No, I don't like it"

I personally only like a few of the songs on there. It's tough when the band is leaning towards a different style or just a different producer because I have become quite fond of the UTTAD DMB. I'm not saying I don't like it either, this new direction is a good one, I just can't wait to hear these songs when its just the guys rockin' it.

definitely very different, in a good way, IMO. as has been said before, these songs have much room to grow live, which i'm sure they will, and i think for most of us (myself included), we just need a little time to let them grow on us.
i like it. :thumbsup

Prior to the VH1 full release of the songs, I would have, without any uncertainty, voted "no."

You know...I litstened to the album 3 times...the first two I hated it...This 3rd time I realized that I started listeing to DMB becasue they were different...I thought when I first listened to this that they sounded like just another band....But when I hit the 3rd time...This is very fresh....I have to say its growing on me...They should be fun songs live..

I like the new songs but what I know what matters to me is how they are played live.
Call it a copout all you like but for a guy like me who literally listens to 90-95% live DMB, this really matters. Even Everyday material like What You Are and Everyday are songs I can't bear to listen to studio, but I love them live :thumbsup By contrast, look at a song like Mother Father, bad on both ends :thumbsdow
Hopefully we get soundboard stuff soon.
So for right now, I vote "yes", but that "yes" is relatively tentative based on how they are performed live.

but why only dmb? i admit, they do have a lot of material to listen to, and their first 8-9 years were incredibly consistent and lovely, but there are other bands as well. doesn't mean you have to listen to less dmb, but you won't hinge on every performance or release so much.

I mean that when I listen to DMB, 95% of the time it's live material.

ah. :) my mistake. i've heard a lot of people here say they only listen to dmb for extended periods of time. that was pretty much me for a few months of my life -- way too much.

There are two types of people on this board right now that I am trying to steer away from:
You have the Yes people who think everyone who doesn't like the album are "stuck in the past", "narrow-minded", "have no sense of taste," or all of the above.
You also have the No people who think everyone who likes the album are "blind followers", "obsessed fans who woul like anything," "have no sense of taste," or all of the above.
I am personally a Yes person who wishes it were possible to go onto an online message chat with both yes and no people about the album. Unfortunately, the majority of "No" people fit into the above category and are going out of their way flood this forum with nonsense and bashing. If that is your intention allow me to direct you here: http://www.ufck.com
They enjoy that kind of childish venting.

yeah....we get a new DMB album every 3 years...we see the live every summer and sometimes in the winter....so we can listen to this album for 5 mins, but what it comes down to is that we need to hear these songs for 3 years....and if they are terrible live..it will be a very long 3 years..

not my convo but : personally i think its good to not fall into the trap of listening to DMB all the time... i try to space it so as long as i live there will always be shows out there that i haven't heard....i try to listen to one new show per month....

That cuz there's only two poll options.
Poll should be:
I love the album
I like the album
I'm ambivalent
I expected better
I hate the album
and
Still undecided.

No actually i think its perfect this way.....because unless you are over analyzing your own opinion, you should know Yes or No. Yes there is a lot more too it, but you should be at Yes or No (or undecided, which by the nature of it, will go one way or another, and then u can vote when ur ready).

it's good to know that most people like this album . . . such new style and different ideas, yet most of us embrace it and appreciate it. I like that
