so if dave plays piano during this track how do you think they will play it live? will he use butchs key's or will they bring out a piano for him or will he just do vocals and butch play keys.
they might also not play this song to much live but iw as just thinking about it and wondered what you guys thought

I'd prefer to hear Dave play it on a baby grand...

Cool, I was just thinking about this while listening to it. Would be nice to have a baby grand out there but I don't see it happening, hehe

I thought about that before...I think it would be amazing to have them bring a piano on the road. And I REALLY want to see Dave play.
But for some reason I feel like they either won't play the song much...or Butch will take over the keys and Dave will just sing. Or who knows. I feel like we have so much to wonder about and look forward to on this tour.

if this is played live, pretty sure dave will have his own keys.

By the way... who was it in DMB's team that decided that Digging A Ditch is a real crowd pleaser but The Dreaming Tree is too boring for a live setting?

I think this song will definetly be played live and here's how: Dave will probaby have his own keys and I see it all tour being the first song in an encore. A lot of times we see dave do something solo first song in an encore, this is no different. I see dave busting out "out of my hands" and then the band finishes with ants/two step or whatever

even though the bass work is awesome in the dreaming tree.

I think Stefan should start incessantly playing the riff to Halloween on stage until the band is forced to join in or the show will be stopped...
They can play it instrumentally if Dave doesn't want to sing it.

I agree that the song won't be played much live, but if they do i think butch will take over the piano part and Dave might even had some acoustic chords over it.

Hey...
I don't think Dave is playing piano in Out of My Hands..
He's playing in Steady As We Go....
That's what I have gathered...
P.S. Kick ass job on the album guys!

Ya know, not every song on the album is going to be played live. Or all that often. Some songs just don't simply translate well live and so they don't play them. We are all assuming they will play this live, but really, theres a chance it will be played like, 3 times, or not at all.

I really really like this song, but my guess would be 1. it wont be played much live, and 2. if it is, dave will play guitar and will get the keys from butch. Though I really hope i'm wrong cause it would be really cool to see dave play a piano.

Remember American Tune from D&F. Ray played keys and Dave sang. Given that's obviously not an original, but it shows Dave would be ok with just standing there singing without playing.
On a similar note, I get the emotional feeling from Out of My Hands as I do from American Tune.

yeah if they played it at all i think it would be right after the encore and dave would be on piano. it would be sooooo weird to see dave sitting at a piano.
like the guy from coldplay but i dont like coldplay lol

Just wanted to say I'm in the midst of listening to the album on vh1 and on this song right now, and it's the only one I've liked yet (other than AB and Hello Again which I know I like)
:shrug At least they didn't completely strike out with me
I should add I'm the type of fan who likes everything the band does, including Everyday. So... maybe this album will grow on me, we'll see

ive got two guesses that i see as more realistic. ill dream about him playing his own piano like thom yorke or something or this crazy segue from ewu.
but im betting either he'll come out and strum on the guitar (maybe with carter or even fonzie) for encore 1, or it will just never be played like dreams of our fathers
also, i dunno how well it'll translate live in terms of not killing the energy. i mean i'd sit there with rapt attention if dave let out a long fart, but you all know how the crowds are
