I know, I know, it's early, but I was just thinking about this...

Most of the songs on this record seem to have a common vibe...not necessarily a common feel as far as sound or structure or anything, but they're similar in a stylistic sense, in my opinion. They all go well together on this album.

And then I was thinking -- Hey! They're calling this "Act One: Stand Up." Which got me thinking about what Act Two will entail. I know we're getting the b-side versions of Joyride and Trouble with You, but I feel like Act Two might be the album to finally bring the boys back to complete and utter greatness.

Don't get me wrong, I really dig Stand Up (I was surprised myself -- I had a very negative feel about it from what I heard in the clips -- but hey, I'm glad to be wrong this time around). But with the material that we know of that didn't make the album like Sugar Will, Crazy Easy, Good Good Time, Butterfly (if that even progressed past what it was), and Joyride, I feel like whatever is on Act Two might be the stuff that BTCS was made of -- raw and emotional, yet produced in a way that's very accessible to DMB fans. Maybe I'm wrong, and maybe Act Two won't ever come out, but it seems odd that they recorded SO much material for a one disc album, and that they titled it Act One.

Thoughts are clearly welcome... :)

i thought they had dropped the Act One? Anyway, i think that either the next album or the album after that they will be going back to their roots. Most bands go through a phase of evolution and sort of mold breaking before they realize that they and their fanbase want them to go back to their roots. In the future i think they will make an album that is pretty stripped down production-wise and the songs will have the classic structure from the first three albums. And, oh yeah, Carter will remember how to drum like Carter.

I thought they weren't calling it that. I mean....they were (maaaybe). But they aren't anymore.

Sounds like Busted Stuff to me. God I hope not. I hope they keep progressing forward.

Agreed. Busted Stuff was...uninspired?

Stand Up is inspired, and i think they actually found a pretty good producer (maybe a little trigger happy at times).

I wonder how an album with previously unrecorded songs would turn out though. Like a cd full of hello agains.

Busted Stuff really didn't stand a chance because we expected so much from those songs already. But yeah I would say so... it was so sloooww and empty.

Yeah, there was deffinite pressure with those songs. But with this new album i dont constantly think "hey wheres tim, i wish they would bring him back into the studio" Its not empty at all, its a really good effort by the BAND

Yeah, Joy Ride, Good Good Times, Sugar Will, are all not on the album, they wouldnt seem to fit on this album...and they are the real DMB....If this album had a different producer it would have been much better i think. If they have all of this unrealsed material, maybe just maybe this means that they will get out of this rut and get back to where they were..

What I think they should do is write their own songs sans Batson, but still go into the studio with him. I really like what he did with Hello Again, and I think an album of that material would be solid.

Obviously, they like this method of writing, so they should be able to expand. This experiment wasn't perfect by far but is a step forward.

Batson needs to go to the studio with 50 cent and smoke more weed...cause in my opinion he ruined this album...I mean i dont hate it, but this extra shit is terrible..where is carter?

precisely. I'm imagining an album of songs that would fit with loving wings.

Batson nixed Joy Ride because of the slow yelling part. Carter could not keep playing the spare beats.

Good Good Time has no chants, so it did not stand a chance.

Sugar Will sounded too much like classic Dave Matthews guitar. Ya, the riff was too weird.

Crazy-Easy actually had a violin part--fuck that said Batson.
