I've been surfing the Stand Up forum for about 30 minutes now and I've seen many good and bad inputs. I've started to think about it, we as a community love this band so much to where our love is unconditional with the exception of a few people. I have seen a few posts about not losing faith, they will be better live. Although this may be true, this is somewhat wishful thinking. I feel very blinded to be honest, I want to give my opinion about this album but I feel I might regret it whether what I say is good or bad. I mean honestly think about it, if you had never heard DMB ever before and this album was your first impression what would you think? I really think our unconditional love is speaking louder than our true opinions of this specific album. Peace -Wes-

I think its like asking, "Do you love the album, or love the album because DMB wrote it?"

Pretty much...has this question been asked?

I think if I had never heard DMB before and I heard this album, this would just be another average cd.

It's hard to do man. You fall in love with DMB and it becomes hard to criticize. Kind of like when people have a shitty relationship with another person but can't admit that it sucks because they are in love with the person.

However, you gotta be real. On here, I think some people honestly love the album, others just aren't being realists.

If I didn't know anything about DMB and had never listened to them before, I would look at Stand Up as pop album that's doing a few interesting and musical things. Then I'd go back to listening to something else.

I really feel if you say you love the album, but in the back of your mind have doubts after listening to it, you may just not be being realist about it and letting your DMB love blind you.

Joepsu0985, I've been listening to Stand Up a lot these past few days but seeing "Celebrate We Will" under your handle I have to listen to "Two Step." I appreciate that...haha peace -Wes-

This is true...I am listening to Hello Again, I must say I do love this version but thats because I don't have a SB live version. Once I get that, things will change, lol peace -Wes-

It's definitely a pretty average collection of tunes. I enjoy it, but I would say it's a misstep just like Everyday was. Not that it sounds like Everyday, but they seem to be wandering down the wrong path again, by which I mean a path that just doesn't really suit them as a band. They were just as enthusiastic about Everyday at its release as they have been thus far about Stand Up. It'll be interesting to see how/if their stances on this album change as time goes on. I don't foresee another album with Batson, regardless. Whether they come to dislike this album or not, I think it's going to alienate enough fans that they'll probably try to get back to their roots.

I love DMB, I just don't really feel them on this one. Maybe I'll grow to love it, maybe not.

I like Hello Again too. I think it's the best song the album. Dave actually plays guitar on it, Carter actually plays drums on it, and the end is very jammable with everyone else. That and Louisiana Bayou are by far the best songs on the album, and the only ones I truly enjoy listening to.

There's me being a realist.

I think some people are reacting like that. I have to agree if this was my first album I wouldn't think it was the best thing ever, but I know better and knowing better lets me just accept something new and not feel like I have to stop being a fan over it if it's not my thing. 14 songs for now, they will be many more to come, MANY have already had their time.

People were so hyped up about this album that they were setting themselves up to be let down no matter what.

I listened to the entire album on VH1.com, and I liked it. Everybody keeps saying, "Oh, it' no BTCS. I don't like it." In my opinion, it shouldn't sound like the other albums. This is NEW MUSIC. You're not gonna get the same sound as on other albums, and you shouldn't. If every album sounded the same, we'd be some boring-ass fans listening to a boring-ass band.
I think that everybody here on ants, as fans, should support the new sound the band has going on. It's still DMB, just newer, and fresher. Sure, this CD is no BTCS, but it has it's own new sound and some really good jams on it. I guess what I'm tryin to say is, if you are true fan, stop hatin on the new music. Appreciate the fact that the band is growing and that they're still around to give us good tunes for good times. Enjoy the new album, everybody! I know I will!

I'm not exactly talking about the change in the band's style. Change in style is of course a good thing. I really am just questioning the quality of the music. Day in and day out people on here bash so many artists for their music. Is there really a substance to this music that we can go brag about to others and say DMB kicks ass because...As far as I'm concerned, those other artists' albums are just as good. I will admit, I was just listening to the album and got annoyed and had to turn it off. I'm going to be honest here and I guess break that boundary I set for myself earlier. But I will agree with the above in the fact they are giving us something new, always nice. Now go listen to Two Step because it is kicking ass right now...Peace -Wes-
