Come on, guys, I'm talking to you, UMB Bank Pavilion (http://www.antsmarching.org/tour/venue.php?venueid=591), Maryland Heights (http://www.antsmarching.org/tour/city.php?cityid=33), MO (http://www.antsmarching.org/tour/state.php?stateid=25) and you, Tweeter Center Chicago (http://www.antsmarching.org/tour/venue.php?venueid=589), Tinley Park (http://www.antsmarching.org/tour/city.php?cityid=68), IL (http://www.antsmarching.org/tour/state.php?stateid=13). It's unfortunate, but you guys are the blessed to be the first this summer to hear these nuggets of Batson shit live. Do it for the good of the DMB community and let the band know that we don't want to hear an hour of Stand Up this summer. These feelings can be communicated through nonviolent protest only. I'm okay with Hello Again, and maybe a few others will grow on me once I hear them live, but a first impression is still worth something. Where is Dave's guitar on this album? Where is everyone else? Maybe the band decided to go down in flames so that they could catapult Butch to solo success. Who knows. I don't necessarily mind dropping $15 on this album, but the hundreds I've spent on tickets already will hurt a little bit if I ever hear any of the following songs live: Stand Up, Smooth Rider, Old Dirt Hill (Please Don't Bring That Beat Back), Everybody Wake Up, etc. Let's just all hope this summer doesn't suck...

Wow. I would be pissed off if I went to a show this summer and I didn't hear the following:

Dream Girl, Stand Up, Smooth Rider, Hello Again, Everybody Wake Up, Out of MY Hands, Louisiana Bayou, Old Dirt Hill, You Might Die Trying, and Hunger for the Great Light.

It's more overwhelming disappointment I think . The album is fun, but honestly I feel like Justin Timberlake is going to pop up and start singing Dreamgirl on backup vocals. The 'pop' like tone of the album is not appealing to a lot of people, it's understandable. I currently am trying to not be negative, rather let the songs sit a while/

Seriously, I hope DMB doesn't play any of the new songs, but plays every Everyday song in each set all summer long. People will be begging for the new stuff then!

exactly the point no one really agrees with me on....this will only be the 3rd summer i go to dave shows...so i havent gotten the chance to hear much of the good older songs live

friends are always saying how sweet songs from StandUp are gonna sound live....but when you bought Folsom Field, did the songs from Everyday, besides Everyday/#36, sound that much different than they did on the album (i won't even go into the fact that Everyday songs reigned that tour)

should be some unwritten rules for these somewhat Risky new albums...

I was talking a beer for CD trade, with a ratio of approximately 3 beers to 1 CD. Acceptable beer includes: Budweiser, PBR, Milwaukee's Best, Labatts, Molson and Corona (but only because tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo).

The beer for ticket ratio is somwhere around 4 cases of beer per 1 reserved ticket. These are Warehouse tickets, people. Please...

P.S. I'll be listening to the songs, I just might not necessarily enjoy the crappy ones.

Actually, I rarely drink. And when I do, I don't overdo it. But I can certainly enjoy a fine lager or pilsner as much as the next guy.

By the way, didn't mean to sound so negative in my original post. Part of my disappointment with Stand Up stems from the fact that I loved Hello Again, Sugar Will, Joyride and Crazy-Easy last year, but only Hello Again was included on Stand Up. My 2 cents...

why is it a stupid thread? just b/c you don't agree with it? i'm not slamming the album, but it hasn't grown on my very fast. i'm sure some songs will be good live. only time will tell. let people have their opinion, it's obvious you've given yours.

Oh yeah...brilliant idea...lets hope the band doesn't play all the new material they just wrote and plays the same basic set lists that they've been playing for 3 years straight.

Yeah, good idea... I'd much rather hear Where Are You Going, Loving Wings, When the World Ends, Grace Is Gone, The Stone, Bartender, Rapunzel, Too Much, So Much To Say, I Did It, and The Space Between instead.....cause I haven't heard enough of them over the last 5 years of going to shows. (sarcasm) Some of those songs I've heard more than 20 times (out of 40 shows) in only 5 years.

And I'm sorry for those who just recently became a fan or just recently started going to shows....because i bet you wish you could see a show full of classic material. Well, I'm sorry to say you missed it. You have to accept that. It's been around for over a decade and changes regularly and this (stand up) is just the latest change. And its not DMB's job to keep playing the same sets over and over just in case a new fan pops up this year or next.

This may work out well, as the release of Stand Up might make it a little bit easier to get tickets...for the people who really want to be there.

beer vouchers? the arena that the band plays in doesnt directly make money from the actual band they are hosting. there's no way that you can tell a beer vendor or have a beer vendor/arena host something to have people trade in the band's items for vouchers for an alcoholic beverage.

I wonder why everyone has to make sure everyone knows their opinion. It's not like it really matters. You either like it or you don't, and posts like this only cause trouble and nothing else. I mean if you hate the songs so much just don't go to the concert. No ones making you listen to the cd's, and no ones making you go. sell your tickets to other people or give them away.

I just don't see the point of this thread. Half these threads are the same; everyone just making sure their opinion is on the front page. Did you really believe you would get a big response of people agreeing? And if you were just joking, well it's a pretty bad joke.

Yeah, because I was serious about wanting to trade in Stand Up for beer.

Yeah, I can understand maybe why someone doesn't like the songs (because of the different style). I haven't heard the cd yet, only the clips (which I've mostly liked); b/c I am waiting to hear the real thing. I hope the band hears all this complaining and decides to give the old style a whirl the next time they make an album... at least on a few songs and make new style ones because I love some of the new style stuff. That would rock. They can do it with ANY producer. I don't think Baston is going to keep them from doing whatever style they want.

But the fact that you don't give it time is what's getting everyone on edge. And that you want to trade a cd that you could listen to for hours on end for something that ain't worth a dime to me. a.k.a. beer. However even though I entirely disagree with you, I don't mind you speaking your thoughts b/c it gives me something to possibly look forward to. (seeing the band make songs for the hardcore fans)

I was inspired to make this dumb poll after listening to Stand Up at VH1.com and realizing how much I don't like it and how it doesn't sound anything like the DMB I love. I still love DMB, just not Stand Up.

Do you listen to all your DMB through your computer speakers? Invest in a Sony Walkman dude - they're rad.

Dude, your post stinks of typical frat-boy mentality. I'm sure no one in the DMB organization cares about your $15. If you've been to any DMB concerts in your life than you got your money's worth plus some. I guess your one of the greedy people that Dave is talking about in the new album. DMB is worried about people dying in a war and your worried about a case of beer.

you guys seem to forget one big thing. DMB is a Live Jam Band!! the shows are the band and as much as of course we were all hoping for a BTCS agian. or a cd with all the evolved verison of these songs i thing these CD as tons of live potentional. just look at what American Baby has become in the last month. Everybody wake up seems to have a perfect tempo and style for a huge jam at the end. will this cd have an dreams of our fathers that wouldnt play much live. of course! but im sure that the boys will make this cd a great success just like all the other cd they have made (even everyday!). i mean, come on, it is the DAVE MATTHEWS BAND.

It doesn't make sense, that's why it's funny to any mildly intelligent human being. Someone please explain what humor is.

Yes, I've always gotten my money's worth and I really do hope that trend continues. I just don't want to hear any techno drum beats, that's all. If I wanted techno drum beats I would go to an Ace of Base concert or maybe C&C Music Factory.

Can't wait to hear from the techno fans that Ace of Base and C&C aren't techno. Bring on the flames! It's a joke!

And I was never in a frat.

People on these boards have a strange way of taking anything written as being 100% sincere. Aren't there any other sarcastic people around here?

I totally agree . . . . except I am in a fraternity . . . . but I promise you I am not one of the guys like this guy.

Honestly I think the jokes on us here guys, he got us all to read and reply to his crap-tacular thread, So kudos to you . . . . . . . . ps (direct to the guy who started this thread) you aren't going to any shows out on the west coast are you? Cause I REALLY REALLY hate it when people hold full on conversations next to me while I'm trying to listen to the great music being played by such a great band . . .

Come to think of it, I probabley would be cool if all they played was SU, I mean, hell I get to see my favorite band play music? FUCK YEAH!!! At I'm seeing DMB play at all. :D

Wow. I would be pissed off if I went to a show this summer and I didn't hear the following:

Dream Girl, Stand Up, Smooth Rider, Hello Again, Everybody Wake Up, Out of MY Hands, Louisiana Bayou, Old Dirt Hill, You Might Die Trying, and Hunger for the Great Light.

ditto

because your like the 10,000 person to make a stupid thread complaining about the new songs....If you hate them so much go to like a radiohead board and complain...they would probably agree with you.

edit: this is a dmb community...i don't want to sound like a asshole...but all the dmb boards have been so negative lately.

That is because there are a lot of disapointed people that were expecting something different from the band. In my opinion, this is the absolute worse album they have put out. There is not one songs I like on it. I love HELLO AGAIN, but the way it cuts in the end is aweful.
If you like, then that is fine, but understand that there are people that don't like it and they have all the right to post on here why they don't.

And leave this poor dude alone. He was making a joke (I think it is actually a good idea), but the people on this board seriously need to lighten the hell up. It is not that big of a deal to make a new thread.

Its threads like this the make me wish they had started two seperate forums for stand up. One with positive comments for all the people that like it, and one for negative comments for people who think it suck. That way people who like the album don't have to deal with people who don't, and vice versa.
