:thumbsup Agreed.
For better or worse (I believe it to be worse), there aren't nearly enough HRs out there. Today's culture doesn't really nurture/foster those kinds of personalities anymore. It is increasingly easy to cast the concept of love to the wind. This is especially true for the younger crowds. I believe that as people age and mature, they realize that love is possible and, more importantly, necessary because hey - all you need is love. Right? ;)

Seems that society pegs the Alpha Male as what teenage guys should be these days and there's not much for a HR in the profile. I also think that it is much easier to understand the perspective of a HR once you've experienced love, and how truly great it can be.

I was always the kind of person to never pursue anything romantically before I fell in love for the first time. Now that I've lost it, its a feeling that I've been longing for, but still think its best to let things like that fall into place rather than pursue it.

It feels like a lifetime away. When you're in love, your whole person changes. It's a very powerful, controlling emotion. Perhaps that's why I listen to DMB so much. DMB makes me feel love on a large, global scale. Even though it's not the love between a couple, it's still love, and it's tiding me over until I'm ready to fall head over heels again.

It's funny because it wasn't so long ago that I thought that I was experiencing something that I certainly thought could have grown into an everlasting love. It seems like it was years ago, but it was only back in April. But then again, it is almost August. That is at least a little bit of time.
So I am not sure if I am still over Jessica anymore. The other night when we went to Coleman's I was desperately hoping that she was there and that she would see me there. I knew I was looking really good and I wanted her to see just what it was that she had given up on. God I am pathetic sometimes. And then I go and lie to my roomate and say that I wasn't still thinking about Jessica when I mentioned that she would probable be at Coleman's.

God, I really don't know if I could give you guys a solid number of times I've done that - get all dressed up, look sharp, then go to where I think my ex is going to be hoping that she'll see me and get uber-jealous. I think it's natural. I know when I can't have something that I want - badly - but can't have, I will go out of my way to get something else and pretend like I don't even care. And the fucked up thing is, I don't know why I do this. I should just tell my buddies that "Yeah, I really like this girl. I could easily fall in love with her," but I don't for fear of instant reprisal.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm still down for the whole HR community thing we were discusing about a million posts ago. That was an awesome idea; although, it may not be entirely practical :shrug (I've been doing lots of "shrugs" lately, and I don't know why)

Yeah he did need a ticket. Right now, both me, Jay & Suz have tickets to all three night, but their son doesn't. He only has tickets to the last night, I believe. I'm trying desperately to trade for extra RR tickets, but we all know how hard those tickets are to come by.

Says he's never wanted to. I got an "If I was gonna marry anyone, it would be you" though. :lol And kids? I could take em or leave em! They'd be fairly easy to handle, our kids. I figure once we get them reading, we're pretty much good to go! That's the best case scenario, they just sit in their rooms and read. Realistically though, we'll have one introverted, moody-as-hell girl just like me as a child, and one very outgoing, defiant little troublemaker, just like him as a child!
Oh shit. His friend emailed him this little video yesturday, it was hilarious. There's a younger-looking dad with his little boy at the super market. I disagree. Your insurance goes down and you pay less on taxes. Those are two off the top of my head. Plus, if you're in the military, they pay for you to live out in town instead of being cooped up in the barracks. Besides, if you really love someone, and s/he loves you as much, then getting married is the best, and only way, to really put your money where your mouth is. There are several great reasons to get married. While it may not be for everyone, marriage can be an awesomely beneficial thing.

I believe that we're both approaching marriage from two entirely different perspectives. I feel that marriage can work between two people, because it can and does. Although it doesn't work all the time, it does work most of the time. It certainly isn't something you can rush into.
Conversely, you appear to view marriage as something that is fatally flawed - like it can never work. I can speculate as to how and why you feel this way, but it's not in my nature to pry. Perhaps you've been married before and it didn't work, or perhaps your friends got married and it went horribly for them. Maybe your parents got divorced - I don't know. All I know is that you seem to view the glass of marriage as half empty, to say the least, with which I strongly disagree.

:thumbsup I definitely believe that there are good reasons to get married and I want kids some day. I'm 27 and I know these things about me, but I also don't think I'm ready to be married or have kids today. I just go with the belief that when I'm with the right person and the time is right, we'll both be ready to committ to one another and get married and once ready begin a family.
I think the most important thing though for a relationship is that both people have similar beliefs, hopes, and needs. If neither wants marriage and/or children, then it should be able to work out. Just like if, although I don't really believe in, they elieve in an "open" relationship, it can work if they feel the same way. Basically, as long as both people communicate what they want and can agree on the definition of the relationship, that should be what is most important.

When your marriage isn't centered around spiritual fluff, it's nothing but a legal matter. Your signatures on a piece of paper. And don't take this to sound like I have a lack of faith in love, but sometimes there are "reconcilable differences". It's not a cop out, it's not a lack of effort, it's just better off that way sometimes. You should be able to walk away from a situation that is no longer good for you or them without having to pay out your asses for it.

if I'm ever ready to be taken for granted and in turn take someone else for granted, each day, every day, I'll get married again.
plus, it's just a big fucking financial mess and that's a headache I just don't need.
I'm sorry that things turned out less than desirable for you in your previous marriage.

I never stopped to think about it. I thought it was just how he talked! :lol

Ha, I just thought of something funny. Ever since I got my job at Costco, I've been hitting on this girl. I sell wireless phones in the Costco. So, a few days ago, we were talking about cell phones, and i checked if she was able to upgrade her phone and she mentions that her HUSBAND can get one, but she can't.
This girl is so small, she looks like she's in high school, early college. And she's married. I don't know how old she is exactly, but I was definately embarassed.
I can't believe I've reached the age where I have to start looking for rings before I start hitting on girls

perfect song for this thread
More Than This
(Ferry)
I could feel at the time
There was no way of knowing
Fallen leaves in the night
Who can say where they're blowing
As free as the wind
And hopefully learning
Why the sea on the tide
Has no way of turning
More than this - there is nothing
More than this - tell me one thing
More than this - there is nothing
It was fun for a while
There was no way of knowing
Like dream in the night
Who can say where we're going
No care in the world
Maybe I'm learning
Why the sea on the tide
Has no way of turning
More than this - there is nothing
More than this - tell me one thing
More than this - there is nothing

and that's song's antithesis
Now That I've Met you
Would you object to
Never seeing each other again
Cause I can’t afford to
Climb aboard you
No one’s got that much ego to spend
So don’t work your stuff
Because I’ve got troubles enough
No, don’t pick on me
When one act of kindness could be
Deathly
Deathly
Definitely
Cause I’m just a problem
For you to solve and
Watch dissolve in the heat of your charm
But what will you do when
You run it through and
You can’t get me back on the farm
So don’t work your stuff
Because I’ve got troubles enough
No, don’t pick on me
When one act of kindness could be
Deathly
Deathly
Definitely
You’re on your honor
Cause I’m a goner
And you haven’t even begun
So do me a favor
If I should waver
Be my savior
And get out the gun
Just don’t work your stuff
Because I’ve got troubles enough
No, don’t pick on me
When one act of kindness could be
Deathly
Deathly
Definitely

So this has been such a random week for me. Today while I was taking the ferry I met this girl (who I think is named Katie or Kate, I really need to be better about that) who was traveling to Ocean City, MD.
Anyways we got to talking and I found out that she goes to Villanova which is where both my parents went and my cousin goes. So we talked about that for a little bit and I come to find out that she knows my cousin and that both of her parents are basically from the same town that my mom is from outside of Philly. So then I come to find out that her mom went to the same high school as my mom and graduated two years after my mom.
It was just a very random moment and of course it would have been smart of me to get her number or give her my number since we are both familiar with the same areas. I mean, we used to play at the same playground in Havertown, PA when we were younger.

It's almost comical the way that life throws things at you. Relationships are one of those things that life seems to have a twisted irony about as is shown by your current situation. Life has thrown you a perfect opportunity with Rome, which you have been longing for, and has also chosen to present another option to you.
It is my opinion that neither option can be wrong in and of itself and that by some twist of fate (yes I do not believe in it, but it is an appropriate word to use) the better option will be revealed to you.
I am trying to think of a parallel situation from my life so that I can share with you a successful resolution of the current situation but for the most part I have not had such luck where someone that I have adored for so many years has been revealed to me again and that we now have an opportunity to be what we should have been.
I'm sorry I'm not much help, but I'm thinking of you.

I am officially a terrible facebook stalker. Not only can I not find the girl that I met on the ferry, but I have resorted to stalking 18 and 19 year olds at Syracuse. It's not that I am actively stalking 18 and 19 year olds, it's just that people that graduated with me never got into the facebook because it came out after we graduated.
- Matt
Facebook stalking has become a new American Hobby. We've spent hours gathered around facebook before just looking for like anyone we've ever come across and checking out what kind of loserish groups they were in and stuff.
I hung out with a hot girl one night, went home and facebooked her, and apparently she had like the lamest and weirdest interests. Plus she was a republican, meh.
I'm kidding about that. I don't care.

All I want is to find that someone indeed.
I think i'm the atypical college student. I don't want a bunch of messing around or "fun". I just want to find that one person, who as my buddy once said in a drunken state of emotion..."duuuude I just want that one girl I can sit in on friday and watch a romantic comedy with...i'm sick of all this messin around shit.."

Recently I had decided to go with the don't talk to my ex for the time being and it had been working alright. But then this past week she decided to talk to me 4 different times on MSN and suggested that we should hangout sometime. Then I check my e-mail yesterday morning and she wrote me an e-mail pretty much typing about nothing, which really strikes a spot for me because before we ever hung out face to face we e-mailed each other daily for a couple of months. E-mail had always been kind of a thing between us that we thought of being special for that reason. Just when I think its starting to get a little easier this has to happen.

Many times. I can only think of two people who've ever really been in love with me though. One is my ex, and the other lives in Minnesota and was a long distance relationship that never became anything

eh, my "drunken hookups" have never been anything more than making out, but even then I felt weird about it later. I guess I just don't like the idea of not getting to know someone before getting physical, but it seems like that's not the way things are done anymore. and part of the reason I'm lonely. being way too shy doesn't help, either.
