I came across this quote by the Dave Matthews Band and I wanted to see if someone could help me with what song it is from. I am not too familar with their songs but that quote is well writen and I want to hear the song.

“A guy and a girl can be just friends, but at one point or another, they
will fall for each other...Maybe temporarily, maybe at the wrong time,
maybe too late, or maybe forever”

The thing is, I don't have a fear of flying....i have a fear of flying alone.

I've flown with friends before, just not on my own. I wish that I could, but I just can't.

As for the girlfriend, I know that things are coming to an end unfortunately. It just sucks that she met my family, the next day I go down to Florida, and now we have problems. Now im just not sure if I should face the problems while we're 1,000 miles away from each other or wait until I come back which will be next Thursday.

I'm away, and she has shown no interest in talking to me while I'm here. I try calling her today and she's like, i just got out of the shower and can't talk now. I ask if she wants to call after she gets off of work which she used to always do. It's two days in a row, that we haven't spoken. I left her a message yesterday, she didn't call back.

And now our mutual friend texted me asking why I like her? All of this happens while i'm here. I'm afraid that she thinks she has to commit now that she met my family, and she's afraid of making a commitment. I have no idea what the hell is going on in her head, she tells our mutual friend. But does not tell me if something is bothering her. The mutal friend doesn't tell me anything either and acts as if everything is fine.

I'm honestly just tired of these games. I don't want to be the bad guy and end this over the phone. She tells me to have a good time in Florida cause I know bad news is coming when I get home.

I'd do just that... have a good time in Florida and take care of business when you get back. If it's what she wants, you wouldn't technically be the bad guy for doing it on the phone. But if it's salvagable, give it a little time and talk to her when you get back... explain about the committment issue, etc.... But above all right now, enjoy yourself in Florida, man!

Weekend was good... except that the first 2 nites on my gf's grandmother's couch made my whole body sore and stiff... then i caught her mom's sore throat (still recovering)... but we saw downtown Charleston, the battery, rainbow row... went to isle of palms beach with her little cousin.. met the rest of her family... had another long talk as we swung on the swinging bench on the pier at waterfront park... overall a good weekend... but i must say i'm quite happy to come home.

I propose a question - would you rather work in an office where the AC is too cold, or in an office without AC, which would be wicked hot?

Well Chase, it is not as complicated as it sounds. Buush diving is an art that can be perfected in a very short amount of time. The picture you see in my avatar is, in fact, my first attempt. All you have to do is get good and inebriated, find a buush (preferably bigger than your own body - as you can see I picked a rather harmless tiny buush), and fall back into it. Also it is preferred to be giggling uncontrollably as you do this. I think the next logical step is obviously out of trees into buushes, and now it is my mission to do this at Alpine. :) Feel free to PM me if you need any more advice. ;)

so we broke up today......

her in jersey, on her lunch break. Me in florida in my bathing suit sitting poolside. I had to call her from my moms cell phone because she was avoiding my calls. I wanted to end it now just so that I could stop thinking about it. She was the one that said she wanted to get out first, but this was a mutual thing. I did a lot of thinking this week, and I really realized that I was just not happy anymore, not comfortable anymore. And I just wanted it to end.

We were not going to see other for a while since we were both working and it was bound to end the next phone call. So, i guess my only question is, was it jerky to end it over the phone with us 1,000 miles apart? The breakup was inevitable. I just wanted to it to happen asap

Jar, I'm sorry. :hug I don't think it was jerky to end it over the phone for a few reasons. You said it was mutual so I'm guessing she wanted to end it asap also, especially if she was avoiding your calls this whole time. The phone on my lunch break was how I got my heart broken last September. Yeah, it sucks. But do I think the guy was an asshole over it? No. We're still really good friends. We ended up seeing each other after the phone call because I needed to have it end in person. That's just me, but if you guys are both fine with it - which it seems you are, then it's alright. I don't think it makes you a bad person at all. Why put yourselves through any more than you're already going through?

It's early and I'm rambling. I hope I've helped in some way. I'll be back later when I go to work but just know that we're all here for you. :) :hug :hug

No it wasn't jerky... you both knew it was going to happen, so no reason to prolong the inevitable. If it's mutual then it wasn't an asshole thing to do. Her avoiuding your calls was the more jerky thing to do. I hope you feel better.

True true. You should move to NYC if you get the opportunity. It's not everyday you get a chance to pack up and move to an exciting place like that! It usually takes someone you know pretty well to make something like that happen. I'd like to live in Boston one day. That's my dream. :)

I just apologize to you guys, i think all you've heard the past month about me was me not being sure about how the relationship is.

But, I can honestly say that i feel like a burdon is gone. I thought about her, but I feel that its better now that its over. I realize that the only reason why I still wanted it to continue was....unfortunately, because she actually liked me and wanted to be with me at one time. I know she hasn't felt that way lately. I guess it was hard for me to say goodbye to someone that wanted to be with me.

I'll admit, i'm not good with the ladies and opportunities for me just do not come very often. So, i hope another opportunity will come along. Maybe not a relationship anytime soon, just something.

hey thanks guys, HR is the best place in the world, truly is.

:)

Being single, I think, is great for a few reasons.

1. You don't have to worry about constantly having to please or think about your girlfriend.

2. You don't have to worry about what she's thinking about.

3. You don't have to worry about whether or not she likes another guy.

4. You don't have to worry about whether or not you like her more than she likes you (or vice versa).

And finally...

5. You don't have to WORRY.

Don't get me wrong - I wish I had a girlfriend. I am a loner and love my "Chase time" but I miss the company and intimacy a girlfriend provides. Here's the thing, though - if you have to worry about all that shit I just mentioned, then it's probably not a relationship worth having. I can't wait to find someone where that'll happen. Patience, my friend. Patience. Until then all you can do is sit back and enjoy the ride, I suppose. It's one helluva ride. :cool

When you least expect it, Jar. That's when something else will come along.

:thumbsup YES.

However...

What if you expect it to happen when you're not expecting it? :confused

I've been expecting it to happen when I'm not expecting it for the past couple of years and I haven't had anything significant happen. Just a lot of lessons learned. :lol I think I may need to change my belief and outlook on dating. I'm only receptive to meeting chicks I want to date at concerts (primarily DMB shows). That really thins the pool out. :lol

:lol What I mean is that you shouldn't expect it at all - when you don't want it to happen, when you're not looking, when you're finally okay with being on your own...that type of thing. :)

The best advice I can give anyone who's down on relationships is to not worry about them so much. Occupy your time with things that assert your identidy and keep you busy. Example: I'm in a band, am an English Major and do alot of reading, writing and checking out of local bands. Add in work and visits to the gym and there is always something for me to do. Being busy like this also puts me in many social situations. I'm never short of new people to meet.

If it sounds hard to you, it will be. But like anything, it gets easier. Good luck.

Okay. The thing with Jon, the guy from the lake. Here's how it all wound up.

He admits he made mistakes, llike messin around with me when he basically just wanted to mess around with a girl! I have to understand that it was as much my fault as his, I wasn't exactly pulling away. And it was fun so I'm glad I did it. LoL. I had to take a break from writing this just to think about it. :lol

Anyway. He didn't mean to hurt me.. he wanted to be friends.. just to be in contact with me because he felt bad about shutting me out like he did years ago.. I should accept his apology because it is genuine and he is very direct about his intentions. We couldn't have anything if he wanted to, we live too far apart. We live very different lives too. It wouldn't work. Doesn't mean we can't be friends and check up on eachother from time to time. We do have the lake. ;)

Honestly the best things really do coem when you least expect it. That's how it was with my girlfriend. I honestly had no intentions and then all of a sudden things happened. And it's been the best 5 months in as long as I could remember. Good things coem to those who wait

I was just going to say... when you find the right person you shouldnt have to worry about any of these things... and then read the last part of your post :)

The current plan is that Chris is coming to Syracuse on Thursday afternoon/night so that we can head to The Limerick Pub and grab a drink. We will be driving to SPAC on Friday during the day, most likely leaving by 2 at the absolute latest. I would love to get on the road by noon.

We will take our stuff to the hotel and then pack up the car (I'm planning on bringing my mom's SUV) with all of the stuff that we need to actually tailgate with. I want to try and roll into the park at the same time that everyone else is getting there so that we can get close to them for tailgating purposes.

So Jess, come to Syracuse, either with Chris or on your own.
