I'm fairly new to guitar, and am trying to learn One Sweet World. The only problem is, I'm having trouble with the slide. I just don't know what fingures to use, I've tried my ring fingure, pinky, and even both, but can't get it to sound right consistently. DMBtabs says to use both, but thats the hardest one, any suggestions other than practice.

That was the first song I learned on guitar. Not a good one to pick first. Great song, though.
Anyways, I am assuming you are talking about the
9 - 11
9 - 11
slide
I definitely use my pinky and right fingers. What is the problem you are having specifically?
Keep working at it, you will get it.

You want to use both ring and pinky fingers.
It definatly is a hard slide to get to sound correct because of the muting necessary.

Yeah I use both, you have to spend an amount of time strengthening your fingers and getting used to the slide. I had similar problems when I was learning slides and bends. I just played songs that used a lot of slides or bends and just kept hammering them out until I got it. If you keep practicing the slide it will come. Your comment about getting things to sound right consistently is what it is all about and is what I find to be the most challenging part if playing guitar (and most rewarding), but repetition will help getting your fingers to "remember" what they are doing. The song is a little more involved than others, but I think it will be a good one for you to work out.

I know what you mean. It is easy to overslide or play the 11's too early. All I can recommend is practice. Listen to the song, get the rhythm. Make sure that you got the strings pressed down the whole way through. It is easy to pull off them as you slide, making the strings buzz or giving you a bad sound. Make it all the way through it.
Good luck.

Thanks for all the comments. I kinda have the slide down with just my pinky, do you think I should try and learn it with both fingures or stick to what works. By the way, I'll start posting in here more often, just reading what you guys say is inspirational, and gets me in the mood to keep practicing, thanks everyone for the help. :)

Yes, my mistake. I don't know why I said 9-11

I think it would be a lot easier to use both fingers. For me it is very comfortable and easier to slide on the tips of the fingers rather than the flat part of a pinky. But if it works for you to use just the pinky then there isn't really a problem.

I'd go with learning to use both fingers. It will help you learn full control over both fingers then.

I agree! It will pay off in the long run to learn the correct methods.
