i've been playing for 3 years now...and i can't get my pinky finger to fit on my fretboard. i rarely use it, and it's impeding me a bit whenever i play melodic solos. i play okay up at the top of the fretboard, but the further down i get...it gets harder. any suggestions for me? Get smaller fingers I guess? :mad

so your finger is too big to fit in the fret? after what # do you have problems?

well my pinky isn't that big, but i have large hands, so it seems like i don't have enough room to get my pinky up to the E-A-D area.
i start having problems around 8-10. maybe i just need to work on it more.

Your post was a bit confusing. The "top" of the fretboard is actually up near the 12th fret and that end. The part by the 1st fret is the "bottom" of the fretboard.

so if your pinky doesn't fit, how do your other fingers manage? I assume they're considerably bigger.. do you never solo past that 8-10 point? maybe considering a wide neck guitar or something like it... scalloped frets maybe?
