so my band.. we are playing at this thing our town has called the Upbeat "Up All Night". Its a deal where you get there at 7 and leave at 7 in the morning..

anyways..

my band.. because of the fact that we are kinda new.. are opening for a few bands.. and we would like to record our performance!

I am about to go to GUitar Center and buy a few mics, mic stands, and everything. My freinds band teacher is lending us a TascamMkII to record with. Its got 4 inputs.. which should work good.. because there arew only two insturments and a vocalist.

Does anyone have an idea of what mics i should use to record what is coming out of the amps.. ands which mic to use for singing?

My Civics teacher is in a band and he says to use Dynamic mics for the amps.. and a regular mic for the vocals. WHat would you guys say?

and if you see this.. please hurry.. i have to leave within the next few hours so please help. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s. sorry for the bad typing..

A Shure 57 is good for instruments, and a 58 is good for vocals.
Both of those are inexpensive, and perfect for 'live' stage shows.

just stick a microphone on top of a mic stand and point it in between your drummer and one of the side speakers... you only need one decent mic and a computer to record...

if you point it at the drummer, all you'll hear is crashes and snare, if you point it at the speaker, you wont get a whole lot of the drummer... its kinda tricky...

this is the equip i use...

sure sm58 (mic) ---> small mixer (so that i can get a headphone out signal) ---> the "line in" on your comp

then open up creative recorder, or whatever program you have on your comp and make sure you have enough space to record a show in wav format... thats it
