I know these guitars sound extremely different, but im in love with both of them! This thread will probably stir up some "Taylor vs. Martin" controversy, but which guitar would you choose if you had to buy one or the other??:monkey (i love the monkey)

Taylor lovers: "The Taylor!"

Martin lovers: "The Martin!"

Don't we have enough of this going on already?

Aren't we like supposed to make an effort not to start BS threads, especially when there is another three on the same topic at the first page?

I wouldn't trade my Taylor 814ce for any Martin. Not trying to star a fight or anything, but...

get both....problem solved

in all seriousness though, it kind of depends on what you're trying to do. if you want to play live, the 814ce has an excellent factory installed pickup (ES or Fishman depending on the year) and the x14 body size is fantastic with live applications, yielding a very manageable bass response, not too boomy. if you're primarily playing unplugged right now, then the hd28v might be a better choice. you can always add pickups later should you decide you want to play out regularly.

if you still can't decide, see my opening remark... :)

Obviously everyone has there own preferences.

Id just save up the extra $'s and get the 914ce. Unless, you see something you want more in the 814ce.

:cool

I don't think there is a Martin made (except the peacock) that I would trade my 814ce for.

It is completely up to you and your ear.

Good luck.

i have the 410e and it sounds amazing. . . Amazing tone, action and overall quality. I've played both Taylors and Martins and personally I like the Taylors.

I have the 814ce, i love it a TOn. I was deciding on the same two, but in the end i decided on the taylor, they both sound GRRReat but i think the taylor is easier to play. you should play both a lot, then decide.

The 814ce has more features and is more playable. Just got new frets on mine and it plays/sounds great
