What kind of pick is Dave using this tour? They don't appear to be the goto orange tortex anymore. Based on the 6/7 show video screen they look black. Couldn't make out what they said though.

They were black last year, too. I think it's the same pick, just black instead of orange.

Does anyone know what strength he uses? Soft, Medium, Hard ... thanks in advance

Like I said, I think they're the same picks as they used to be (the orange dunlops), but now their black.

so in light of that, the orange ones he used to Dunlop Tortex .60mm.

So, if I'm right in that they are the same picks, but different color, those Dunlop's are the ones you want.

I recently switched to them after using Dunlop Nylon .60mm for a long time and I'm enjoying the extra volume I'm getting out of it.

if you zoom in you can see them, looks like they're about a medium.

i can't fathom how he plays with those .6's. those things are so fuckin flimsy i feel like im playing with a piece of paper.

^ I've gotten used to playing softer picks and the sound that it creates once you find your way in so nice ... I can see why he uses them.

why use a pick that your favorite artist uses. use what you feel is right for you.

Perhaps the possibility exists that an amateur wishes to use the same equipment as a professional, regardless of the artist.

I didn't take offense to it at all, just couldn't tell if you were refering to what I said or not.

No worries

God, people like you are idiots. Ever think that someone might want to have a sound similar to their favorite artist?

I prefer the softer picks as well. Although I just recently started learning how to use a pick. (Taught myself classical, never used a pick) It's fun.. real loud... but fun.

Carbon, you are hung up on people trying to act like Dave aren't you? Are you going to accuse some of us of not being an individual because we were inspired to learn to play the guitar because of Dave?

(Refer back to the Martin v. Taylor discussion to understand what I mean).

Oh and I love a good thin pick. Dunlop .50 is what I use. I love em.

i thought DAve had custom picks? maybe they are just Dunlop .6's, but have a DMB logo on it? But i was certian that for a few years now at least he's had custome picks with a logo....

^Yeah instead of the Turtle design it's "DMB" written in some kinda script.

I use the Jim Dunlop Nylon 1.0mm. It is a black pick and the only pick I will ever use, because it is stiff but not too fat. Thin picks just don't seem as precise to me. Also other picks produce noise when attacking the string, where as the Dunlop is virtual silent until the string is actually plucked.

so much for being an individual.

because your guitar pick is REALLY an expression of your individuality.

Anyone ever try the Everly Star Grip picks? I use Dunlop Tortex's next but have a hard time with them slipping. I was wondering what sound you got out of these Everly's.
