Do you hate it when DMB does Long Black Veil, Watchtower and other covers? Hmm? Those are covers and I love listening to DMB cover different tunes. Anyhow, for the rest of you peeps...
Our sound clips ... we're working on those for everyone. It's super frustrating. We'll get it right soon.
We're still looking for a drummer. We are occassionally blessed with the talent of John Staten from Karl Denson's Tiny Universe on the drums when he is not on tour. We need someone close to his ability to fill in the role. Big shoes... fun times... money and music to be made.
San Diego is a nice place to be drummin69. The beaches, scenery, and lifestyle are tough. Note the sarcasm.

No, I don't hate it when DMB covers songs. But they're also not called The Jonny Cash Experience (JCX).:rolleyes

cover bands bank off other peoples music to make money. dmb made their own music and got famous. big difference.

you guys are all just jealous because you're not talented like these guys in DMBx.
especially that violinist --- she's not only amazingly talented, but she's hot! :-)

no she's not...but she dresses like she is, so more power to her for playing the hand she was dealt
as for tribute bands, what the hell do i care what anybody else plays in their local club...whatever gets your rocks off.

We perform originals at our shows too. Playing DMB is fun, it takes talent, and we get nice exposure for ourselves. It's a nice way to get a big crowd and get paid... sure. Since the originals we play sound similar to DMB we sneak a few in. Everyone's entitled to their opinion and that's cool. We're still looking for a drummer. I take it Cottle Rocket and Carbon Copy don't want to audition?! Sound clips to be up tomorrow. Bring on the love and hate mail. It's all good.

The original, "If There's A Way," sounds like watered down DMB. It's not bad, just generic. It seems like you already know that though, so I guess there's no harm in having fun.

I'd agree with that assessment and am not offended by it. "If there's a way" was originally written as an acoustic tune with two guitars and harmony for much of the vocals. We add the sax and violin and everyone says we're watered down DMB. No biggie. It's actually more influenced by John Mayer than Dave (and I know how much DMB fans hate John Mayer), but Mayer can flat out play the guitar. Anyhow, that is another fire waiting for gasoline to be thrown on it. We have another tune that is influenced by "You Never Know" called "Left Behind", but we really don't have a good recording of it yet. We're still working on our song writing which, in my opinion, is the real art of all musicians. I appreciate that you even listened to it.

Song samples should be working now. You'll need Quicktime to listen.

We're trying to play more. We get booked like crazy out here but we have to limit the shows we do or else we ruin our turnout at big places here in San Diego. We also have touring members in our band with other cover and original projects. That also hinders when we can play. We just submitted some promo packs to some major production companies and we're waiting to see what's going to happen. Ultimately, we'd like to do an hour of originals and two hours of DMB tribute so we can put our music out there in front of bigger audiences. If in the area, get in touch with us so you can sit in.

i will give you props. i have checked out a lot of those cover band's websites and i think that most of them suck. usually it's the singer's fault or the drummer just isn't carter enough or the violinist just doesn't have the right sound but you guys really sound good. i like the drummer a lot. too bad you're loosing him. i would love to do it but i live in MA. i know you're probably getting sick of hearing that but hey...i think you guys are good.
