My little bro wants to play snare but the director won't let him. He is better than all the other snare players but the director says he needs him playing the clarinet because he is also the only clarinet that can be heard on the field.

haha your brother sucks

but yeah anyway, i miss the drumline so much

i played: 9th grade-cymbals; 10th-2nd bass; 11th-3rd bass(bass leader!); and 12th-quints(section leader!)

but yeah anyway i dont know if i could have gotten through the mundaneness of high school without the dl... it just sucks because now i havent even picked up a pair of sticks in over a year :lorraine

I recently joined a competitive drumline that should start touring soon next year. My brother is the drummer in the family, I believe he's playing snare or maybe a bass. I joined as a guitar player in the battery. It's a lot of fun, and has taught me a ton about music.

Marched trumpet for 4 years in high school, then played snare the summer after I graduated.

Marched another 3 years of trumpet in college, and now I'm going on 2nd year as Drum Major here at University of North Dakota.

i was pit section leader in high school for 3 years. all my friends, minus me (long story), are in DCI. they are now touring the country for finals in New Jersey. So lucky!!!

the band kinda sucks but the drumline is solid!
i dont mean to sound cocky but we are good, we marched the rose parade last year and now this year we are playing the cadets street time cadance (complete straight, not watered) its crazy but alot of fun.

my senior year, our drumline/pit was the best in SoCal. Even though the pit wasnt that great, the drumline was Drum Corp level. we would gather crowds while warming up in the lot.

we had a dci show in sioux falls a few weeks ago and the trooper were staying at our school which is where we practice. so we are out there just building chops when the troopers drumline comes over to watch us. well we were playing triplet diddle and although it was clean its not anything to amazing. so as like 3 mins later we broke for lunch and so i said 'hey tenors lets play bunco rules (the cavies cadance)' so we play it but we put in this riverside split role in the place of the bass feature. haha it was awesome. the troopers just turned around and walked away hahahah

I gave up percussion after middle school. I got bored during concert season. I took up bassoon and marched guard (flag, rifle, and sabre) for 3 years. Then, my senior year I was drum major. First guard member to ever become DM, so I was pretty psyched. Now I'm done. I might go back and do an independent guard this winter though.

my cousin is a damn good snare player. he did DL in highschool and was in the University of Deleware marching band, but he had to stop after this year.

i play sax, so im not in drumline, but i was in the indoor drumline a few years ago.

what are you talking about man! snare is soo light compared to the rest of the drumline's drums. full size double spock tenors are heavier than even bass 6! but i will agree that snare can be very boring unless it has so sweet licks in the book like flam fives and inverts. tenors are the way to go!

I marched the 32 inch bass my first year...and I'm not a big guy....that was before we got bass stands too.

We used Pearl my first year too....which are heavier then yamaha.

yea our school just had half size tenors till we went undefeated for 2 years at which point the Bandparents Asso. found it ok to give us new drums (hmmmm.... what happend to 'its not about winning'.) anyways we got doubl spock full size yamaha outdoor feild tenors. which happened to be the first year i marched for my hs. lucky me huh?? hahahaha
