Ohh it's happening, it's brought up more and more each day. I can't wait for the day he makes that announcement.
It'll for sure be even more epic than the engagement announcement!!
Beth sounded pretty convincing on the wrap up show yesterday though. The whole "its not on my mind now and if I wanted a kid 10 years from now I would adopt"
I dunno..I think her clock is really ticking deep down.

Great artie line today when they were talking about richard not knowing the meaning of 'favorite'.
Artie: "Richard, the english language sometimes has to create words. Like if someone says 'Richard is a smart guy', they had to make up the word 'Sarcastic'".

God no, not me. I've ALWAYS abhorred reality TV, hearing Howard go on about it incessantly like a 13 year girl never changed that. One of my favorite things that Artie ever does is when he rags on the rest of them for watching that shit so much.
Hell, I still have trouble accepting that so many fans who love DMB enough to post on a forum would even at all be into something like American Idol.

I loved listening to the crew reacting to Eric the Midgets insult battle with the caller. That was great.
Actually I thought their whole "ho!!" reactions over and over again to all the "insults" were getting pretty old after not very long.
Hey I know this is going back to last week, but the day they were talking to JD about the wedding and they slipped in that little detail about Robin keeping this one secret to herself about how she was SO ashamed of something she did when she was really drunk (I'm not sure how long ago), and that Howard and Artie both know what it is but that she'd never tell -- was I the only one guessing it was that she went drunk driving? I mean, I'm sure actually the large bulk of us having technically been "drunk driving" at least once in our lives (since by the numbers it doesn't take very much to legally be drunk) but I got the feeling it was like she was just PLASTERED off her ass, and still drove. Just the way they were talking about it, that seems like the most likely and logical choice to me (particularly Artie saying he's seriously done "it" several hundred times in his life).
junior94
05-11-2009, 02:48 AM
Oh and to me Artie is just showing more and more all the time just how ugly he is on the inside and letting his asshole nature shine thru. I'm so over him, he could finally eat a bullet tomorrow and I don't think I'd shed a single tear. I'm getting pretty tired of him. Also it's like the way he acts out, it's like he thinks he's the only one in the world with problems. Grow the fuck up and deal with your shit like a man already, dude.
It's incredibly narcissistic of him going on and on about how he's sure Lisa G is just dying for him to "fail". Gee, then how shocked am I that Robin of all people pretty much agreed with him :rolleyes

I'm not, really. Artie has always had this side to him that's a hateful, homophobic, self loathing asshole, and it's gotten to be his dominant personality lately and he's practically gone off the deep end.
Artie, enough with the cracks that have to do with white chicks fucking black guys. We're plenty aware now it's not really simply coming from a place of "humor". :rolleyes

That being said, I think Artie's cracks on Baba Booey the past few days have been his best ever imo.
But I agree, he gets carried overboard on his rants from time to time.
junior94
05-14-2009, 06:19 AM
And I've come to the conclusion that I'm really annoyed by Artie's "extreme" laugh. The one he's been falling into a lot lately where he's just whaling in laughter, so much that it practically puts a stop to everyone else on the show, that "Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhaaaa ahaaaahaaaa!!!!!"
Plus it so often seems to hit right on a point where the joke being made somehow is saying that he's better than someone else in some particular way, or this other person is more pathetic than him, etc (& that he seems to keep it going for like more than 20 seconds at a time.. it's like c'mon dude, there's not that much stuff that is that funny that much of the time). And the especially strange kicker is, part of what annoys me about it -- I know it's a genuine laugh, and yet it still kinda sounds forced, I think. Figure that one out :p
Though, I'll concede the possibility that I'm getting more and more fed up with Artie overall lately, and so without even really thinking about it directly I'm finding all this specific reasons for why he's being a prick, or annoys me, etc.
On a whole other note, I had an odd discovery the other day with a Howard TV episode. I DL'd the Norm interview and was loving watching it, and I knew from beforehand the file was about 35:00 long. Well then so towards the end Norm makes the joke about oh so you're just kicking me out now, to which Howard retorts that "c'mon, we've been here for like an hour and a half!" And I'm thinking whaaa?? Oh, they must be making some kind of exaggeration joke. I mean, I know obviously plenty of segments and bits have been edited for their broadcast on HTV, but then I found out later that about 90 minutes really was how long the interview was. Man if I actually paid for HTV I think I'd be upset. Of all the damn interviews you're gonna cut more than half the material from, it's gonna be Norm?! He's one of the greatest guests ever! :ugh

:ugh

I haven't been over there in quite a long time, probably over a year. And I didn't end up posting very much, as I'm sure most of you guys have found it's fucking nuts over there, what I saw didn't exactly motivate me to want to keep sticking around. Between some unbelievably annoying trolls, and also Mods that won't allow you to share even barely the slightest dissenting opinion on something to do with the show before practically banning you...
:lol Sometimes I'm absolutely baffled about the ladies they go on and on about.
I might've talked about this point already in here, I forget, but I think at least part of this is due to Howard getting older and not feeling he wants or has to be so overly critical anymore of women. He obviously was far more blunt in the future, calling out a woman if he didn't think was all that attractive. But I think now (& maybe a product of his therapy, who knows) perhaps the thought process is "what am I REALLY getting after telling this woman to her face she's not very good looking after all, and doing so in this very public forum and likely hurting her feelings?" And I think that's a good thing.
Of course, yes there's certainly a difference between being somewhat sensitive like that to a girl's feelings, and going out of your way practically to pour praise on a woman's hotness when it's not really the reality. Then again obviously, it's all subjective. There have been a number of girls on there that I know a lot of fans wouldn't be crazy about, thought a girl was maybe too plain looking, or had a little too much meat on her bones, that I thought I'd be thrilled and lucky to have her as a girlfriend.. that kinda thing.

I'm watching these progression of HTV segments about all the flack Gary's taking over the pitch. Now obviously a core element to this show has always been about breaking each other's balls, but in my opinion Artie has so often gone right past that into just simply being an asshole. Plus more and more lately he seems way too impressed by his own jokes, which is something I absolutely HATE when a comedian does :rolleyes

It was. Robin took over the interview for a bit there... uncalled for. And I love Artie saying how he feels, but he dragged out the whole hating-Tom-Cruise thing too long, especially when he was getting mad at Jimmy. Too angry. Too much. I was just watching the video from the Intern Beauty Pageant, ya know it has to be kinda difficult to be a youngish single guy working there, especially if you're on a lower rung. Because even if you get a good vibe from one of the girls, so many of them are attractive (the girl who won, Brittany, jesus she was sexy I fell in love right away :D), you don't know what to do about it only because it's gotta be SUCH a cliche at this point that EVERY guy there probably hits on them in some way, so the last thing I'd wanna do is just be another in a long line of guys trying to get somewhere.

Well I'll preface this by reminding the thread that I didn't start listening with any kind regularity until like late 2000-ish. I only heard very scant pieces of the show here and there before that, though of course thru general pop culture awareness I knew stuff about it.
Having said that, ever since collecting Howard TV episodes since 2006 I have gotten to see a number of old KROCK segments. This may just sound like a rationalization, but I believe it to be true. When Howard used to use "fag" as much as he did, there was still genuine comedy behind it, and it was just for the sake of the joke. When Artie does it (& especially lately) there's virtually no doubt in my mind it's born out of the hatred and disgust for the lifestyle he has in his heart, and I mean it's not even worth "pointing out" his severe homophobia at this point because even the most casual listener knows how painfully obvious that is.
And also of course his own terrible self-loathing plays a part.

I feel bad for Baba Booey, that whole procedure sounds downright hellacious.
Actually I've had this procedure done myself, MULTIPLE times over the years, and my mom is just coming off it from like a week ago. We've had plenty of kidney stones between myself, my mother and my brother. I mean I've never had to have multiple Lithiotripsies for the same stone (that's the term for the procedure, of them blasting it with ultrasonic waves from outside the body) but I have had the thing done 3 times since 2001 for different stone "episodes". Yea the whole actual thing itself is nothing, because you're asleep, but the first piss you take once it's done is pretty rough, it's basically 100% blood you piss out, but they also have you on some solid painkillers, so...
I've also had the procedure done once that apparently he might have to have, where they go in thru the side of your back to access the stone in the ureter there. It ESPECIALLY sucked for me, because you have to wear a urine collection bag that's directly connected to you for a couple days post-op, it's supposedly to only stay for like maybe 3 days, but I wasn't healing properly, I have to have the thing attached to me for a fucking MONTH.
But yea I also had a stent put in for my most recent one a couple years ago, and I was NOT awake for its removal. and what pissed me off even more as I'm sitting there squirming and trying to stifle a scream in the doctor's office he keeps giving me these looks and being like "oh c'mon, get it under control", like it's some walk in the park. I was like are you serious asshole? I wanted to deck the jackass :lol

Wow Dave was mentioned on the wrap-up show! Gary said that he knows he is a great musician and he saw a great interview with him on tv this week. He said that he met him once at K-rock and Gary mentioned it to him, but he wasn't sure if Dave would be interested in Howard's show because he didn't think he was a fan of his music. He did say he was a cool guy and right now he has a really good story.
Interesting...its too bad because last week would have been the week to do it - with the all-DMB radio station, and the fact that they were in NYC all week!

I heard that as well. I think Gary was bullshitting with his answer. I think the fact that Dave isn't on the show has a lot more to do with the fact that he doesn't need the publicity than it has to do with Gary's opinion on Dave being an "interesting guest". So you mean to tell me Lisa Lampanelli and Joan Rivers four times a year is interesting?

Did anyone listen to Sam Simon yesterday on the show?
I almost puked when I heard him say that his ex-wife (Jennifer Tilley) told him not to do the Simpsons that is was a bad idea, then when they got divorced after 7 years, she got a percentage of the royalties. Here's where I almost puked.....
She has made over 100 MILLION dollars on royalties over the years!!
Unbelieveable!!!
Now I know why she does crappy movies and plays poker......
WOW.... 100 Million ... crazy shit

there are no words to describe it. you have to see it for yourself. it was so bad it was fascinating to watch. artie was a little over the top but you could tell he was sitting backstage thinking to himself "what the fuck am i doing here?" and had to liven things up a little. and the best part about it was you could see how pissed off joe was. it was amazing

I'm really starting to think so. For instance yesterday when Artie was five minutes late Howard said "Good we'll get five minutes to talk".

Good, it's about goddamn time. Artie needs to be taken down a peg or two. If 2001 Artie could see 2009 Artie, 2001 would be beside himself in a myriad of ways.
He has no right to have a show. Artie was definitly over the top but Joe had NOOOOO clue how to handle comedians.
I appear to be one of the very few people on this entire site that actually likes Joe Buck (for the record, for what it's worth, I can't fucking stand Tim McCarver). And whereas a lot of times when I see a lot of people hating on a celebrity, even if I don't personally agree, I can kinda understand why, but it's not really the case with Buck. I mean I'm not some fanboy, not like he's my "favorite" announcer ever or anything, but I dig him. And hell even a lot of local people here in Philly were griping during the playoffs last year that he was basically showing favoritism to the Dodgers, and I just didn't really see it.
Having said all that, I haven't seen a single minute of this new show of his, but I certainly totally concede the possibility that it could be dreadful. Just like anything else can.
Artie's perception of how well he did was a bit skewed if you ask me
I'm shocked! :eek Artie probably thought he came off better and more superior than he likely actually did?? No!

Well solely going by that (again, not seeing the actual show myself), while I have to admit it's incredibly lame that Buck's favorite site is TMZ, but damn... congrats Artie for pretty much becoming a full blown bitter douchebag by now. I could maybe see if Buck was antagonizing him and being an ass in the first place, but if he just wasn't what Artie deemed a quality interview and/or host, that doesn't warrant Artie being a shit.
Thing is, yea we all know that Howard is one of the biggest culprits of loving all that teenage girl fluff shit, he'd be into TMZ and whatnot, and Artie often calls him on it on the show, but Artie's gotta know that plays much differently when it's someone else. It's like forgetting that you're not just sitting around with your family and you start saying something because you're so used to it being perfectly understood, but it's not.
