Shit, if they aren't going to fill the Artie chair with someone, they might as well fill it with Shuli. Whenever he's in studio I find myself laughing. He's really quick on his feet too, which is what you need in that chair. I know Howard said it once on the air, but I wish he'd follow through. SHULI FOR THE ARTIE CHAIR!
Where did Shuli come from? I just remember him as a caller on the WXRK show begging for a job on Sirius. Was kinda surprised he got an on-air job because I think he was just a caller asking for a job. Didn't know much about him before that.

I don't know he just annoys me. I like Jim Breuer. But I don't think they will put anyone in that chair, at least until Howard figures out his contract situation.

Shuli is fucking hilarious. Listen to some of the roasts, he destroys people. There were a few segments on the Best Of thing this past week where he sat in and he was great. Did anyone listen this morning? More praise from Howard and the callers loved him too. If they aren't going to get someone new like Breuer or Carolla... put Shuli in there.

All I know is I haven't been laughing at the Stern show lately at all. Shuli came in yesterday and I laughed. Even if he made it up, its funnier than anything they've been doing.

But if Howard really is going to not re-up (which I still think is the case), at this point with so little time left is there really a point to making someone officially fill the chair?

Me too, by far my favorite part of any show.
I loved yesterday when he was ripping Booey, and Booey wasn't responding. Howard goes "If you notice Gary is not responding, he is trying to cover those huge chicklets with those massive lips and gums, but they aren't fitting. His teeth are peaking out" :lol

Fitzsimmons and Gary are loving all this attention to their books and should thank Howard for it. I won't buy Fitz but will Gary.
That KC call in and challenge to Grillo was so staged, like right out of WWE. It just seemed so contrived.
I was thinking of current or recent Stern cast members and who they replaced and it seems that the replacements added so much more.
Richard Christy > KC Armstrong. KC had some funny moments, but Christy has produced better stuff (audio book cut ups, phony phone calls) and his conversations with his hick father have been priceless.
Artie > Jackie. Jackie may have been a better writer, and that laugh of his did crack me up at times, but Artie was just funnier and a better personality for the show.
Sal > Grillo. Same with Christy, Grillo had a few funny moments with the show but Sal has added so much more with the wife stories and such.
Stuttering John > Gary Garver. Garver could never top the original. SJ, while a dummy, was a legend in that role.
Steve Langford > Old bastard. I forget the guy's name that did the news on Sirius for Stern (not Ralph Howard) but Gary chastised the guy on the air about not caring for the Howard show much. He was soon gone.
Penny Crone > Lisa G. Sorry, but Crone was a better personality and great for the news, although I don't know if they started at the same time or not.

Podcast would be extremely lame. That eliminates having callers. If he's not going to do it the right way, just hang it up. The show is getting extremely boring as it is, don't take away one of the better elements of it.

I dont agree that the show is boring, I still enjoy listening to it. But I don't know how well I would follow him if he does a podcast. He doesn't take that many callers as it is anyways, so that doesn't bother me. The callers he normally takes are the wackpackers for the most part so I don't think that would change since they can call them. But it will be interesting to see what ends up happening.

Well as I've primarily followed it since the move via dl'ing HTV episodes, I wonder if the video side of it would continue in a more scaled down operation.
I love how Benjy still gets upset about Steve reporting his age.
Please, Benjy has an extreme reaction to a situation, which he will always do no matter what it is, to keep trying to get attention.
I've always loathed Ralph, like really bad, but I so despise Benjy in comparison it makes my hate for Ralph look like love. :lol

He would figure out a way to stream it live. Then also offer it as downloadable content. But I don't think Howard wants to do this.
Howard wants the security of a company that pays him and his staff. He doesn't want to be responsible for paying his staff based on the number of subscribers he gets to his podcast willy...IMO

From what I got listening today, it seems Stern wants to do 3 days and Sirius may be balking. I think it's 2 fold on Stern's part: He really is tired and wants to enjoy more time w/Beth in the Hamptons, thus probably wants Monday and Friday off with a 5 hour show from maybe 8am-1pm Tue-Thur. The other is he sees the writing on the wall and knows he won't get a raise, so by going to 3 days at the same salary, in essesence it's like getting a raise. He keeps the same salary for less days. Of course Sirius is balking. I can deal with Best Of if it's either recent content or really funny stuff (legendary stuff like Axl and Sabastian calling in, etc). But not lame stuff from 1991 that doesn't play well today.
It will be interesting. If he goes to 3 days and Sirius raises the rate to like $15 or $20 per month (which they may to recoup losses, which is probably why they're balking at 3 days and need him for 4 days to justify increases), I think I may pass. Some of the better shows are on youtube in 2 days after original air date anyway.

I also think he wants summers off. I think Stern wants a 7-11 show Tues - Thurs, summers off, plus a few vacations throughout the year, for the same salary. Sirius doesn't want to pay him, but they are in a bind because they know they will lose many subscribers if he leaves (me being one). I like some of the other content, but I subscribe strictly for Howard. Howard is also in a bind, because he wants the security of company to pay him and his staff, where he doesn't have to count on the number of subscribers. He knows if he goes the podcast willy route, he may lose a lot of his staff. It is very interesting that Howard said he would still sign on for 5 years.
Mel and Howard do have a good relationship, so I can see them trying to work something out, but the numbers just may not match up for Sirius or Howard. For me, I would pay for whatever service Howard goes to for 3 days a week. I need a Howard fix.

So... suddenly paying even a higher rate than you do now for getting even less show than you do now?
Am I the only one seeing the fault in that logic? Who the hell would pay more to get less?

Well and I'm sure there are more fans out there like you, it just seems kind of ridiculous to me. I mean if Comcast says to me, okay we're reducing your overall channel selection by half, but your monthly bill will be double it's present amount, I'd laugh at them. It seems crazy to ask that of people.

you're forgiven.:lol
Yeah, the logic is screwy but I honestly think Stern pulled a fast one by getting Friday's off anyways and I wonder if Sirius was aware of that. I mean, if you remember, we got 5 days a week when Sirius started with Stern and then suddenly he took Fridays off in the summer. Then it became a 4 day show because "Robin went long with the news" even though the show was longer on K-rock (not to mention free and 5 days a week. BTW, I never got that "not to mention" expression because clearly I mentioned it, but I digress). Anyways, yeah, now they want 3 days a week for probably an increase. I got upset when they charged for internet access after having it free and now they're grabbing pennies anywhere the can. How about have Stern do 4 days, let him do the hours he wants as long as it's a 5 hour show and fresh content, get rid of Mad Dog and some others and use that cash to pay Stern for a raise?

The difference is that Comcast sucks and you can use other cable providers you like more, especially if they choose to do that (which woudn't surprise me if they did, those rat bastards).
Howard Stern is a single entity that entertains people better than anyone else on the radio (opinion, but it's mine gosh darn it, and I am willing to pay whatever it takes when I find out what the deal is on where he is going.)

Then Fred has to chime in "Are you sure he is ready"...The old Howard would have had him in immediately.
It is so good to hear he may be well enough to actually leave his house!
Wow. That may be the one show to tune in at 6am to see how it goes. Howard obviously has to clear it through Sabean and so forth. If you remember, after the Teddy fight, Artie had to meet with various people before he could return to the show, including Sirius execs. I'm sure a waiver or paperwork would have to be signed, unless it's over the phone. But my thinking is they wouldn't announce this on the air unless he's ready to come in.

Yeah, it wasn't really an announcement, it was more like "So Gary spoke with Artie and he feels he is ready to come in to tell his story. Robin what do you think?"...But I don't think Howard would mention it unless he wants him back in the studio. I just can't believe how much of a cunt Robin is. I think it is possible that they will build this up and maybe Artie will return on the first show of the new year, either at Sirius or elsewhere.
I'm wondering a few things...if he comes in - Does he sit on the guest couch or in his chair? Does security frisk him? And if it goes well, would he or the show ever consider him as part of the show again?
I hope the answer is yes to the last question.

Howard and execs would probably meet with Artie, his agent and Artie's family to hash a lot of shit out. I know Howard likes to hear stuff fresh on the air, but this is different. Artie would have to go through a lot of channels to just guest for a day, let alone come back to the show.
It would be a really shit move to use Artie's personal tragedy to use as a cliffhanger, but sadly I can see that happening. I can see Artie coming on at the end of the year and spilling his guts, and ready to come back on. Howard knows he needs him to keep the show going, especially if it's going to be 3 days away.
I honestly hope Artie is in a good place right now. I think that's most important and hopefully he's in that tranquil place right now.

After two hours on the air this morning, Howard Stern made a revelation on his show on SiriusXM Satellite radio. Longtime show producer Gary “Baba Booey” Dell’Abate had spoken to Artie Lange over the phone and Artie let him know that he wanted to come into the studio to tell the Stern Show crew, as well as the fans, the full details of his failed suicide attempt from December 2009.
It was no secret that Artie had been battling a heroin addiction and his own personal demons for years, but it all came to a head when he stabbed himself nine times at the end of last year. His mother found him unconscious in his apartment and luckily, he was given the medical attention he needed to recover… at least physically.
Upon reporting this news to his listeners, Stern was unsure if having Artie in the studio was a good idea or not. His immediate concern was that Artie was not mentally healthy enough yet to divulge the full details of his ordeal and the following recovery. Sidekick Robin Quivers reluctantly agreed with Howard, although they both inferred that they would love to see him again.
At least we finally have some new information regarding Artie… he is healthy enough to be able to come into the studio. Previously, the updates we were given on the show were few and far between.
Stay tuned for more details.

I think the only person that can make the decision as to whether or not Artie is ready is ARTIE. Not that he has always made the best decisions for himself, but I'd like to think he has some sort of clarity now and somewhat of a new lease on life. I don't think Artie will ever be back in the seat. I don't think he wants it and I don't think his family wants it. I can't wait to hear from him again though. Hopefully Howard doesn't put the kibosh on it before they even talk to Artie.

Artie won't be back full time, but it would be so great to hear that he is doing better. In the future, you never know what could happen. Maybe if Gary and Howard keep in contact with him and really see a difference, they will let him come back. If he is feeling better, I can see him wanting to come back, especially with Howard taking summers off and 3 days a week, plus a later schedule!

You'll take the Metro North, it will take about 85 minutes or so from Bport. Once you get there, the easiest thing to do would be to take a cab to MSG. MSG is on 33rd st. and the Metro takes you to 42nd. You could also walk to MSG, will take you about 20 minutes.
Don't remember there being a strict curfew at MSG, as I've seen many concerts go past 11:00.

Having now watched the segment of the Russian Speed Dating game, the initial follow up discussion and then Howard later having Steve Brandanno in the studio to rip him a new asshole, I'm really just blown away by how clueless Howard could be at this point. Or, that he's not really clueless, he's aware of reality but just too vein to say it.
Alright well the whole "it's rigged" thing, yea I don't know where that came from, and I don't agree with it in the least. I firmly believe Howard has never rigged anything like that in the history of his show. I have no issue believing these girls genuinely didn't know who Howard was and all that. But him getting picked by the 2nd girl, holy shit Howard wake the fuck up. Steve was exactly right on this. You go back and watch the segment, by the time all 4 guys had presented themselves and she was going over her initial reactions on them, it seemed clear they were essentially all even in her mind, as far as general appearance, their attitude and personality, etc. But then pressed to FINALLY pick one, AFTER she kept yammering on and on, yea it was pretty much "I pick you the tallest one, because I like tall men". There was nothing Howard did really that separated him from the other 3 in terms of any other factors except for height. She ultimately picked him because he's a damn beanpole. :lol
And yea she was pretty hot, but she was a fucking nightmare! She wouldn't shut up, I mean how many times did they have to rein her in to finally make her choice, AND make it be from only one of the 4 guys she just met, and not of any single men she preferred in all of NY :rolleyes:lol
Even Will was right about her "secondary" choices. It was nothing more than she pretty much just went right down the line from left to right. I guarantee you if they were standing in a different order, THATS how she would've picked. Now of course, when she was accused of doing just that by Will, she's suddenly all about how no, it was because she liked this other guy better or whatever bullshit. But no, you listen to the thing (and it's even clearer when you watch it) she was going left to right, that's it.

I've said this before, Benjy could take a shit on Howard's console during a broadcast, and he still wouldn't fire him. And Benjy knows it.
Though, ya know I bet a psychoanalyst could present the argument that Howard's actually displaying some narcissism in his behavior here. Because, alright no matter how much Benjy fucks up, Howard still won't fire him because he can't deal with the guilt he knows he'll feel for firing him, like he's fucking up Benjy's life. Funny thing is I'd actually already seen a Sabina Leigh porn scene a couple years ago, she was doing a 3some with a guy and girl, but looks so much different now, I'm usually great with faces and didn't notice her at all. The bangs and glasses really changed her.

Although Depace sure does have a knack for directing these things :rolleyes
Okay so the Joshgirls.com site owner was not a particularly attractive guy, sorta picture Benjy sitting there, just with more hair, but by all means, while the girl's building up to her orgasm, let's cut away to the dough boy sitting on the couch not once, but TWICE, watching her with a vacant stare.
I've found I can be more appreciative of a curvier, chubbier gal more than the average guy, and the first and third chicks in this weren't bad, but the girl in the middle was a bit big even for MY tastes.

man I am clairvoyant. Maroon 5 and Shia were both on today.
Gary said that Shia was out on the red carpet and recognized High Pitch Mike and said he wants to come on the show. Howard played an interview that High Pitch Mike got with him and Shia said he recognized his voice. Shia said he's scared of Howard and it would be like samurai suicide if he went on the show. He said he will go on the show eventually but for now he has to stay off. Shia said he's sad that Artie isn't back too.

Just posted about this over in the actual Fringe thread, this is priceless. I went onto Fox's website to see the premiere online since I missed it last night. But lower on the page they have a menu of a bunch of shorter clips, some making of kinda stuff, some regular show clips, well the first one is obviously ETM, you can tell from the preview still, but that's literally just how it's labeled underneath, no full name just -- Eric The Midget :lol
edit - though for the record, I don't think this was the episode he was featured in.

Ronnie favoring female interns is what got me on the show for the first time :lol
Someone posted a recording of me back when it happened... if anyone still has that can they post it? That pretty much sums up what Ronnie is like with the interns. Oh wait is that me you're talking about? The little segment I sliced out of that one Howard TV episode that I put up on here where you were on camera in the studio? Yea that sounds familiar, because I thought I remembered Ronnie also being involved somehow.
You don't happen to remember what the overall subject of the episode was, do you? Well at any rate I've got all the episodes archived on DVD and a full documentation of what's on each disc, I can have a look and dig it back up.
I might've mentioned this already here, but I think Ronnie will have among the worst transitions when the show is done. God he's just such a fucking cheeseball, he'll be next to nothing without the Stern show. I have to think so many of these strippers deep down aren't really into him much at all, and if they ARE, well I'd love to know each of their names so I can do my best to avoid them entirely the rest of my life :p
He's such a little Napolean complex spazz.

maybe all that scuttlebutt with Stacey and Mom thinking that Howard contributed to Artie's problems and Howard is just trying to avoid a lawsuit or something? I'm REALLY bummed about this. I consider him pretty much my favorite stand up comic right now, he virtually always kills on the roasts. And his own stand up special he taped in NY in 2009, he notices a guy asleep in the third row in the middle of the show, and the way he handles it is hilarious.
He's talked a lot about how he's dealt with addiction for a long time, falling back into rehab repeatedly.
oh and that picture of recent Artie put up -- I'd just like to say looks like I was right :p I don't know if he's quite back down to Beer League weight yet, but he looks significantly thinner than he did before this happened, which is what I predicted.

It really blows my mind how Ronnie seriously can't see what the problem is, when Howard was reaming him for flirting with yet another intern and the whole nickname business. And he goes thru pretty much the same process every single time (yea I love how Ronnie complains this is like a broken record, it's because it KEEPS HAPPENING, so he makes Howard have to intervene).
But it's like, he commits the offense and Howard gets wind of it, so he calls him into the studio, where Ronnie immediately starts spouting off "What's your problem? I didn't do nothing wrong, I'm just goofing around!". And then, particularly if Howard brings the girl into the studio also, Ronnie gets embarrassed and starts simply repeating back everything Howard says.
Howard: "You're bothering this girl."
Ronnie: "Yea, okay, I'm bothering her, right."
etc, etc, etc...
And then when Howard really presses him, Ronnie overcompensates by screaming how much he doesn't really care anyway, he doesn't care to do the thing Howard is now yelling at him for or trying to take away from him, this is of course Ronnie trying to save face.
I mean you can set your watch to this stuff :lol

I think he's a horrible, hateful little person, and I enjoy him on the show :lol Because I love listening to his insanity, how entitled he continually feels and shows of disrespect despite the fact that he'd literally be nothing without the show. All the back and forth about the Emmys red carpet was hilarious.
But yea christ watching the scene, he started saying "Is there any renumeration?" BARELY after the last word was out of the actor's mouth that spoke before him. It's like jesus, that doesn't sound forced at all. :rolleyes
TRY to act like you don't know what you're going to say before you say it :lol

What a little fuck that guy is. Sidenote: he has the weirdest fingers I've ever seen. Even for a midget.

watching a copy of HTV with Sulu in studio from a few weeks ago where he impersonates Lupe. They're listening to the Jackie interview about him leaving the show. Honky, you'd appreciate this: I'd compare Jackie leaving like the time Dennis Condrey left the Midnight Express and they brought in Stan Lane. The team was better with Lane.
