Can't wait to check this out tonight, how long is the segment? Do they have alot of the aftermath on tape?

Just opened the video. It's 43:41 long and actually starts off with a bit of the hallway bit between Artie and Teddy that was off the air.

I love Ron and Fez, Ferrell is unlistenable.

I thought that at first, but I gave him a week of shows. He grew on me a lot. I like the idea of an un-edited sports show.

I'm warming up on Bubba as well. Initially I felt like they had a shitload of inside jokes that first time listeners didn't/couldn't understand. As I've listened more, I've enjoyed it.

Ferrell's voice is just tough to listen to after a while. I enjoy his take on sports for the most part (not a big fan of the NHL). But I can't stand how they talk over shitty 80's rock for hours at a time. I wish they would give it a rest. By the way, I gotta give the guy credit he's a pretty good handicapper. A friend of mine has won a lot of money taking his picks for the NHL.

Yes, he def. is a good handicapper - Not so much w/ the NFL, but he is great w/ MMA, NHL, and pretty good w/ college sports. I agree w/ the 80's rock music, but I ignore it and listen to him, he is quite entertaining.

as a fan of both shows, i can honestly say, the 2 shows are nothing alike. i'm sure howard was an influence of o&a's, (and they have said that before)...but that's it...
i dont think it's fair or accurate to say that they're a ripoff, just because they host a comedy talk radio show.

ferrall is ok, but only in small doses. he definitely knows his shit when it comes to sports, but after a little while, i have to turn him off.

i cant stand Bubba. i think he is more of a ripoff than anyone out there. he's also got that cheesy "radio guy" voice that goes right through me.

Maybe you are right. Honestly I've only listened to the guys a handful of times. If this XM/Sirius merger ever happens, I'll give them a shot. I have the feeling more and more Stern is retiring in 2 years, I"m going to need something to switch to! Surprisingly Howard really doesn't rip on those guys that much. I think he is well passed the 'competition' stage of his career. He proved that he will beat anybody that goes against him.

Yea I've put some thought into this here and there, because I'd done my share of assisstant work when I lived in LA, I worked in director Paul Verhoeven's office for 2 years and did a a good bit of personal stuff for him... I mean, on one hand I don't obviously know Teddy's work history if he's at all familiar with that kinda thing, but just now listening to both sides, there's some very basic things that any guy of average intelligence should know to do. Like the passport, the fact that not only he wouldn't file that info for future use, but that he was incredulous at the mere suggestion of doing something like that. Plus, you just know not to talk back to your boss like that, even if it is more of a laid back atmosphere with a guy like Artie. Shit, him firing back with "Well you forget stuff all the time too!", I just smacked my forehead when I heard that. On that part Artie's absolutely right, in almost any other situation he'd have been fired I'm sure long ago.

Yea okay Ralph, just so you could get your beauty sleep let's recap the entire Artie returns story just for you.

I havent listend to stern since he left clear channel or whatever it was. but i have seen the show on comcaston demand, and my lord does artie need help. i honestly think its awful that howard uses his addiction as a segment of show. id rather see the guy a full blowl heroin addict than the mess of man he is now because of saboxin. govermnet drugs like methadone and suboxin are so much harder to quit than dope

^Speaking of this, a great moment on the show was when they played the 'Artie loves pancakes' song, and everybody started singing along...I was dying.

Bet yes, Artie needs help. And yes, they use it as a segment on the show, but I honestly believe the show is what is keeping Artie alive...I think he would be way more out of control without having to report to work every morning, 4 days a week.

My office method of listening is doing a one ear wire headset in my left ear, the ear that faces the wall. I have my right ear facing the door with no headset so i can always hear what is going on. when somebody comes in, i smoothly slide the wire headset out of my ear and let it fall below the desk. it hangs there b/c it is attached to the speaker.

I have my own office and I keep the door shut most days because of the stuff I deal with. SSN's, etc. So it works out well. But if I'm walking around or looking out the window thinking or something and she walks in, it's always a little awkward to hear "FUCK YOU!!!"

I just finally saw the HTV segment of Colin Quinn's recent interview, but at the end tacked on was the story of Sal offending everyone at his first seder. I am just continually amazed at the capacity Sal has to look mindnumbingly stupid, it's just unbelievable. And what's especially odd is, if you remember back at the point they had in one of the hypnotists since they've been at Sirius, and the guy said that someone that's an easy person to be able to hypnotize, this is a strong indication for likely superior intelligence. And both Richard and Sal were of course a piece of cake to put under and do whatever they wanted.

Soooo... I suppose Sal is the exception that proves the rule :rolleyes :lol

They just brought up a topic I have put a bit of thought into.

When was the big bush/shaved bush changeover? I know a lot of people on these boards are so young that all they know is shaved bush, but I am trying to remember approximately when shaved bush became assumed.

I don't think I even saw a shaved bush until '93/'94 and I don't think it became something you just assumed you were going to get until maybe even '97.

I've always been bad at judging time frames so maybe I am off on this. This probably even deserves it's own thread.

All I know is in high school it was all big bush and I don't remember having any problem with it because I was just so happy to be seeing one.

hbktonyb
04-29-2008, 11:38 AM

Well when I made that previous post I hadn't even actually watched the entire HTV segment at that point. I now have. HOLY SHIT. I feel like I physically HATE the bitch now. Granted, there was one thing I would say that Artie was kinda outta line on -- the remark about Alexis Love have a "Gary thing going on with her teeth". It was 100% true, I noticed it well before Artie said that, she's got like these 2 corner teeth on the top row that look to go way higher up into the gumline than all the others, AND stick out farther, and it's very obvious to look at her, plus I'm sure you could probably hear it affecting her speech. So even though it was obvious, sure Artie could've certainly not bothered to actually voice it in the interview. But other than that Justine was just ripping the shit out of him all over the place.

Being so visibly repulsed at the idea of him touching you? Fuuuuuuuuuuck you, skank bitch. And ugh god, she had this whispy, dainty sort of way of answering every question that was SO FUCKING PHONEY. And, if she wasn't being phoney, than she's just a completely self-centered airhead. And not attractive.

I realize that occasionally people have brought up the topic about Benjy's duties as a writer on the show, that are some of the one liners that Howard or maybe even Artie dishes out in fact material that Benjy's jotted down but then quickly and quietly passes over to them. Well for what it's worth I was just watching the HTV segment of the whole discussion with Jason about his mom's bullying and her calling in, and when Artie starts reciting the mock singing telegram that his mom might otherwise use to pass along her criticism, Artie was very obviously looking down and reading those off of a piece of paper in front of him. Now, if he just scratched those out himself in the preceeding minutes, or if he got it all from Benjy, I couldn't say (though I still can't imagine any universe in which Benjy would actually have any comedic talent, so I'd like to believe that it was an original "Artie piece").

Ya know with the Mexican Delivery Guy Game, I don't know if this is just poor staff work by Gary and/or Will or what, but don't you suppose it might be helpful if you had it well established beforehand if the participating pornstar was willing to get completely naked for the dude's prize? :p :lol

I'm sitting here watching this Roxy Jezel thing and she haults at taking her jeans off, and I'm like DUH, producers, it didn't occur to you to make sure when booking her that she'd do that? :lol Geez and to think everyone was getting on Teddy for not having the presence of mind to jot down Artie's passport info for easy future use... hello!!

This bullshit about the girl from the Ugliest Guy/Hottest Wife contest is really pissing me the fuck off. I'm so goddamn sick of the huge block of our society and their arcane, puritanical views. :BANG :BANG :BANG
Every point they made was exactly right, the girl was in a bathing suit that she'd wear on any beach, she didn't say anything outrageous (not like 2nd grade kids would be friggin listening anyway). Our educational system has a hard enough time trying to find quality, dedicated teachers, and they have to toss one of them out because of fucknut shit like this. When I first heard this I was fucking livid.

I know this story's a couple days old now, I'm not sure what the deal is with any kind of lawyer intervening (maybe Dominic) or whatever, but if not and they were still screwed, I tell ya if I was Howard (mind you, not that I'd be looking down on him if he didn't do this), I would totally try throwing some money their way. Hell he's got more money than god, I think I could put like at least $25k their way to help them out of this shit.

She was asked to resign I guess. And the town wasn't going to say anything about it until the media caught it and called her and the school and made it a story.

I know she was only in a bikini... but didn't she use "sick time" to attend the show? And Stern is (from what I remember) a very sexually explicit show. I guess it had to do with a code of conduct and ethics and whatnot...

Well first of all, do you know for a fact that she took a sick day for the show? But secondly even if so, big fuckin deal, yea she's the first employee the nation's history to lie about a sick day, to go and do something fun. :rolleyes

I didn't hear any of the show from today yet, would the bit you're talking about happen to be from several years ago when Bill was on the set of "Inside Edition" and bitching at his producer/cameraman/whatever at the very end of the show?

Because someone posted this on another board I was on at some point within the last 24 hours:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=IAaHime9aaM

I'd completely forgotten that he used to host Inside Edition. Back a few years ago when he started getting all the media attention for his bullshit Fox show I knew I'd remembered him from somewhere, I just could never place it.

Oh and I agree -- Artie NEVER lets me down with his Jeff The Drunk impression.
Something else I've completely fallen in love with, and I'm not entirely sure how long they've been doing it now... whenever Eric The Midget calls in and Fred plays the soundbyte of the aliens from "Mars Attacks" talking to each other, the "acck acck!!". I guess it doesn't matter now, but I think it was called Ketchum, something like that. I loved the one line from Howard when he was pretending to be their executives, talking to Isaac.

Out of curiosity have any of you seen the Bowling Beauties special yet? I DL'd the first episode of it last week and... oh boy. I also happened to take a look over on SFN for the first time in awhile, and it's just getting DESTROYED on there. And rightly so. I suppose I hadn't really thought about it much just when they were talking it up in studio, but once I started playing the video I found myself skimming thru so much, I maybe watched a total of about 2:30. It's incredibly boring, and I think there was one quick shot of Gina Lynn flashing for a few seconds towards the end (which, she's got not very great fake tits as it is). So okay, wonderful, you've got 20 chicks bowling... in bikinis. That never come off.

In one of the posts on SFN it said that the guy's friend dates one of the girls who participated, and they all had a shitty time. 12 hours to shoot, and certainly no alcohol. And apparently Howard has read on the show pretty much the only positive email he's gotten regarding it. Man they lied a giant egg with this one.

Okay that's pretty sweet. Although to be perfectly honest I was referring to the bowling beauties themselves :D

I noticed the one chick they got is the girl that I think was one of the Maxim Hometown Hotties they had on the show a few months ago, don't recall her name but she was the one they duped into getting on the Sybian topless by convincing her that Cameron Diaz had already been on it. I didn't mind them doing that because she really kinda bugged me with what she did to JD, ragging on him the way she did after he did the bit Howard asked them to do with trying to get her number in the green room. I wouldn't mind having a live show but have it be someone like Bubba or Shuli or even Jay Thomas or Fitzsimmons. Same sort of stuff, some guests, etc. Not like Howard, but something other than clip shows or best of.

FYI for those who don't have Howard TV and you wanna see the "Hottest Chick/Ugliest Scar" contest, and you have a Demonoid account, a torrent of it just went up over there.

I got finished watching the Celebrity Superfan Showdown a few hours ago... I actually think I found the big 25 point questions to be the easiest. Seriously, what major fan doesn't know about Fred's Eric name change?

i'd wish they give some people that works for howard a live show though...like the richard and sal show, the ralph and john hein show, etc...

Wow you're telling me you actually like Ralph enough you'd want him to have his own show in those circumstances? He's gotta be my most hated figure in the entire universe of the show. Good god he's such a jackass, I can't stand him.

Are you guys for real? This was way back in the Jackie days, when this was first brought up, when they were in a REALLY small studio at KROCK (one that it always baffled me that, even by that time the show was huge nationally, yet they had to broadcast from a friggin broom closet). There was a segment they made it for HTV that I have in my collection somewhere, somebody inadvertinely found out that Fred had legally changed his name to Eric. Howard gave him endless crap for it because it seemed like it was only for the sake of official paperwork, that is, he didn't ask a single person in his life to actually start calling him Eric, it was only like on his drivers license and stuff like that.

Mind you I'm only remembering like half the story off the top of my head, but that's the gist. I only became aware of it from them talking about it occasionally after the fact (& then seeing that HTV segment), because I didn't start listening regularly until like late 2000.

Anyone happen to listen to Bubba yesterday? I guess he was doing a state of the bubba kinda show and the topic of their sirius contract came up. They spoke very positively about Sirius but said some changes needed to be made, apparently that whole part of the show was censored from those people listening online. Bubba blew up on Tim Sabien and Sabien eventually hung up with him on the air. It made for pretty good radio but what about that whole 100% uncensored guarantee?

Well personally I've never liked Bubba. Can't quite put my finger on it but he's always greatly annoyed me. As to your question, my best guess would be that he's obviously not as powerful a show as Howard's is, not as popular, so maybe Sirius has to earn more revenue (thus more commercials) to justify keeping him... ?

I have been wanting to do this for awhile and I think it is finally time to pull the trigger.

I am going to organize a "Wack Pack Dead Pool". I'll put together a list of Wack Packers, we'll see who wants to play and then I will randomly matchup a Wack Packer to an Ant and the first person to have one that dies wins.

Wins what? I don't know yet. I am working on getting a prize of some sort, but I have to determine if I have even a little pull around here.

Here is my Wack Pack list so far. Please help out if I forgot anyone. Once we determine a definite list I will start compiling a list of Ants that want to play.

Beetlejuice
Bigfoot
Eric the Midget
High Pitch Eric
Gary the Retard
Wendy the Retard
Crazy Alice
Blue Iris
Crackhead bob
Miss Howard Stern
John the Stutterer
Nicole Bass
Siobhan

Who am I leaving out?

FunkyTeaParty
06-05-2008, 01:25 PM
I jotted all of those down.

I guess what I'll do is once we feel we have a complete list I will prioritize the Wack Packers based on popularity and the likelihood they may die and then we'll see how many players we get and I'll just take as many off the top as we have players.

I have never found Yucko even the least bit entertaining. One of the very few HTV segments that I saw appear online that I had no interest in then DL'ing to make part of my collection was his first appearance back in 2001. He's annoying and my guess is well aware that he'd be even less of a total nothing without his ridiculous makeup as his hook.

Am I the only one who doesn't really "get" Johnny Fratto? I don't know, it's like he's somehow parlayed one interesting guest spot originally on the show into this ongoing thing of being on the air occasionally, but where he never really seems to contribute anything substantial. I kinda wonder if anyone on the show even possibly considers him to be a Wack Pack member. Is that crazy? I think he comes up with whatever odd sounding shit to talk about just so he can get on the air as much as possible (certainly that's behind a lot of his Eric The Midget interaction). Like I'm just watching the segment of Bob Levy's meltdown aftermath, they've got Johnny on the phone for it, Howard's just wrapping everything up, and Johnny throws out this total non-sequitor about his wife or girlfriend being pregnant, I mean first of all does anyone really care about that? It just seemed like he was thinking to himself, oh shit, they're gonna hang up, how can I squeeze one or two more minutes outta this?

Oh and speaking of Levy, I think he got off VERY light. That was a tirade of near Artie proportions, and that so called apology was so half assed and insincere. He's beyond lucky to keep getting the exposure he does. Dude, how did eating cheese out of a chick's ass not get very old YEARS ago?? I consider that basically to be Yucko but on a very small scale, it's now just some lame gimmick that he HAS to do.

Ya know I didn't bother to download that HTV segment becaues I can't stand Yucko, but now having read the whole write up about the interview, I was just stunned. This was just sad, why the hell did she even get married to him in the first place? But so you really think it was totally staged, huh? I don't believe Artie really deserves much sympathy until he takes a solid stab at therapy, in other words make a clear showing that he wants to get help and greatly improve himself. If I remember correctly he's already even said himself before that if he were still the townie Stern fan standing on those wet docks working his ass off that he was 15-20 years ago, and you told him back then at some point he couldn't be bothered to even stay awake for the whole of the Howard Stern show when he's a major part of it -- that it'd be ridiculous. And I think probably his best shot to get thru his self loathing and self destructiveness is thru therapy.

But he's clearly not there yet, recognizing there's enough of a problem to finally commit.

I have to say Beth's a complete moron that she has those kinds off issues with going to bathroom, and has no intention of going to the doctor. She's had more than one occassion of not having a bowel movement for as long as a month?? Honey, you've got something wrong with your system. And oh, because she's embarrassed. Well yea sure, just like I'm sure your doctor is under the impression you've literally never farted in your life. Please, doctors are practically impervious when it comes to this. Frankly after hearing an extreme like that, she deserves whatever major issues she winds up suffering from because of ignoring that, that's just childish and idiotic.
