I've been thinking about learning harmonica lately, to complement my guitar playing. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of some decent harps to begin with. Preferably something cheap, but still with a good sound.
Thanks,
Charlie

All my harps are hohner, which are high quality german harps. They werent too expensive though, I got my G and C for 10 bucks each, and my D for 15 at my local music shop

could anyone recommend what key a beginner harmonicaist (yeah its a word) should get a harmonica in? i play guitar, some bass and some violin, mostly dave stuff, but a bunch of other similar (allman, jj, band, clapton) stuff too. thanks for the help

the best way to go is to get a harmonica in a common key (like g, c or d) and then capo accordingly to fit the key of the harp. For example, if a song is usually in A, like I'll Back You Up, but you only have a C harmonica, then slap a capo on 3 and play it the same way. That sometimes messes up your vocal range though, but it's one way to get around the problem of only having one harp. Eventually the best strategy is to get several harps for several keys, or if you're playing harmoica exclusively and not playing guitar at the same time, then if you are skilled enough, a chromatic harmonica is the ultimate.
