Anyone remember the video of dave playing in the record store (maybe 92 timeframe?) For some reason I thought he was playing tuned down a half step. Can anyone help confirm or deny this? If so did he do this often back in the day? I have never noticed it, so maybe it was just an off day for his voice?
Any thoughts? thanks

I have that vid. but its at home. Ive seen it, but I dont remember how the guitar sounded. I really doubt he was tuned down tho. His voice sounded a lot different back then remember.

yeah thats the thing i cant imagine why he would have it tuned down especially back then! I thought i tried playing along with the vid at one point and found it to be lower. GRANTED this a was a few years ago, and I would put it past me to have my guitar tuned half a step too high ;)

Any thoughts? thanksI have seen it, and I think you are are dead on bro.... I will confirm only because I remember seeing it, and I'm positive he was tuned DOWN! GOOD EAR!!:thumbsup
I don't know of him doing it other than that.... I think Dave gets REALLY nervous when doing solo stuff and back then he was probably shitting himself and didn't wanna screw up

playing along with an analog video is tricky it depends on the speed at which it was recorded and then at which it was played back. tapes stretch...etc

good point right there. I was listenin to some old old D+T stuff today which certain parts almost sound tuned down but i think its more the sound of the Yamaha git dave used to play (and was playing in that vid). Obviously none of the D+T stuff was actually tuned low.

Dave made a comment himself about being out of tune early on in that gig. I just think he was tuned a bit flat, but not really on purpose. He probably didn't have a tuner with him and didn't want to make it any worse by trying to mess with it. Just my thoughts...

Probably? He says it multiple times, something about "if I look like I'm shitting bricks, it's because I am."
He actually gets in trouble by the record store because he says it so much. Then he says it again, and says "oops, sorry" or something to that effect.
