I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction to record songs. I've have an acoustic electric fender guitar and was wondering what would be a recommended style of recording that would be easily transferrable to a PC. I have never used any recording devices before so I any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I just bought a Fast track input for $100 dollars at guitar center. Now i can plug right into my computer. I Downloaded a free program off of the internet. Its good for recording yourself and vocals, no other instriments.

There are so many inexpensive options out there. Before going off the deep end with my DAW, I was looking into the new Fostex digital 8 track, because it had a 40Gb Hard drive and you could easily transfer to the PC. Roland and Korg also have some nice units on the market.

You need to figure out how many tracks you want first, and think about the possibility of adding a drum machine or bass down the road. If it is just for guitar and vocals you could probably get by with a decent 4 track, and Octava MC012 mics. Roland now has a recorder that has a drum machine and bass simulator built into it.
