I am very interested in the field of Audio production. i am currently getting a degree at Xavier UNiversity for Audio production,,but I still have alot of unanswered questions. I will be attending CRAS a resording arts school in Arizona when I complete my undergraduate degree...and hopefuly achieving a masters in the recording arts. I could read countless texts of what to do and how to get started, but I figured I would ask for some advice or any other information anyone would liek to post about this field..please without anything further POST!!:cool

Dude, I could go on for about 30 pages on this subject. I'm a graduate of the Conservatory (feb '01!). CRAS is a great school. Expensive as hell (I'm still paying off my student loans on it) but a great school yet it does have its downside. The instructors are all very knowledgable and varying in their teaching techniques. The first 3 weeks is this mix of anticipation and boredom. It's all books and terminology before it gets hands on. But once you do, watch out. I was really unfamiliar with the audio world (except for some no brainer stuff) and so to be thrown into the digital room, studios a, b and c and the protools room... wow! It was amazing. Not to mention the SSL room's monitors were the ones used during Jacko's Black and White album. I also read recently that Rupert Neve actually came to the school to lecture shortly after I graduated. Mr. Flying Faders himself! Ungh, I don't want to take up too much space because I could literally go on for page after page. Anyway, if you want some in depth info on CRAS or audio production (been working in the field ever since my graduation) lemme know and I'll pm you with my email addy or if you have AIM - Fan4DaveMatthews. I'll give you the good and bad about it all :lol

My degree is in audio production but I went the radio route after school and it's nothing like sound recording technology. Now I'm teaching TV prod.
Be thankful that you are learning so much non-linear stuff, the bad old days were full of long frustrating hours where one teenie-tiny fuck-up meant more studio time than you can shake a stick at.
Good luck, have fun, keep us informed.
