you should get Miles Daves "Kind of Blue" it is the definaitve album in jazz, it really is

Ornette Colemann is an awesome saxophonist who invented a crazy style of jazz his band called free jazz. Good stuff

You can get a lot of good Jazz albums from the Library....that way you can preview them before you buy them.

Any of the people listed above are awesome and the Library should have most of them.

Miles Davis "Kind of Blue"...possibly the best album of all time!! not just in jazz, but in all musical styles.

John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Charles Mingus, Nick Payton

others that are kind of jazz, but also a little soul/hiphop

Just thought I would let all you Joshua Redman fans know that he played with DMB on 10-31-98. It's a great show and Joshua plays on "I'll Back You Up" and "Jimi Thing". Just thought some of you might like to know.

I really dig Medeski Martin and Wood! Billy Martin is such an awsome drummer and that band is really creative. It might not be the kind of jazz you were thinking about but its worth a listen.
