I've played a ton of them. They're sick. Check that post out...I wrote a bunch about them.

i agree. i don't think it sounds that great acoustic..it's much too thin. then the electric doesn't sound "eletric" enough. whatever you dig though.

no matter how they play, they are an absolutely beautiful guitar

^^ That's what I love about it. The Takamine I have now is alright, but the neck is a little distorted, and it isn't as well made as the Taylor(obviously). But I love the look. I like the blue ones.

Why not get a versatile hollowbody or semi-hollowbody guitar for a much more reasonable price? The T5 doesn't cut it as an acoustic guitar, so you're paying for a stylish but not very versatile electric guitar. For all the claims about versatility, I think it still only has one actual "electric guitar" pickup.

Yeah. It does only have one pickup, but I plugged it in and Liked what I was hearing. It's either this, or a twleve-string Martin, I can't decide! :lorraine :lorraine :lorraine

I suggest listening to someone who knows how the pickup system works play it. Then you might change your mind, about the versatility.

Overpriced? Not really, IMO. How much is a Les Paul? about the same/or more. How much is a decent Martin or PRS? More.

Taylor is one of the big names in guitar making, and their prices are right in line with the other big names. List another well know maker that has full binding, a bone nut, and EBONY fretboard, with a custom hardshell case of equal quality, etc. for under 2Gs? There are not many options.

Also the T5 is unlike anything else on the market. It has 2 humbuckers, and a body sensor that is just like the Expression System.

Talk about overpriced......you can get a REAL handcrafted instrument for the price of one of those hollow bodies.

I played a red Standard T5 when I was on vacation, and I wish I could have run out of the store with it. On the 2nd notch / setting, it sounded so much like a great acoustic guitar. If I did more gigging out, I'd def look into it, that is if I could afford it.

It is all about priorities, just about anyone can afford one, if they are serious about it, and willing to make other sacrafices to get one.
