hi, i am new to digital pianos/keboards. i wanted to get a nice one that i won't regret buying. i was looking at the casio privia. i was looking at the PX-310... Just want to get some people's thoughts about them or other makes/models. Some requirements that i have are 88-key, weighted keys (realistic like regular piano), free of a stand (just the keyboard), and under $800.
thanks!

I'm not expert in the field, but all the pro/semi-pro key players I've played with an know.....always say Casio are toys when it comes to keyboards.
One of my Keyboards is a Casio, it was about $650, it is definately not ideal, and I had to get an upgrade, and the Keyboard isn't close to my primary instrument.
But I'm not familiar with the particular model you are looking at, either.

some effects wouldn't be bad. but i just want to stay away from anything too extravogant. I like the amount of option that are on the privia, anything with the equal amount of options would be good. I've heard yamaha is best in the market, and i've heard good things about Roland, but i want to stay in that price range.
here is the 310 info page.

I just bought a Yamaha DGX-505 for my daughter . Nice rig, lots of sounds, 88 keys, midi and usb hookups ,but only semi weighted keys, they still have a nice feel. comes with stand, but is easily portable w/o stand.
Got it from musician's friend for around $525 delivered.

I have a Korg SP-200 Digital Piano. It's the same as the SP-300, but doesn't have built-in speakers and is thus much cheaper. For a stage piano, built-in speakers are worthless, anyway.
The piano has beautifully weighted keys, great tone, and enough of a polyphony you'll never find the limit. It's relatively portable (any 88 key instrument will be rather large), extraordinarily durable (mine had a can of beer poured into it), and an all-around great buy.

It's out of your price range, but I've been eyeing the Yamaha PF500, it's the only one I find that duplicates the feel and sound (emphasis on sound) of an actual piano the way I like. I'm still mustering up the courage to purchase it (~2K)

I'd go with a Yammaha, I think they have a piano for $800, or if you get a used one I think they have one that normaly costs about 1200 you might be able to get in your budget if you look for a deal.

i bought the yamaha, love it so far. i liked the action and feel of the keys more than the casio, but thats a preferance, so you should probly just go to the store and play them
