...is actually from Zildjian's new K Custom Hybrid line. He switched out his old 19" K Custom Dark China for a new 19" K Custom Hybrid China. It's the cymbal that has been garnering much suspicion since it first appeared this past summer.
The Hybrid series feature cymbals with a traditional lathed outer edge but about 3/4 of the way to the bell the cymbal turns into a brilliant hammered finish. Here's a link to the china on the Zildjian site: http://www.zildjian.com/EN-US/products/productDetail.ad2?catalogID=-1&typeID=0&productID=2232

and to go on with clearing up the mysteries of his new equipment, here is the 17" ZHT crash that replaced his 17" K crash towards the tail end of the summer tour and throughout the winter tour.

Which is weird that he's playing one for his main crash cymbal. Sheet bronze is blah.

I was wondering what that was. I saw it on the WOTR DVD.

The cymbal in the WOTR cd is different from the ZHT 18" Crashes. The one on the dvd looks more like a Sabian OZone crash, just holes all in it. The ZHT has 3 long oval shape cutouts with small holes between each one. He was using the ZHT on the winter tour.......not sure what he was using during the summer
