Better TV show? 24 vs Lost

Alright i just want to get this out of the way because these are two great TV shows and i argue with my friends about which is better all the time so lets see what people around here think.

It would be ideal if aside from voting in the poll you could post your reason and defend your vote so we can make an interesting debate.

24 hooked me after the first couple episodes... and I love the concept.

Lost turned me away after two episodes. You know my answer. :D

I am choosing Lost because i beleive it is the better show for several reasons.

Both 24 and Lost have great concepts for plots the way 24 is in real time and the way Lost uses flashbacks to accompany the island.

To me 24 is primarily just fast action edge of your seat entertainment which is fine. We all love heart stopping car chasing gun shooting fight scenes.

But Lost seems to offer a lot more. It has its suspense and action but it offers great characters which we get to know better and better as the show develops.

A great cast allows us to stay interested along with the mysteries of the Island which keep us coming back for more.

Although 24 could have a greater run due to its premise i feel Lost in the end is the better show.

24 is tried tested and true... lost could go to shit soon... it is an awesome show but it is a really fine balance between, revealing enough without revealing too much...

I cant stand Lost. Talk about having to strecth reality to make a "suspenseful" episode. I also love the whole. Here watch this episode then next week we will say a new episode is on but it's really just the same episode from a different angle.

yeah i figured it would but knowing that Lost won the Golden Globe for best TV show and 24 wasnt even nominated was indication enough for me.

Not to say that 24 deserved to be left off the list but without Bauer its really not a show where as the only thing Lost soley relies on is the Island.

yeah, about the 20th time a terrorist kidnapped someone/had a bomb/ect. was enough for me to hate 24

oh, and to answer the question i'd have to say Lost right now. i use to be a huge 24 fan, but i missed most of last season and all of this one so far. i need to get caught back up. but i don't miss an episode of Lost. ever.

Never has...please....i'm a fan of both shows but both of them have their flaws. 24 has lost direction basically every season because once they get around hours 15-20 it gets stagnant and too complacent on trying to give a "twist" and changing the direction that the main storyline was going in. The writers have even admitted that they wished they had gone a different direction around these hours.

Lost also suffers from focusing too much on character and not enough on plot. Though personally I enjoy the character development more than the plot, so that really doesn't bother me but I know that alot of people who want their action now now now don't like that.

So for me I give Lost the edge because the massive mythology they have created, character interaction and development are more important to me than non stop action on 24. Though like I said I love both shows so this was as tough poll for me.

i only watched one show of lost but i really didn't like it.. it was about a black horse or something . . . i didn't think that girl was a good actress and there was too much love, 24 is more about dead people, it's better :)

Yeah, seeing a single episode means nothing to you when you don't know the storyline or the characters. It's like only watching hour 13 of 24 and not knowing what the hell happened over the last 12 hours.

Lost...well... I thought the "Original" Lost, The Amazon by Peter Benchley was way better. Lost was just a bad copy of The Amazon.
