:thumbsup Not only is it still on, it's on 2-3 hours a week. I can't stand this show, I never really could. What I find interesting is, that one of the most recent commercials had some guy singing Cher, and Simon said something to the effect of "That was awful" but IMO the guy sounded exactly like Cher.

I didn't think Taylor was very good. He was also extremely annoying. None of the guys were really that great though... I thought Chris (the bald guy that sang Bon Jovi) was the only one who could really compete to win it. The five best girls were better than any of the guys in my opinion. Then again, I'll probably never watch this show again once the Olympics are over.

I think Paris Bennett will win. She's young (17), cute, has a lot of camera charisma, can sing very well, Simon loves her, and she's black. It's been shown in past seasons that more black people watch American Idol than anyone else, and black contestants usually gain favor from that.

but didn't that fantasia girl win last year? and then carrie was the year before, so that's two girls in a row. i know america votes, but it has to be fixed to some extent. i think it's a dudes contest to lose this year.

i'm not saying it's fixed as in the voting's fixed. but i do think they can do whatever they can to make one performer look better than the other. paris is good, but the judges didn't really make her out to be awesome. there were 3 guys last night (taylor, ace, and that dude simon said was the best male vocalist they've ever had) who they made out to be huge stars.

Kelly was so awesome in her audition, I expected MUCH more from her than what happened Tuesday night. Hopefully her nerves will settle and she'll start belting out some tunes, but I still can't see American voting another Carrie. I think she'll make it really far, but I don't know about winning.

I don't agree with the statement that Taylor should do Bob Seger. The dude sounds exactly like him. They have said on the show before that they don't want you to sound exactly like someone else. They want you to have your own voice.

That being said, for a girl, I would pick Pickler (:hump). For a guy I would pick Ace or Taylor. I would say Elliot, but his teeth really bother me.

Bands compete and America votes. They'd play cover songs, and then maybe at the finale, they'd play an original that would be the first single.

I do very much like the idea, but what about in the first two episodes or however many it is in American Idol where they go from town to town having open auditions. How are they going to do that for all of these bands? Would the band have to record something and send it in to them along with pictures a bio and the like? I'd love to see this show come to be.

I do very much like the idea, but what about in the first two episodes or however many it is in American Idol where they go from town to town having open auditions. How are they going to do that for all of these bands? Would the band have to record something and send it in to them along with pictures a bio and the like? I'd love to see this show come to be.
We'll for that, they'd have one or two people (singer, player), and you could bring in an acoustic guitar or play their provided keyboard. That way they could see a stripped down version (just like the a capella version on the AI auditions). :)

My opinion of everyone, as if you care, is:
Girls:
My favorite is Lisa. I don't think she'll win but I like her. If any girl wins, I say it'll be Katharine. Paris makes me want to smack her. Why doesn't she already have a contract already since her grandma in the Sounds of Blackness? She shouldn't need this competition.
Guys:
This is the first time I've liked this many of the guys. Taylor is my favorite but I really like Eliott and Chris alot too. Ace is just so damn pretty it makes you want to puke but I do think he's a good singer. I usually agree with Simon on almost everything he says but this week, I really thought Taylor and Ace were the best. I thought that falsetto was hot. As far as him being compared to Constantine. I never understood the Constantine thing. I actually hated that guy. Good singer? Not so much. Cute? Hell no. Fake? You betcha.

I thought for sure chicken little, Bucky or Gedeon would go. Gideon did okay this week but not enough to make up for previous weeks. However, there is no way anyone can convince me that Will is a worse singer than Bucky or Kevin. Granted I think had he made it on, he'd be one of the first few out but still. I knew Kinnik would go and I was thinking Melissa or Ayla. Again, it really doesn't matter because of the girls left now, Melissa will be the first one out.

Now is where it gets interesting. When they are forced to sing songs outside their comfort level. Alot of times in the past, my favorites up to this point quickly fade once they have to start singing other genres.

bucky sucks dick even though he's from NC, he needs to go.

elliot has a great voice, but his facial expressions when he sings are very unnatural and obnoxious. like he's taking a shit and a bird flew into his head. he'll be around for a few more weeks.

ace is pretty but he sucks.

Ace - yeah, not so great and his hair looked weird.
Kellie - boring for me and the dumb blonde bumpkin routine is going to get old.
Elliot - Genius is correct! I love this boy. He's getting my vote. :thumbsup
Mandisa - No, you aren't the only one. I was saying that as she sang.
Bucky - Was his best so far but that's not saying much.
Melissa - Actually not bad, even though she messed up the lyrics.
Lisa - My favorite female. She didn't wow me but it was good.
Kevin - Not as bad as Simon thought. He might make it another week.
Katharine - She sounded great but I'm just not wowed by her.
Taylor - Brilliant. He's simply infectious.
Paris - I want to punch her. Hard.
Chris - Loved it. Loved it. Loved it. He's rockin.

Once again the three guys stole the show for me.

....and NO Taylor should NOT color the hair..... it's practically a trademark now.

Dont really know the names but I think that little perky blond chic needs the boot, so does that little 16 year old blond kid with the glasses. The one tall chic with the long dark hair is good, and the tiny black chic can sing, but i dont think she'll win. I love the bald dude-he's my favorite. I think that guy with the long curly dark hair (ace?) needs to go.... and i do like the other guy...elliot?
i think taylor hicks is classic but wont win because of how he looks and because he probably only appeals to the older crowd.

Here's my take on the Idol chances so far:

Kevin- should go home, but will be one of those singers that stays around wayyyyyyy longer than he should. We'll probably say goodbye to Bucky and Melissa before Kevin.

Mandisa- She is a very polished performer. Unless she has an absolutely horrible night, should be top 5.

Taylor- All depends on song choice. He's very distinctive, but has to choose songs that best represent his talent. Should be top 5, but stranger things have happened than him being ousted prematurely.

Ace- Again, song choice will be key. I think he could go home very early if he isn't spot-on every week.

Katharine- My fiancee dismisses her as a phony-baloney, but she does have talent. There is much more talent, though, than in previous years, so even though she should be top 5, an off-night could doom her.

Bucky- Will go home soon, mostly because he's forgettable, but also because of the talent in this competition.

Chris- Top 5- as Simon says, probably already could rock in the market now.

Paris- Song choice, song choice, song choice. Could win it all, could be out early with bad song choice.

Kellie- The early "aw-shucks" favorite could suffer backlash- my fiancee pointed out that while her earlier charm was natural, she might be forcing it now. Probably top-5, but is vulnerable.

Elliott- Something tells me he's going to be ousted early- he's not that memorable.

Melissa- Gone, gone, gone either tonight or next week. Don't know why she was so vigorously defended, other than Simon really, really doesn't want Kevin to advance.

Lisa- Going home earlier than she thinks. I watched her performance of "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" and thought she sounded like the lead singer of a house band at an NBA game.

Yeah I know he's not pretty but 90% hearing loss in one ear and NEVER one single note off key. Seals the deal for me.
